Injecting water, dangerous? URGENT
I recently was making a music video for my band (rap/numetal/thrashcore) and we had a scene in it where someone is supposed to be injecting heroin. One of my bandmates decided to just inject water to make it seem realistic, and he said this is how it was done in movies, etc. Well he used bottled water thinking it would be the safest, injected about 8mL of that. Now his arm is getting more and more swollen by the minute, its very red and he says its also really soar. Earlier there was some kind of puss or other fluid coming out of the wound (it was a pretty big hole and didnt close up). Is this normal or treatable at home, or do we have to go to a dr?

Wow, what a dumbass.
Get to a fucking doctor!
Bottled water is often less pure than tap water, because the agencies that regulate bottled water do shit-all, while the tap water is being monitored constantly.
Use distilled water, boiled, next time.

If it hasn't cleared up in half an hour you should probably call an ambulance.

Don't you guys have patient confidentiality in America?
Man I could go to the doctors with the most fucked up of diseases with only a week to live and the Doctor couldn't tell any of my family members or they will be sacked as a Doctor.

And he's basing this on what? The 6 years he spent at medical school? Get him to a doctor, and once he's given the all-clear, kick him in the crotch for being such a fucking moron in the first place.

Like I said, it was a pretty big syringe/needle. He said it came from his sisters horse or something, but it was still in the sterile packaging. I mean it wasnt TO big but yeah you get the idea.
And he says that he took like 3 tylenol pms so hes passing out and will suck it up till morning.

8ml is 800 units dude. That's the equivalent of 16 50 unit syringes(the kind that you'll typically see). Either he is one of the leading contenders for being the biggest fucking moron that I have ever heard of, and he very well could be seeing as he plays in a "thrashcore" band, or you're a troll. I'm not sure which is preferable.

this statement is inherently self-contradicting. Clearly a troll post.

QFT, seriously. He probably put it in to the muscle, and missed the vein completely.
Where did you get the needle?
and ummm is the discharge white?
If it isn't white, or it is just bloody he should be fine, 8cc's would make a nice lump if you hit muscle.
Ps. your friend is a dumbass.

Guilty as charged. :)
And anyways, OP, if you're depicting someone shooting dope, you shouldn't be using a fucking horse-harpoon in the first place, unless it was for comedy purposes or something. As long as you're in a state where syringes are non-prescription, you could've walked into Walgreens, asked for insulin syringes for your diabetes, paid for a 10-strip and been on your way.
Not sure if you have to be 18 but either way I've got syringes at Walgreens a few times and never got carded. Only got hassled about it once and still wound up getting them.

Re: Injecting water, dangerous? URGENT
first of all. a scene with people shooting drugs, of ODing or something is a horrible idea, it's so overdone and cliched. besides, if none of you guiuys actually shoot up, why the hell would you create a platform of art that represent that?
second, it's not the water that was dirty of something. i've seen people used toilet water and be fine..I'll bet what youre friend did was just jab the horse needle into his arm, thinking he "hit a vein", while not pulling back the plunger to be sure, and just shot mad water into his arm, and not vein
while this is painful, it'll go away eventually. tell your buddy to put ome heat compress on it to help the water get absorded faster

Re: Injecting water, dangerous? URGENT
Tell your buddy to eat a fuck load of salt so it lowers [increases?] the water potential, so the water he injected is osmosised into blood plasma etc.

Oh, tell me it looked like
This (http://www.aztecstables.com/deacon/images/36.JPG)
or
THIS (http://lh4.ggpht.com/_reWc7tK5z7A/RynoyoZAODI/AAAAAAAAAIA/H5lVAR01BaM/BananaBBTDWallpaperPastingSyringe.JPG)
This is a horse needle, it is a 16 Gauge.
HAhaha, This is the size needle they use on horses, why because they have big veins..
If what you are saying is true, not only did he miss the vein, but he hit the muscle, he probably didn't warm it up, and he might have an airbubble in his vein/muscle.
Tell him he needs to go to a hospital NOW!

To whoever posted the pictures, it was like the first one, but had some markings on it.
He ended up waking up in the middle of the night in a lot of pain and had to go to the hospital, I guess he's going to be okay now he just did something to his muscle, we aren't sure he isn't allowed to talk to us anymore because his parents think we're bad influences.
And we wont be finishing the video, but here is a video from another group who shares a member with us, theyre mostly rap but we influence each other a lot. This is just to get an idea of ONE of the many genres my group transcends. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Gd4gmg9obcU
