Default Outpatient Rehab

Well Either tomarrow if my friends mom picks up her phone or wedsday I am going up to a rehab place. Its a screening for what I am going to get I just have a few questions. Should I go their dope sick?

Also they offer methadone and suboxone treatment. I work full time so which one do I think I should choose if I am I given a choice?

The price for the treatment surprised me its alot cheaper than the suboxone docs they are only charging me $70-80 than prop whatever my script costs.

Also how long before I am on the program before I get take home doses? The rehab is called Operation PAR if that helps.

If anyone wants to talk about recovery in person hit me up AIM or on IRC (slashnet sever) #recovery .

Im actually doing it people so for all you people you made jokes about it *Gives Middle Finger* and for all those who supported me *High Fives*

If you really want to recover - go for Suboxone. Methadone really kept me down - Suboxone helped me get back up. (Other's opinions may differ, though). The outpatient I went to required you to pass a daily urine-screening test in order to get take home doses, you program may be different though. Expect the worst, so you won't be disappointed.

Yeah, I'm guilty of one of those sadly.

PRE EMPTIVE STRIKE : You must wait 72 hours after your last dose for the FULL effects. Some have claimed 36 with decreased effects, but effects none the less.

Well these people always expect it is a miracle drug and then as soon as they get on it they realize it is not going to get them high.

i don't take a high dose(1-2mgs) and I get deminished effects 12 hours after I dose when I did still do h. Some euphoria, itchyness, pinned pupils, nods but it just takes alot more. Probably not very safe to do that.

If you still want to get high, just take the damn methadone. Suboxone does not feel like a regular opiate or opioid agonist at all. I get a nice mood lift, antianxiety, and anti depressant effects but I do not get a high from it.

Well yesterday I sat in PAR rehab MMT for 5 hours dope sick in a 60F talking to shrinks and filling out 100 forms to find out they want $156 in cash to start doing me next NEXT monday, and $77 every following week. Well I left there and my friends mother who took me called a friend of a friend and got me hooked up with a drug dealer who sells suboxone at $5 per 8mg tab. So she bought me 7 tabs and took me back home.

I brought out the bag and showed my mom when she got home and talked to her about suboxone and showed her info online and she was cool with me taking it and detoxing using suboxone and is going to give me money to buy more when I need it. So fuck the Operation Par Rehab program its a fucking scam for the average working person with an addiction. They only get you addicted to another more addictive drug and charge out the ass. I told my shrink I could buy my weeks dose for 1/10 the price on the street and she even said it was a scam for people without insurence.

So wish me luck. Ive been gettin fucked all day on oxy and prob tomarrow night when I start to W/D its all Suboxone, for a cost of less than $35 a week treatment. Can't beat the price when Im not paying it.

I think paying people to switch your addictions is pretty futile.

God man, you can't just "quit drugs" like that, it's not a bike ride in the park.... you gota address some pretty key issues in your life, like... relationships with others, boredom, motivation, learning to readjust to being sober....

If you were serious about quitting oxy, you wouldn't be dicking around with suboxone (which someone else has fucking paid for) whilst still nodding your lazy arse off. It's not a two way street my friend, either change your life and make the best of the support offered by family/friends/government/private health assholes, or carry on being a hopeless addict lying to everyone, and lying to yourself. In the end, you can convince the whole fucking world the sky is purple, but that doesn't mean shit if you can see the sea's still blue.

Man it up, you're addicted to opiates, it's not going to be easy, in fact, it'll be fucking hard.... but not impossible. Outpatient rehab sounds like a recipe for disaster, and the kind of pointless time/money wasting that celebrities go in for. Only you know what you really want from life, what fulfils you, and what doesn't; drug addiction, and getting clean has to involve those things, to the very core.

Good luck, there is definitely decent help out there if you need it. Private drug-counselling services, friends who don't just want gear/money/hook ups..... etc

I only take 1-2mgs of suboxone a day insullfated. You don't need a full 8mgs. Break it into 4 quaters. Try snorted or sublingually taking a quarter. That should be enough. Maybe you need 4 mgs. But you definetly wont need a full 8 mgs.

When I spoke with him, he was aware of this.

I told him he could easily get by with 4mg a day or less and go from there, but he insists that Suboxone is so cheap and available, that he wants to start high at 8mg where he knows it will hold him, then taper down from there to eventually complete a full taper.

This is obviously his choice and up to him; but as for the insufflation route of administration, that is very unwise for one to do who is serious about recovery, as snorting medication and taking it other ways then how it is meant to be taken is an example of the behavior which one is trying to get away from in the first place.

It may not seem like much at first, but when you add everything up, it's the little things like this that actually count.

And not to take sides and/or start a flame war, but as you know... amphetamine(s) is/are not an opiate; and as far as I know, the only thing he is trying to "quit" is opiates; which to some may not make any sense at all, considering the fact that a drug is a drug is a drug and one thing will eventually lead to another (Relapse) and that if one wants to be clean of one [type of] drug, they should stay away from all drugs.

That was my point he will still be usig drugs anyway. I hope you don;t think I am stupid enough to think an amp is an opiate.

And isullfation is only because you get more for your money and better bioavailiblity. The reason I use it like that is because I only had a couple when I started to taper and I can get more doses out of it. To me the ROA does not really matter (I was never a iv user though) and it is the high I was after, with opiates. If subliingual was higher that would be how I would use it.
Just like you should just pop oxy and not snort it since it has a higher oral absorbtion.

If he wants to take 8mgs that is fine but he does not need to because 2-4 will still hold him over.

This I vehemently disagree with. Few people were around during the times when my addiction to opioids (mainly oxycontin) was crazy, snorting up 160mg in a sittin, just chopping lines one after another from three o'clock until I passed out at 11.

Sent to a rehab, came back. Clean off them opioids, just been smoking ganja and drinking. My life is successful, have a career with chance for advancement, steady job, girlfriend, tits, gtfo.

Not like h0ppin. He's gonna be a black crack addict by the end of his suboxone stint.

well this is very tricky, and you gotta take a chance

if the place is a hardcoer methadone clinic, you don't haven to go there withdrawing, but your urine have to be dirty for them to give you a dose, but if youg et on methadone youre in for a long term commitment because its ahrd to get off of, and youd have to go there everyday..and when you are there for a certain about of time(few monthes, and your urines clean, you'll bbeacboue to get a few take homes a week)

For the suboxone, i personally didnt like it one bit and didnt help as much as the mehtadone did but it could work for you, youd only have to get it prescibrd once a month

don't go there actually withdrawing because theres always a chance you wont get in/get dosed and then you'd just be ucking yourelf over..you can always lie about this anyway

So in your opinion, for someone trying to truly "break" their opiate addiction on both a physical and psychological level, would you agree that methadone is likely going to augment their chances at an honest recovery?

I mean, methadone likely gives you that "illusion" because it pretty much is a synthetic opiate...people get high on it everyday. Sure, people report getting "high" on bupe too, but it's not the same thing, I'd wager; granted, I've never used either bupe or 'done, but I have, of course, used opiates.

It seems to me methadone "helps" the cravings because it actually gives the user what they're craving...that opiate-feeling. No offense to anyone but to me that's basically just giving in to your craving and saying fuck it and getting your fix...it's certainly better to do so via legal prescription rather than in a wax baggie off the guy on the corner, but in the long run, in my opinion, it doesn't seem to accomplish much of anything besides switching from one vice to the other.

But I don't wanna get into a full-blown rant about it or piss anyone off more than I'm sure I already did so I'll just stop while I'm ahead...

no doubt methadone can get you high, no doubt it's could be another clutch but

one also can/as i am now, be on such a dose that all it's positive medicinal effects are there and non the recreational, and it gives structure to my day, instead of wasting all day getting bread/getting high, all i need is 1 hr

So when you say that it gives you the illusion that you're still doing some kind of dope, do you think that's actually the pharmacokinetic effects of the methadone or more of a placebo effect of "I'm taking methadone"?

Also, I agree whole-heartedly with your last sentence, and unfortunately, many people recovering from various addictions don't seem to be able to grasp that. So many are looking for that miracle cure...which, for them, seems to be something that will fill them with the apathetic calm of the opiate high while transforming their habit into something acceptable for their family, friends, and society in general. Not everyone understands that there are actually ways to cope with the shit that you're trying to numb out in the first place...

IMO, Buprenorphine (Suboxone/Subutex) is far superior than Methadone. It is much stronger mg for mg and also, Buprenorphine is a partial agonist/antagonist, so the addicting "euphoric effects" the opiate(s) produce are not as intense as a full agonist like Methadone.

On top of that, withdrawing from Suboxone is like a cake-walk compared to the effects from Methadone.

And, I find that Suboxone's affinity for the brain's receptors is much higher, therefore it is much harder to try and get high/break through the Suboxone [when on maintenance] than it is for Methadone, no matter what the dose is.

Methadone is also known to cause lethargy and take away motivation/add depression over time, where Suboxone seems to have an almost stimulating effect and has actually been used for off-label prescribing as an anti-depressant.

I'm not going to get much more into it than that unless I am given a reason too, but I think most everyone will get the point. And as it is with everything else, effects and opinions WILL vary from person to person, but the majority as of late definitely seems to be leaning toward the favor of Buprenorphine.

methaodne is givng you an illusion. Methadone is a full agonist OPIOID. Meaning it agonizes the MU opoid receptors(gets you high). I know they adjust your does as to where you get the least euphoria though.
