Default Buying a scale

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a digital scale. It only needs to be accurate to the tenth of a gram. I've been using these "pocket scales" for the past two years, and, although accurate, I have to replace them every few months. I figured it would be better to just invest in a decent one. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

Best scale I ever had was a Fuzion scale
http://www.hempster.com/index.php?ma...oducts_id=1091
it was only a .1 scale though I needed one that went to a 100th of a gram so I sold it and got a new one but I lent it to a junky and the piece of shit told me some story about Turks kicking his door in and robbing him.

For chemistry purposes you want a .01 scale not a 0.1. A tenth of a gram isn't enough when your weighing tiny amounts of chemicals.

Everything is a chemical. And no matter WHAT you are weighing, a milligram scale wins every time.

No fucken shit, but you don't need to weigh weed to the hundredth of a gram.

Yea like stupid noob said everything on the face on this earth is a chemical. Activist this is a fuckin chemistry forum. Scales have other uses than weighing out weed. Weighing out tiny amounts of precursors you need a proper scale.

Even weighing out certain drugs like fentanyl or heroin you need a .01 scale.

I dont know why you bothered posting that pointless reply. The OP's asking for advise on buying a scale. Since this is LT and not BLTC I assume he's using it for general chemistry purposes so I advise him to get a milligram scale because you never know when you need to weigh something lighter than 1/10 gram.

Decent scales are only about $50 but they get you with the batteries. Last scale I had I had to go to radioshack everytime I wanted to replace the batteries and cost me $10 every time.

Thanks for the answer. I will be weighing out "chemicals" to anyone interested. I actually don't smoke weed; I just said I'll only need it to be accurate to a tenth of a gram because I know to be accurate to the hundredth would be much more expensive. It's easier for me to take a small financial loss due to a reaction not completing as thoroughly as it should than spending $100 USD+ on a scale. I never do anything serious.

My advice is to get a scale with a guarantee (mine came with 2 years) which isn't too expensive. Definitely go for the 0.01g range and you will probably want one with at least a maximum load of 100 or 250g.

I have a set of these and they have been nothing but a pleasure to use. They are very accurate, weigh in 0.01g, have 4 different weigh modes, a tare setting and weigh up to 50g. Also, the front pops out when you push it and goes back in when pushed in and the weighing tray is also a nice protective cover.

These type of scales used to go for £60/£70 ($120) but now are cheap as fuck; however, there are a lot of crap ones out there too! Fuzion have always been great and cheap, too.

I had a nice one with a metal pad like that but I lost it. I lent it to a junky who was selling H and one day he told me some mad story about some knife wielding Turks kicking his door in and robbing him.

To the OP - Don't buy your scale in a headshop. I made that mistake and got ripped off. Never lend your scale to a junky either. They're thieving bastards all of them.

At £10 ($20), they're a steal and worth every penny! Get another set, too cheap not to.

* Junkies are a nightmare, even if the guy was your best mate, sadly, you can no longer trust him once he becomes a junky - Every 2nd word will be a lie, any cash you lend understand that it will never come back and don't leave your wallet on the table/keys or any valuables alone with him. If he knows where your stash is/spare keys are, change the place, it's only a matter of time before 'something' happens.

Yeah nothing compares to having a digital scale. I see people with those old fashioned balances saying they're good enough but theres no comparison.

It's ridiculous isn't it. It's like the heroin takes all their morals. That particular junky is a good friend but I can't trust him with anything of value. I was naive once or twice thinking I can trust him cuz he's a good friend but I learned my lesson.

i have a .01 scale and a .001, because the capacity on my .001 is only 10g. my .001 is actually a shitty $30 ebay scale and i should have spent the extra money to get a higher quality scale.

the .01 i have looks like this: http://www.digitalpostalscales.co.uk/shop/shopimages/products/thumbnails/nv_150_silver_01.jpg but i think that one is just a .1

Fucking lol, not this tool again :(

I have two scales:
0.01 g max wieght 1kg
0.001 g max weight 500g

I rarely use the second scale but it was on sale for 110 Euros and it looks great and good for RC :)

BTW is there a point to those triple beam balances (mechanical scales) in lab applications? especially if you already got a digi??

Part 2 to this question: Which would be more accurate (assuming they're priced the same), a triple beam or digital?

Also, does anyone have a link to that writeup of how to make an electric ug scale? I don't need it but it might be good to share. I've been thinking about it and how hard it would be to make it automated. In the instructions you need to set the current (or voltage, I'm no good with electricity) so it would make a needle stay at 0. First you would calibrate it by getting the current for at least 3 known weights then plot a chart and find where what you are weighing is on it. I hope that made sense...:(

I've got no idea what you mean... are you saying that ug scale would be hard to make? It looked kind of hard, but possible even for someone who doesn't know much about electronics. It would be a hell of a lot cheaper, even including the time it takes to make it.

Do you know what a μg scale is? As in a microgram scale. As in 1/1000 mg scale. As in $13,000+.

Commercial scales:

Fuzion are a good make, I have scales of theirs which only weigh to 0.1g, good scales, I would have said they were good value for money at £15, but after UK_TOM posted a link to some much better ones for a tenner, go for them.
