For N2O go to a restaurant/kitchen supply store and ask for whipped cream chargers. Alternatively, you can look on ebay for much cheaper prices. Amazon also has them, but the price is higher. You have to be 18 to buy nitrous legally. Ebay will obviously be more lenient on the age than a physical store will be, however.

Ether is harder to find. Don't try to do a "water extraction" from starter fluid. It doesn't work, (stupid noob can take it from here) and it's dangerous. I got a bottle from a friend that stole it from a lab in his college about 6 months ago.

Don't I need a cracker for whipped cream chargers? Any tips on where to get one of those, or just how to use the charger?

Not in most states. Just harder to get. Also, try ebay. :)
