Citalopram experiences
Howdy folks just wondering if anyone had any anecdotes abotu the usage of citalopram recreationally or indeed just other similar antidepressants? Any interesting or worrisome side effects that you observed or know of?
Just looking for some general info really, I've googled it and checked out the wiki article but alot of the remotely technical stuff is over my head. Also wasn't sure if I was walking into a blatantly bad idea without realising it.
Cheers in advance.

Re: Citalopram experiences
I was taking it for a while just recently at 20 mg a day and it seemed to be helping out with depression and even anxiety a bit (in conjunction with Wellbutrin) but the first week or so I got REALLY bad sexual side effects (couldn't bust a nut to save my life) and once in a while it just made me feel odd.
I eventually came to my senses again and realized how all SSRIS are some of the most horrible drugs in the world of pharmaceuticals and cut myself off from it.
If you absolutely have to take an SSRI go with Lexapro IMO.

Re: Citalopram experiences
i was on 30mg for the longest time and it just made me feel "too level" almost. I prefer to be unmedicated even if im unbalanced and a bit fucking insane, having to rely on medications to function in society makes me feel like a weak minded bafoon(no offense to anyone on medications), that's just always how IVE felt about it.
you arent going to get any fun of it though, it's a therapeutic drug not a rectreational one.

Re: Citalopram experiences
i was on celexa for 2 months. i believe the first 3 weeks the dosage was at 20mg/day, but was increased to 40mg. from what i can remember, it rid me of my emotions for the most part, made me eat an extra meal everyday(4m/day), lowered my motivation/drive/ambition, and helped my anxiety a little bit. i discontinued the treatment after the second month and was glad to be off of it. though it took another 3-4 weeks to make me feel normal.
oh, i can't believe i forgot to mention the most significant side effect it gave me... ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION. it was painful, man. an 18 year old having sexual problems after taking a piece of shit pharm that's supposed to "fix" you. everyone is different, and it definitely did not work for me. i would have taken lexapro, a newer generation version of celexa. that is, if it didn't fucking cost $180 for a months supply. lexapro contains the s-enantiomer which gives the anti-depressant effect, where as, celexa contains both the s/r-enantiomers. the extra isomer is considered to cause citalopram's extra unwanted side effects, so escitalopram doesn't contain that. courtesy of wikipedia.
