Apparently, Obama would rather buy "clean" oil from the terrorists in the Middle East and see US dollars leave American wallets never to return than "dirty" oil from the US' ally Canada where oil revenues make it right back to the United States due to the strong mutual trade relationship (tons of Canadians cross the border to stop, especially with the strong Canadian dollar now).

You're putting a spin on this, Obama's concern is obviously the environment, taking the oil from our oil sands is horribly bad for the environmental and therefor he wants cleaner oil.

Ignoring things like the extremely high cost of separating the oil from the sand? The only reason the oilsands are doing so well right now is the higher cost of traditional oil markets...Obama would do well to realize the price of oil isn't always going to be sky-high and that by actively supporting dirty oil he would be going against his claim to be at least supportive of environmental initiatives.

Bah, an envirofag like him will only drive the price of oil up with regulations and the price of gas up with more taxes. If Obama gets in I wouldn't be surprised to see $8 a gallon during his term.

I'd be nice to know whether getting oil from the middle east, then transporting it across the world and refining in the US is worse then useing the oil sands, putting it in a pipe and sending it south.

Regardless if the US stops buying our Canadian oil it wont impact the world. China is backing a proposed pipe line from alberta to BC coast where it will be shipped to china, and any other country who wants it (theres plenty).

The smarter thing for the US is to do is to get of the middle east oil. The nafta agreement makes canada responsible for a steady supply of oil to the US. We cant reduce our output to the US unless we do the same here. Having a secure energy supply, when our entire fucking countries rely on it isnt something to fuck with.

You have to compete with the oil with an alternative. Not cut the oil of, and hope an alternative presents itself. Its called a free market.
