I've been hooking up with this Ukrainian foreign exchange student, and let me tell you, foreign women are MUCH better than American women.

It is a little strange though. There's a slight language barrier at the moment, but she's VERY intelligent (compared to any American women I know), so it isn't really difficult talking to her. It's hard to hold conversation on the phone though, that's for sure. Not to mention I'm not sure if there are different customs, etc. from the Ukraine that she's used to following.

For instance, I took her over to my place and I still live with my parents. She did not like being over here when they were here, she was saying that in her country you don't dare bring home a girl or boy without formally introducing them first.

Only thing not so great about this girl is that she doesn't smoke pot. Although the first few days we hung out she did, she told me she doesn't like it and not to pass it to her anymore. Now, that's not going to turn me off from this girl at all, but that seems to be the only thing that could really be better about this beautiful foreign woman.

Anyone here dating a foreign exchange student and have any information to spread?

This should be a good topic considering we could put lots of different cultures here and explain the do's and don'ts of dating them.

I tripped mushrooms with a German exchance student once, and we made out, but this was when I was like 16 and I also speak German, to an extent.

Hm...I don't really know much about Ukrainian culture or anything, nor have I ever known anyone to date an exchance student, but I would imagine that her culture is very different, but there are many similarities with ours.

Maybe just gauge her reactions to things and react accordingly? That's the best advice I can give you.

Naturally when my mom told me I didn't really care, I broke up with her, I don't give a shit what she does. But than yesterday I find out for a fact that the 25 year old doesn't exist, I already didn't really believe it.

To whoever said American women are better, although my perceptions are early with THIS girl, I still believe from what I know that Foreign women are better. Not all of them, but on a ratio there are more foreign women that would make better partners than American. My friend Andrew isn't really that great of a friend, definitely not one of my better friends.

And yeah, I worked at a restaurant during the busy season, so minimal hours but lots of money... so I didn't work much and I had all that money to spend, decided that smoking pot was a good hobby.

Yeah I've had some experiences with a European foreign exchange student so here it goes:

Sometimes you are just being used as an "North American toy". I got with this exchange chick last term, and things were going well untill I saw her facebook page. The relationship status had someone from her home countries name on it.

Don't worry about the language barrier. It can sometimes cover up for your own misgivings/mild awkwardness.

I'd actually wish she WAS going back home.

She's gotten rather strange...

Talks about how she wants to stay here but she has to get married to do so. She never directly says anything about me marrying her, she never even talks about how we could, just talks about how she's going to have to find a husband.

I don't know if she expects that from me or not which makes me feel uneasy. There's no way in hell I'd marry her, especially considering I've only known her for 2 weeks, and she has to get married or leaves in about 3 months.

I think within the next few days the fun will have ended for me, because I can't string this girl along if she really expects me to marry her, or if she's trying to get me to by dropping all these hints. I'm not exactly sure if they are hints, but they kinda seem like them. Because I haven't straight up said anything about how there's no way in hell I'm going to marry her, but I haven't even begun to hint towards that I was or put up some kind of act.

Once I tell her I'm not going to marry her regardless, I'll probably not have to worry about hanging out with her ever again... kinda a shame considering she has been fun.

Very nice, however, she looks like she suffers from the same problem my ex (and this other ukranian chick I dated) had.

She takes herself too seriously (ie, I don't smoke pot, that's for kids, I'm an adult)

It's a shame, usually those people take themselves, money, and "older people" too seriously and can't just relax and have a good time.

Because when I busted out some nitrous and explained to her what it was, she gave it a try... then she proceeded to suck down like 6 canisters.

I have two theories on why she doesn't smoke.

Number one is that she really just thinks it's unhealthy and doesn't want to do it.

But more so, number two, she thinks it will effect her chances of having children. Their culture is really brought up to raise more children asap. These girls are supposed to be married before their 23 really. Than, they're supposed to have children as soon as possible. I'm not down with having kids at my age, no way at all. So, I'm probably going to start steering clear soon.

It's good to live a lie a little longer, just don't get caught up in it.

I'm not saying lie to her outright about the children issue...but I'm sure you can get another month or two out of it.
