Cliff jumping
One of the biggest rushes I've ever felt comes from cliff jumping. I just recently got started by jumping off this boathouse thing at a big lake in NC. But I'm starting to get more and more into it. Finding good spots, jumping and swimming with friends is just a real fun thing to do during the summer time.
Anyone else into it?

Re: Cliff jumping
Back in the day there used to be this willow tree at a lake not far from here with branches going all out over the water, for like 3 summers I went every other day and jumped off the 15' branch. There was also a rope swing which was fucking awesome. One time I got fucked though- someone had tied a small string on the end of the rope so it would be easier to pull up to the tree, and when I was swinging it wrapped around my leg. I didn't notice in time and let go, and was promptly jerked back upside down, hanging from my leg. I got crazy bad rope burn. Since then the town has cut off all the good branches and the ladder to get up, so no more fun times at the lake. In texas visiting my friend I jumped off a 30' cliff, which my friends dad dove off. I dove of a little 10' one and it killed my head, so no more high diving for me. Other than that my cliff jumping career has been pretty shitty. Also in texas we went to a party on a party boat where you could jump off the top, which was pretty sweet, but that was like 10 feet. How do you find all the good spots? I've never really figured out how to track them down, but I got a car and lots of free time this summer so I'd love to find some places.

Re: Cliff jumping
I've seen people jumping off some pretty tall bridges. Other than that I've mostly done under 20 feet jumps from trees and rope swings. But that was still fun as hell.

Re: Cliff jumping
There is a nice spot by Alouette Lake called Gold Creek.
It's a fairly narrow but deep stretch of water with some awesome sidecliffs to jump off of. Heights to suit all adrenaline needs.

Re: Cliff jumping
Cliff jumping is great. There's a great spot in Malibu, California. Here's a video of some random people cliff jumping there. There's a nice jump at 0:28.

Not to sound like your mother, but you're going to end up hitting your head and getting a spinal cord injury.

Re: Cliff jumping
A couple months back I went back home for a week to see old friends and see my family. Well, a couple of my buddies and I ended up kayaking in a pretty big creek, Soldier Creek. A couple miles down, we passed this bridge and that sparked an idea. We wanted to jump from a bridge into the creek.
A couple more miles down and we were in deep water and some yards ahead we saw a bridge. To be honest with you this would be my first time jumping that high down to a creek or anything in a long ass time, and I was nervous. We swam around to see if it was deep enough and it was. So we all headed up onto the bridge and I was nervous as fuck, so I let them go first. One went at a time doing front-flips, back-flips, other stuff and then it was my turn. First thing I did I looked down the bridge and it looked like it was going to be a long ass drop. I hesitated a couple times and then I said fuck it. Jumped and it was one of the best feelings ever. I've really missed that feeling. Pretty good feeling.
Not exactly cliff jumping but fun as cliff jumping.

Re: Cliff jumping
That malibu video sucks. Dudes have awful form that can/will end up getting them injured.
Up here in my corner of the NE we are all about our quarries, there's like 5 spots within 20 minutes with up to 100 foot drops. Biggest jump for me thus far has been 65 feet (measured). That height is already pretty scary, something I only did twice (plus I have vertigo and fear of heights haha) I usually wear light shoes to break the water better. If you fuck up your form above 50ish feet you WILL get hurt, mildly or otherwise. I've seen it from a healthy body-slap to a dude breaking his neck diving a 48 footer (idiot....no sympathy).
