FAAH inhibition and complications
... inhibitors of FAAH lead to elevated anandamide levels and are being pursued for therapeutic use. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anandamide)
FAAH (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAAH)
A few questions ...
How does anandamide compare with smoking pot, if anyone knows?
What else would FAAH inhibition do to your body?
Have any of the more ... adventurous posters attempted this?
Not that I am seriously considering it. Pot is fine, I just find this interesting.

Re: FAAH inhibition and complications
the only thing worse than a stupid stoner is an asshole anandamidehead. at least stoners pretty much keep to themselves and you know that after you get a little older and pass them in social ranking then you really dont have to worry about their bullshit too much. but all these retard faganandamide dipshits do is talk about how elevated their levels are and how totally inhibited their FAAH is. get a life

Re: FAAH inhibition and complications
it is not going to get you high. Anandamide affects things like hunger and sleep but it is not going to cause noticeable euphoria.
Well maybe it could increase pleasure. From wiki:
"In addition, anandamide injected directly into the forebrain reward-related brain structure nucleus accumbens enhances the pleasurable responses of rats to a rewarding sucrose taste, and enhances food intake as well."
Route of administration does not sound very pleasurable though.
"Anandamide's long hydrocarbon tail makes it fat-soluble and allows it to easily slip across the hydrocarbon-rich curtain that isolates the brain from the bloodstream. Notice that its three-dimensional shape strongly resembles that of THC. But unlike THC, anandamide is fragile. It breaks down very quickly in the body. That explains why anandamide doesn't produce a perpetual natural 'high'. "

Re: FAAH inhibition and complications
I've eaten several grams of cocoa and noticed a marked difference in my marijuana high. Then, in this stoned state, I decided to try some type of extraction on the rest of the cocoa, filled it up too much, went to heat the flask, and fucking BOOM chocolate fucking everywhere, I couldn't do anything but stand there and laugh my ass off.

funny thing is they retested chocolate and did not find the presence of anandamide.

I know I know it is from wiki, I knew I read it somewhere.
"Anandamide occurs in minute quantities in sea urchin roe.[5] Anandamide was reported to be present in chocolate[6] in small quantitities that were not be assumed to have pharmacological or psychoactive effects.[7] However, a later study failed to repeat these findings and did not detect anandamide in chocolate.[8]"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anandamide
So maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I dont really care anyway.

Perhaps, but this thread is about FAAH inhibition (which degrades the body's anandamide), leading to elevated anandamide levels. Not about putting new anandamiden into the body.
Know anything about administering FAAH inhibitors? Or other changes FAAH inhibition would make in the body?
"... It breaks down very quickly in the body. That explains why anandamide doesn't produce a perpetual natural 'high'. "
Maybe FAAH inhibition would change that.

funny thing is they retested chocolate and did not find the presence of anandamide.
But they did find lots of other long-chain organic amides, many of which are suspected of being FAAH inhibitors.
...not that it matters much, since the beautiful amino profile of cocoa would be enough to fuck with one's stone anyway.
Know anything about administering FAAH inhibitors?
Step 1... aquire FAAH inhibitor??

Probably painkilling. Both the COX inhibitors and APAP (in its arachindoylphenolamide metabolite) operate on the cannabinoid pathway, which basically accounts for all OTC pain inhibition.
Might also increase COX activity if one's cannabinoid neurotransmission were percieved to be supersufficient... or possibly not. You'll probably want to have a lot of phosphatidylic acid in your diet, obviously.
Congrats on a winning topic.

Re: FAAH inhibition and complications
I saw a site recently that sold several of the legal FAAH inhibitors, including anandamide, but the shit is fucking expensive.

Quite an important first step I'd say. Do you know how I would find out if there are any nearby plants which contain URB597 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/URB597)? ;)

That doesn't sound terrible.

Re: FAAH inhibition and complications
Joepedo, regarding your comments on OTC drugs acting on the cannabinoid pathway, I recently met a strange fellow online, who also seemed to be a powerhouse of knowledge, who disputed that comment when I mentioned it during a conversation about pain relief, and the different choices one has.
He, like you, is quite the elusive vague motherfucker, and has since deleted himself from the website I was talking to him over, I meant to ask you about this before, and forgot, and during my talks with the shadow man, I was totally off on more important topics to remember something so minor.
Now, I of course have done my own research on this, basic shit so far really, and it SEEMS right to me, as do all your posts, but on this one, just to satiate my own curiosity, I am asking you to expand upon the subject a bit, and enlighten me. It's very rarely I am caught off guard by bullshit (I am pretty sure ;) ) and the man in question seemed to know a lot about a lot of things, and, just like you, everything checked out, EXCEPT that one thing.
Cuz you know me, people will tell me shit, and my obsession won't let me rest until I look it up.
If you actually do it, thank you so much for your time. And really, when the fuck are you gonna be modded man? Bongtech is SUPPOSED to be leaving, which opens up a slot there in LT, and he has already vouched for you as next in line, as have I and the other LT mods, but I don't know what the hell the hold up is. Waiting on jeff maybe?
I honestly feel really bad that I got LT mod before you. I've said it before I was modded, and I'll say it again, you are a much more worth candidate.
Though, if people were modded based on sheer mass of knowledge alone, I'd wager you would mod damn near every forum we have.

Normally, I'd say "automated combinatorial research with a GC-MS," but unlike most exotic new interesting things... that looks trivially easy to make. Look up the exciting field of ortholithiation for how to get that nifty 2,6 (or 3,5) substitution - or, just a guiding nitro group - 'n once there, it's just a mix of friedel-crafts, nickel hydrogenation, formation of formyl mohohalide, and a little esterification.

A noble trait... here ya go.
NSAIDS

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclooxygenase
'n APAP's a little more direct than diverting fuckloads of precursor to the pathway...

:D

heh. No worries, it's only fair that I accept being the first point of research for shit that comes out of my keyboard. ;)
...as to when I'll get my nifty sig... I don't freakin' know. I'm pretty sure I set a new record for number of mods begging for me to be modded, though, lol. ;)
~shrug~ I'll end up mod of something sooner or later. If not LT, there's probably a few other forums which would probably take effort to try to take me in...
...but you're the one that can actually read the discussion, lol. You know more of what's going on than I do... in theory, anyways.
...but I so hope it goes forward. Replying in locked posts? Priceless lulz. ;)

Re: FAAH inhibition and complications
Well damn, that was quite straight forward. Now I feel stupid, and should have just kept looking. Thank you, and what in the holy hell was this other guy talking about? I am quite confused now, because I went on with this guy for a couple weeks over a pm system, and he was spot on with everything else. And now he's gone. Sometimes I think people just enjoy fucking with me.
