Default MPD - Turning up treble

Hi I'm running a debian media server. I recently purchased some new cheap speakers for it (Logitech r-20) and I'm wondering how can I control the treble and bass volumes through MPD?

I want to turn the bass down a little and the treble up quite a bit. The server is headless and I can't find any command line tools to do this.

Cheers

Edit: alsamixer doesn't have a separate bass/treble for this driver... Can you think of any other options?

Cheers Zok, I tried running jack but had some real problems getting it to work. Eventually when I did get it going, the server just didn't have enough ram and all the music would play slow then sped up then play slow etc.

I've decided to purchase a hardware equalizer instead...
