Cool Nicotine I can't beleive I'm saying this...

Well, here's how it goes... something like 60+ hours ago(I stopped counting) I quit a 7 year smoking habit about a pack and a half a day.. cold turkey.. now at first it wasn't so bad but after about 6 hours the irritation started to begin.. big deal... some irritation im always irritated anyway so it didn't bother me much... now fast foward to yesterday when I started getting the mega hot flashes and hallucination, yes i said hallucinations, all day I was fucking convinced there was a black flying disk following me around(haha, lame I know), now here I was going to quit smoking thinking nicotine withdrawls would be a big joke compared to coming off other drugs but now I'm begining to think nicotine withdrawls are worse than fucking coke withdrawls. I mean hallucinations, I've never heard about nicotine hallucinations mentioned before, but yet, here just a few minutes ago I saw the flying black disk again which reminded me of yesterdays hallucinations and thus inspired this thread.

I mean I knew quitting smoking would be fucking hard but seeing black things flying around in the air is just a tad bit creepy and very unexpected. It feels almost the same as coke withdrawls(believe it or not) minus the paranoid/"brain fuck" feeling and im actually sweating morenow than I have before coming off hard coke binges.

Another thing that's bugging me is my teeth are hurting like a motherfuck and I can't stop chewing on things and I can't stop eating.. I've had a toothpick or a wooden skewer in my mouth for the last 3 days now.

Jesus, maybe I should have a cigarette before I start seeing pink elephants and shit.

This is the kind of stuff I guess they don't advertise on those quit smoking commercials and campaigns.

SIDE EFFECTS CAN INCLUDE FLYING BLACK DISKS FOLLOWING YOU EVER WHERE YOU GO AND YOU'LL TEETH JUST LIKE YOU DID WHEN YOU WERE 8 MONTHS OLD.

blargh I'm so irritated I could punch a hole in my computer screen right now.

The end.

Nicotine is supposed to be good for crazy people, so maybe you were just self medicating for some minor condition. Because, those arn't normal symptoms.

Sorry to tell you this, but a mate of mine quit 8 or so weeks ago cold turkey, and she says it doesn't get any easier. Just get some nicotine patches so that you can ween yourself off, rather than just stopping.

Also, make sure you've constantly got something you can chew on for the first couple of weeks (like a pen or pencil - nothing edible) so you don't have to deal with the withdrawals from stopping the habit of constantly having a fag to suck on.

It is difficult, but stay with it and you'll be happier - a lot better off for cash as well .

Edit: if you smoke pot regularly (i.e. at least once a day), I'd advise you keep smoking blunts instead of mixing with tobacco. Trying to quit two habits at once often ends in failure - another mate discovered this recently...

more power to you man. it is rewarding journey to finally take ownership of your body and realize you are the sole decider of what you put into it. and then to act upon that, so cheers.

Has she been smoking a pack and a half a day for 7 years? I didn't think so.

I will not give in to these homosexual cravings for a cig.

i didn't smoke for as long as you did, but i was definitely addicted to cigarettes. when i first wanted to quit, it was tough, but finally i just realized how utterly disgusting cigarettes are, and how i just don't enjoy them anymore. IMO, weed is 100x better.

so, for a while i just stopped buying packs, but still smoked fairly often. but now i just have no desire to smoke, it's been like that for a while.

i smoked a cig on 2C-I friday night, and it was awesome. it was the last of like 4 marb smooths my friend traded me for a bowl. after it i wanted to smoke another, but i was just like fuck that (i didn't even have any) and i broke out the bong.

smoking weed on 2c-i roockkksss btw.

but anyways dude, i think you should stick with it, because as someone already said, once you decide you don't want a chemical in your body, it's extremely satisfying to be able to take control and do what you want to do.

if you think you can handle it, smoke every once in a while. but there's a lot of people that can't. i just know myself, and i know that i can smoke every once in a while (even less now) and be totally fine, i don't "relapse" or anything.

i'd suggest getting nic patches for the w/ds dude, and work your way down. those fuckers give you craazzyy ass dreams if you go to sleep with them on, too

bull shit.

there are plenty of people who totally quit just fine.

as for me, i know that i can smoke occaisionally and not have a problem anymore, but 98% of the time i choose not to because they are gross as fuck, and not satisfying unless im drunk, tripping, or on some various drug, on a special occaision.

if i never had a cig again in my life i wouldnt mind a bit.

no dude, you don't know me for shit, so don't pretend like you do.

i have absolutely no problem not smoking, and i know this because i know myself, so i couldn't care less if you think i'm in denial, it doesn't affect me in any way.

if i had a cigarette in front of me right now, i'd walk down to my friend's house and give it to him. because even the thought of smoking one right now repulses me.

or id just be like, uhhh fuck that. and like, put it in my drawer or something. needless to say, i wouldn't smoke it.

i am, however, about to go smoke a few nice, fluffy, tasty nuggets of cannabis. sounds super enticing right about now:D

I quit marijuana and cigs at the same time cold turkey. You can do it, it just takes will power. Occupy yourself with something else. I took up road biking. It worked fairly well, but I still had to fight cravings.

Every time I wanted to smoke, I just went on a bike ride and it reduced the cravings. It's hard man, I won't lie. It takes a lot of strength to get through it, but your wallet and lungs will thank you. I'm sure you can find something that will fill that void.

Sorry, I'm a little drunk, I hope everything made sense...

lol, you still drink, but stopped smoking weed?

IMO, you got your priorities all screwed up man, at least health-wise...

i don't know your situation though, if you don't like it, have to get UAs, or whatever, good for you.

but like, AFAIK alcohol fucks with your body a lott more than weed does.

but i don't think i will ever stop smoking weed. it helps me a lot, with anxiety, stress, and a lot of other things, plus i just enjoy it so damn much:D

My grandpa smoked for 29 years at least a pack a day and quit cold turkey. You'll feel great about yourself knowing that nic addiction was no match for your will power.

I don't know how/if/when I will quit.

I've been at roughly a half a pack a day for about a year (some days as few as 3, days i get drunk or i chill with friends who smoke cigs i will probably light up between 20-30 cigs)

But honestly, when I'm sober cigs are so damn gross, and I always regret smoking it, but i go through the motions. When I'm high cigs are so amazing and don't get me started on when I'm drunk.

(I smoke weed mostly every day.. and I don't drink too often)

The OP is an impressively cold-blooded hardass. I quit benzos in much the same way, except I did occasionally break the cold-turkey rule.

Once you decide to stop, like the OP has, you've already won the battle, the rest is just cleaning up and hard work.

Congratulations spinal, please keep us informed on your experiences.

And the rest of you smokers should be ashamed.

Good luck man. I, too, decided to quit. I'm 58 days in, and haven't (as of yet) given in to temptation.

It's probably not a good sign that I'm counting the days though, is it? :(

Meh last night I had 3 puffs of my roommates cig, that's pretty good i think considering this fucking apartment is ripe with cigarette and pot smoke 24/7.

I wonder if all the second hand smoke is gonna fuck up my quitting effort?

well, it all depends on how bad you want it man.

for sure, people smoking around you all the time isn't going to make anything any easier.

if you are really serious about completely quitting, you could try asking your roommates to not give you any cigs/let you hit them, even if you ask, if you're worried about giving in.

but, honestly, i think that's your job, and once you really decide what you want to do, it's just a matter of sticking with it.

good luck man.

same here man. that commercial actually had some truth to it though. i can not drive a car without smoking a cig, and if i have to, for whatever reason, drive smokelessly, i get the urge to swerve into an oncoming minivan and kill all the happy children inside it.

It DOES get easier as time goes on. I've been quit for nearly a year now (I think I smoked for nine years), and most days I don't even seriously consider smoking a cigarette.
