I know that it's not really advisable to quick anything cold turkey (as it's basically unneeded punishment) But, enough is enough - and I want this to be over with as soon as possible.

24mgs of Suboxone a day makes me feel like complete shit - and I haven't tried to stop taking it yet. The thing is, though, I hear all kinds of horror stories on how detoxing from it is less tolerable than detoxing from dope.

I don't know if this is a myth or not - so I figured I might as well ask - when should I expect the initial WD symptoms to begin? I've heard anything from 3 days, to 5, to 7.

I've also heard all kinds of horror stories on how it lasts much longer than dope withdrawal. Like I said - I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask and hopefully receive answers from people who have more experience on this matter than myself.

WILL it be more intense than detoxing from dope?

Yeah - I've always assumed it was people just getting Suboxone and Methadone confused.

But, like I said - I don't have all the answers, so I figured I would ask.

Methadone is the terrible one to detox off. I think people just confused.

I've never heard of it, but I have detoxed from methadone that is sheer hell. I've researched this 'suboxone' and would really like some . I've never even seen it before.

Suboxone was a cake walk to come off of Cold Turkey, compared to the hell that is Methadone.

It's really not that bad. Detoxing off of H is much more painful and intense, but only lasts 5-7 days, where Suboxone withdrawals can and will last up to 2-3 weeks or longer.

Usually withdrawals will come to at 3-4 days after your last dose, and progressively get worse until about 10-14 days later where it will slowly get better and better.

The length of the withdrawals of course depend on the dose and the length of time you've been on the drug for maintenance.

If I were you, I would try and jump down to 16mg for 3 or 4 days, then down to 8mg for another 3-4 days, and jump cold turkey from no more than 8mg (And even less if you can get below 8mg for 3-4 days. That's completely up to you though; but you can save yourself some unnecessary torture (Or at least decrease the severity of it) by rapidly tapering your dose for a few days at a time (If you have no time to do it correctly) until you get to the lowest dose possible that is comfortable for you.

BTW, 24mg sounds like a bit much to be on for maintenance. At first it was thought that the ceiling of Suboxone (Buprenorphine) was at 32mg, however it has since been proven to be much lower, at 16mg; meaning any dose over 16mg has absolutely no extra/more medicinal effect(s) than that at 16mg.

How long have you been at that [24mg] dose? Because I'm willing to bet that if you go down to 16mg or 8mg a day instead of 24mg (And give it a chance for a week or two), you will feel 100% better than you do now and may not even want to jump any more.

Of course any decisions you make or are thinking about should be discussed with your prescribing doctor before any action is taken, and if you are getting it illegally, then I guess you're S.O.L.

You prbably will get some withdrawal from 24mgs a day. But it wont be as bad as witdrawing from any full agonist. The reason you feel shity is probably because your on such a huge dose as it can cause more dysphoria at higher doses.. I would suggest you start weaning off until you are down to 2mgs and then jump off the bupe.
