Default Misrepresentation and Insincerity

This post is going to be about talking to God...something known as prayer.

Many people pray with 'vain repetitions'...Praise God this, praise God that, amen this, amen that, hallelujah this, hallelujah that...total bullshit.

Frankly, I get pissed off at God. I feel abandoned by God some times. I get really frustrated with the day to day bullshit I experience sometimes. It's not all praise and thanks...a lot of the time I'm an ungrateful SoB and I actually start accusing God of trying to fuck me over and ruin me (ya know, because I'm so important that God takes time out of his day to plot against me, haha). But that's how I sincerely feel.

I tell God how I sincerely feel...if I'm pissed off, he hears my wrath. If I'm afraid, he hears my concers. If I'm lonely, he hears my feelings of abandonment. It isn't through bullshit like feeling like killing my self and lying through my teeth, "Praise God for this blessed day," that I grow into a real relationship with my Creator. What good does it do me or God to pretend like I'm not infuriated with him at times? What good does it do either to be insincere, to misrepresent my self to the One who knows me completely already?

To you atheists out there...ya know, telling God that you don't believe he exists is a great starting point to a rather wonderful friendship. I started off praying some time ago with, "You dirty motherfucker, how could you do all of this to me? I don't even think you exist, but here I am, cursing you anyways." Over time, I've come to call what I thought to be a boundless void of the imagination my friend. Deluded? Maybe. It's hard though, to continue believing there's nothing there when you get an answer for the first time.

Peace, back to work for me.

Edit: And sometimes, my boss walks in, hands me a sub sandwich for lunch, and 30$ cash, and tells me he may or may not come back today. These are the times when it's like, "Whoa, thanks G."

Accept everything that happens, it happens for a reason. There is no such thing as a "coincidence."

Hooray for unconditional love!

1. Athiests can curse God all they want, they are only hurting themselves.

2. Boundless Void, Prana, Chi, Soul, Essence, Life Energy, call it whatever you want, it is the true "energy" of this reality.

3. If I may quote The Celestine Prophecy: "...their evidence shall be their experience."

Neither I nor any other atheist that I know of would bother striking up a conversation with an imaginary being simply to tell such a being that we don't believe in him/it. It'd be kind of pointless, don't you think? When's the last time you told Santa that you don't believe in him?

This is an important point. Many of us do NOT think of God as any kind of "being"--and many so-called Christians do seem to confuse their God with Santa Claus, both of whom make lists of who is naughty or nice and hand out goodies or punishments accordingly.

God--or the Universe, the Force, the flow, the Atman, whatever you conceive him/her/it/them/whatever to be--does NOt reward or punish, neither judges nor condemns.

Yes, it is true that God has never abandoned me, harmed me, nor ever done anything other than provide perfect love to me...but I don't always recognize nor feel that way. Oft times, due to my own shortcomings, I find reasons to justify dissent and find disagreement with God. Pretending, in my prayers and meditations, that I don't feel this way makes it impossible to smash these delusional feelings and thoughts.

AF, I'm not sure whether you're complimenting what's been put forth by my words or trying to mock me. Could you expand your thoughts into a discussion? That being, if you have the time to do so.

I'm not sure if I should be flattered that you've noticed my absence or if you're admonishing me for not posting much here lately. :p

But back to discussion:

I thought pretending was a good fit, since it implies that you're fully aware that you're choosing to ignore your so-called "shortcomings" while you fantasize yourself into the warmfuzzery.

It wasn't a potshot, I was complimenting your having acknowledged that it's somewhat of a trick you play on yourself. We all do it at some point and to some extent - people just rarely admit it aloud.

kudos, and whatnot. That's what I meant to convey.

Ignore them? Nay, this is the exact opposite of ignoring them. This is being true to my self. I understand all my problems arise from my own faults, not the world around me. One of my shortcomings IS shifting blame, so I am also aware that even though inside my self I know the fault lays with me, I will treat another occasionally as if it is their own. Is this 'good' of me? Hell no, but it's authentic...it's part of me that I struggle to overcome.

I gleefully admit to my faults because it's the only way to shed enough light on them to overcome them. I'm clingy, narcissistic, deceptive, selfish, and vengeful...amongst others. Letting my God know of my struggles with these things and my dissatisfaction with the resulting chaos they bring is vital to me overcoming these very defects. Will I ever be beyond their reach and ability to cause disruptions in my life and those around me? No. I won't. But if I don't aim for perfection, I won't even make progress.

BTW, I've been absent a bit much my self lately due to work and social responsibilities...I just added that kicker there guessing you'd be in a similar situation.

Correct me if I am wrong, Hex, but you have met God face to face and spoken directly to God, right?

Just seems like you don't even have to pray to him, when he is right across the kitchen table from you, buttering up some toast or enjoying a hot pocket.

Do you have any advice for us if we meet him face to face, or advice on how to schedule such a meeting, instead of advice or testimony on prayer?

There is nothing that can prepare you for meeting God, although, I will say it is not what you expect it to be.

Look inward, and there you will find the kingdom of God. Also, don't pray to God, LISTEN to God.

I appreciate your answer, kurdt, I do, but I was asking the person who actually met God face to face.

Perhaps you should ask him some things as well. I mean HE MET GOD. That is something amazing, very Moses-like. I mean if he met God that means he must be pretty important. Perhaps he is a new prophet, or a herald to the second coming.

Surely, God didn't just meet him face to face for shits and giggles.

So Hex any advice on meeting God you can give us from your own personal experience?

There are a lot more records of face to face meetings with spiritual beings than AM's and yes he is "pretty important"! As for being a "new prophet"(obsession of yours -- b/prophet?) I think AM would agree there's little that's new and the second coming is a metaphorical event one hopes will soon come to you! Perhaps then you will realise that sarcasm, vilification and mockery are the hallmarks of uncontrolled ego.

I was talking about Hex meeting God face to face. I did not know that AM has as well. Interesting.

What do you think makes AM/Hex more important than the majority of people out there who have not been fortunate enough to meet a God face to face? Or perhaps it could have just been a right place ,right time deal.

As for being a "new prophet"(obsession of yours -- b/prophet?) I think AM would agree there's little that's new and the second coming is a metaphorical event one hopes will soon come to you!

It is not an obsession, I can see how you come that conclusion so quickly as I mentioned a word that exists in my handle just now. Seriously, do you say everything that you think without the "this might be a dumb ass thing to say" buffer most the rest of us have?

I was merely supposing and did so in question form. I did not say they are prophets, I was just curious whether or not God visted them face to face for some grand Moses-like purpose.....or if he just dropped in to say Hi.

Perhaps then you will realise that sarcasm, vilification and mockery are the hallmarks of uncontrolled ego.

What then is your judgement and accusation? Are these the hallmarks of a controlled ego?

Stones, glass houses and what not.

My bad on the Typo, typical of your behaviour to use that as a means to mock what you are so obviously ignorant of. How could you know? Who is to say Hex is more fortunate? Perhaps Hex was awake enough to realise? or. maybe if there is an entity at a higher level of being than our present state who wished to contact people in this time/space continuum they would only have the briefest of time in which to do that. Do the math. If one was to speak to each of the 6 billion people on earth within their lifetime, how much time would one have with each of them? 70yrs average lifetime = approximately 613,000 hrs of life or 36 million minutes or some 2 billion seconds. Given the variable between lifetimes it seems safe to say the time one would have would be brief. Given that the being who is reported in NDE's and OBE's often takes the form of Jesus or whoever the major spiritual archetype is of the society/culture it is possible that we all get a visitation. Perhaps yours is yet to come, hope you're awake!

How did I use your typo to mock anything? I am not even sure what typo you are talking about. I can only imagine you meant Hex instead of AM.

As far as an eternal all powerful being, outside of space/time not having the time to do anything..............do I even need to say bullshit?

If we all get a visit.......I don't think atheists would exist. Oh I see, we were asleep when God comes a knocking, huh? Damn, if only God had the power to throw some cold water on a napping mother fucker.

So God only appears to those who already believes in him and is open to the possiblity of a visit? How convienent.

If you were'nt so eager to find something to knock, you would understand that it has nothing at all to do with a being existing outside of time.

Dismissing the other points I made in post, such as explaining your accusations of how I used your typo to mock something, you have not fully explained yourself here. I will take a few guess's as to the reasoning behind your apparent meaning (hint: this kind of shit could be avoided if you spoke in complete thoughts).

God cannot speak to us all in turn? He does not have the power or ability to do that? Is that what you are suggesting?

Even then, it makes it even more important to figure out why the big guy chose to have a face to face meeting with Hex, wouldn't you agree. Even if I were to believe God were unable to speak with all of us, b/c there simply isn't enough time to do so, does not answer the question, why Hex?

Either there is something special (important message, he is a prophet, perhaps a horseman of the apocolypse etc.) OR God just dropped in to say "Hey what's up" and Hex was just right place, right time.

Out of curiosity Redzed, why do you even bother with BP?
Hasn't previous discussions shown you that talking with him gets you nowhere.
Unless you just want to exercise your debating skills...... or tolerance .... or maybe he encourages you to think about your beliefs and understand them further.
I just don't know.

Accept everything that happens, it happens for a reason.

Not true, I'd say a lot more happens out of pure chaos & fun than for anything which could possibly be linked to reason.

Doesn't he just hold mirror up to your beliefs, showcasing them for the truly simple nonsense they are? Doesn't he just poke very obvious holes in the simple logic used to believe in a very comforting warm fuzzy ideology? Doesn't he tell you to go fuck yourself, double quick, the second you behave like any form of a douche?

Fixed.
