Multi-linux DVD.
Is it possible to make a DVD with, say, Ubuntu, Fedora, mandrake, etc etc in one single DVD?
And at the beginning you'd get a choice to choose which to install/start a live session/run?

Re: Multi-linux DVD.
If you used liveCD's, then I think you could. If you did it right, then you could install GRUB to the MBR of the CD, and have it point to other sectors on the DVD.
This would probably be better tested on a DVD-RW.

Re: Multi-linux DVD.
No one knows of anyone who has done this?
I'm a noob when it comes to linux, MBR's, GRUB and all that good stuff so I don't know where to start. And I don't have a DVD-RW drive... so I think I would waste my fair share of DVDs...

Re: Multi-linux DVD.
They wouldn't fit. It would have to be a "multi-linux 5 dvd's" or they would all have to be netinst.

You could put a few liveCD's on one DVD, though.

Re: Multi-linux DVD.
It's possible.
I've read some threads about this over and over a few times.
I never decided to build a multi-distro linux DVD for myself in the end. However, it is possible.
There are some threads on it at linuxquestions.org.
A few people have tackled the fedora core issue, too.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-on-cd-311747/
That's one thread.
You'll have to look for the other.

But the Live CD's weigh like 700 MBs. :S
Ever seen a cutom windows cd where it gives you choices of which Windows to install? I was thinking about something like that.
Kamisama, I'll check it out. Thanks.

Re: Multi-linux DVD.
Found exactly what I was looking for.
Here it is if anyone is curious:

Multi Distro includes nine live CD Linux distributions in one ISO file that you can burn to a single disc. It uses the GRUB boot loader to present the user with a main menu from which they can choose which distro they want to run. By showing you how to make your own live CD composed of multiple live CD distros, Multi Distro packs a big punch.
Version 2.5 of Multi Distro includes Slax, GeexBOX, DamnSmallLinux, INSERT, RIP, Mpentoo, Olive, Grafpup, Limp, and a memory tester.
If you want to remove distros from the Multi Distro package, or add additional software, you can use the Multi Distro mkiso.sh script, which uses mkisofs to create a bootable CD image. Since several of the offerings on Multi Distro 2.5 were of little use to me, I decided to remove them and add something else in their place, then use the mkiso.sh script to remaster a disc

And here is one for DVDs:

Live CDs do a great job of advertising Linux distributions. In addition to general-purpose live CD distributions, there are lots of task-oriented live CDs. Wouldn't it be great if you could carry multiple live CDs on one DVD disc? Nautopia.net has put up a script that you can use to make a custom DVD to boot multiple live CDs.
The Nautopia script currently supports Knoppix, Kanotix, Kurumin, Livux, MEPIS, ProMEPIS, Slax, Aurox, BerryLinux, Basilisk, Adios, PCLinuxOS, MandrakeMove, Gnoppix, RiP, SystemRescueCD, Ultimate Boot CD, and INSERT distributions

Re: Multi-linux DVD.
Speaking of grub... does anyone know how to change the names of initial boot options? longhorn sounds stupid for vista.
