Friend used Live CD of xubuntu, and it couldnt detect his wifi card. Help?

Wifi Card: Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG

So I found out through more googling that they made this separate package that changes the drivers to support this wifi card.

What i dont get is after downloading the package, how do we install it? Are those codes seriously the terminal commands used to install it? They dont look like they would work, a little further guidance on how to install that package on xubuntu?

The ./configure && make && make install parts, and everything around it, that is how you configure and compile a package.
