Default onset of alcoholism

if i was to get tipsy(not drunk, but more than buzzed) everyday for 2 and a half weeks, what would be the risk of becoming an alcoholic with very little family history of alcoholism?

How much do you like getting drunk?

Alcoholism doesn't work quite like how you're thinking.

yea, right now drinking is just a replacement because i cant get any other drugs at the moment (im in a foriegn country, and im also getting clean to pass a drug test) but usually if i drink at all its only on the weekends, and not that often when i have pot. so im not worried about pyschological dependance, but physical.

Alcoholism, if you have it, has been with you since birth. It really just depends on how you act on alcohol...eg. do you out-drink all your friends yet still remain noticeably sober? But, in all honestly, it takes a couple good years and a hell of a lot of booze to get physically addicted to the stuff. Once you start waking up with DT's, you know you're in trouble.

Is that why the only two drugs that you can actually die from during detoxing are Alcohol and Benzos?

again, alcoholism is a psychological addiction to alcohol. alcohol dependence, tolerance, and withdrawl is a whole nother thing.

How could you be physically dependent on alcohol without being an alcoholic? You just couldn't be more wrong.

alcoholism is a psychological addiction. you dont have to have alcoholism to be physically dependent on it.

think about it. there are plenty of people physically dependent on opiates, benzos, and amphetamines, as well as a whole array on non-recreational drugs, such as ssri's. this does not mean that they are psychologically addicted to those drugs. why cant this be true with alcohol? it can be true. for example, my father flat out loves beer. he would rather drink beer than any other beverage that he knows of - and not because of the alcohol, because of the taste. i am sure he is physically dependent on it, tolerant to it, and would get DT's if he stopped drinking, but he is certainly not an alcoholic. he does not have a psychological addiction to alcohol. think about it.

No, it's true. Alcoholism isn't something you can develop, it's just something you either have or don't. Alcoholism is not physical dependence. Alcoholics can't stop drinking once they have started.

I got tipsy to fairly drunk every day, several times a day for 2 1/2-3 months at the beginning of the school year.

Before school after school and a night cap before bed. I don't even like drinking alcohol anymore unless I am with chicks.
