Default Women, talk to me about my girlfriend's views

I've been with my girlfriend for over a year now. She's 16, I'm 17. We've been talking recently about life in general, and she told me how I'm the only person she would ever want to be with. Now that sounds normal seeing as we've been together for over a year, but I dug deeper and tried to find out what she really means. She basically said that if things didn't work out between us, she wouldn't ever want to try it again with somebody else because she'd be too hurt. She seriously said she'd be one of those creepy ladies with a bunch of cats and no family. It's hard for me to grasp a whole family and wonderful life thrown away just due to one event that didn't work out. She really truly believes that you can only fall in love once, and if that doesn't work than there's no hope... whereas I'm the complete opposite way. She's an intensely emotional person; she never hesitates to show it either. With that in mind, ladies, what do you make of this? I hope it's something that she'll grow out of if things don't work out with us, but it's a hard situation... to me, a family gives purpose to life, and if we do break up it means that her whole life won't have purpose. Anyone ever feel the same way as she does?

As genuine as her feelings are, they do amount in emotional blackmail... Anyway I'll let the girls respond, as you know what all us ding-a-ling hangers are going to say.

She probably thinks she feels that way now (And yes, it probably is emotional blackmail of some sort, but she may not be aware of that) but if you did break up I'm sure she would move on. She'd get over you and then get lonely and start chasing other guys, at such a young age, it's what we're wired to do.

She feels that way now, but she doesn't really mean it. She's a 16 year old girl; she's exaggerating.

I wouldn't let it worry you, honestly. It just means that she's very attached to you, but if you broke up she would get over it eventually. Just take it with a grain of salt; she's probably not crazy, just shortsighted.

She'll only think she means it, maybe because she's happiest with you right now
if you did break up it would probably be because of something mutual like growing apart and such
in which case she'd be able to move on quite quickly afterwards

she's a 16 year old, she doesn't have much life experience. she would be over you, tops, in about 2 or 3 years....if she's really that attached. which by the way, probably isn't too healthy.

not a girl btw

This is true, i mean she wouldnt 100% be 'on a new cock', you cant assume all females are like that.. But she will slowly accept things for what they are and start the whole bullshit healing process.

She sounds just as bad as those people who say to their partner "if you leave me i would hurt myself", what shes going to throw away her life and be miserable until the day she passes away just because you are gone? Seriously, nobody is that important...

What faggotry.. She will grow out of it.

16 is a naive age.

Once you guys hit that rocky stage in your relationship (and you will) she'll learn that a person's life can't revolve around another's.

We've hit a couple rocky stages, but they've just seemed to make it worse (or better, i guess) in the end. And yes, I do agree it really isn't healthy. She really needs to find some friends;one bitch turned her last group of "friends" against her, and it's been like that for most of our relationship.

Actually, I kind of think that she means it, that she really honestly thinks that if they break up, she will turn into a lonely cat lady.

The thing is, the reality/future does not always play out the way we think it will. She might feel very intensely about you and your relationship right now to such an extent that she THINKS she will be completely broken if you should break up, truth is humans are adaptable and resilient beings and I am sure in the event of you guys breaking up, she will in time find another sweet heart to fill the void in her life. It might take a bit longer than other girls her age due to her intensely emotional nature, however I am sure it will eventually happen.

And if it doesn't? Don't feel bad about it. You are not obligated to stay in a relationship with someone just because you are worried about them turning into cat ladies.
