"Love Is Love, And That Is That"
[an E-ScoobySnack to anyone who gets that quote btw]
What is it with love that no matter what the person we love does to us...? I know it says in the good book that love forgives all but...DAMN!
I have a friend (and I dont have many). I've written about his marriage before here and recently also about him on Headshrinkers.
The non-TLDR version is this. His wife has an evil streak the size of the Koh-i-noor and about as hard (and I don't use the word 'evil' lightly), She has not only made his life a living hell but ruined him financially, physically and more recently mentally. So bad he went for commital this week.
She has fucked with his head and feelings for years. I'll give you an example: She has falsely accused him of abusing his kids, had restraining orders placed on him, had him imprisoned and then she turns around and tells him she wants another baby from him. That kind of mind fuck.
And despite it all, he still loves and wants her so bad its painful to see.
He knows she is pure arsenic but he still doesn't want to live with out her.
I just don't get it. I could understand him putting a bullet in her..hell I'd help him dump the body (I don't like her, can you tell?). But no, if she called he'd run straight back to her in a heartbeat.
Infact the only reason he's now getting the treatment he so badly needs is so he can try and win her back.
For favourite I'd like to pound his head against the wing of his car until he got some sense but the mental state he's in at the moment he could top me without realising it.
But he ain't the only one. What is it with us that we will forgive the ones we love anything??!
*confused by humanity*

You mean besides maybe arranging for his wife to discover a whole new meaning to the word 'pain'? Which would be favourite.
I do what I can for him, keep him fed, drive him to the doctors and help him to get the treatment he needs etc etc. Now he's finally taking the meds and cutting back on the booze he seems a lot better.

Re: "Love Is Love, And That Is That"
My thoughts:
Maybe he feels that she has become the woman she has become, in part, because of things that he might have done. Therefore, he has hope that he can help her find that girl inside again, because he still loves that girl.
Love always hopes, you know.
I have so many thoughts on this, and I started writing something that was much, much longer. But, I thinkĀ
this may be at the heart of it all. (Many lines. Many thoughts. All wrapped up into these few lines.)

There is undoubtedly a small element of that but its only small. There is something wrong with her and always has been . Seems even before the wedding her brother tried to warn my mate, telling him there was something evil about her (again he used the word 'evil').
Of course my mate was and is about as far as you can get from canonisation. He was and is a extremely violent criminal and alcoholic. (I'm talking real criminal not american style 'gansta'..a 'right villain' in brit english ) But then again she walked into marriage with her eyes open, she chose him and the life.

Re: "Love Is Love, And That Is That"
Love is by far the most fucked-up emotion out there. It's like a methamphetamine high, but better. You feel excillerated in their presence and you're always happy to be around them. It feels great for a while. But when you lose them, you go into withdrawls. After that, when you talk to them it's the same high, only this time it's taunting you. It starts in your stomach and moves up to your head... and it makes you wanna...

As did he? How many people truly walk into a marriage with their eyes wide open?
Something happened along the way to change all that anyway. It sounds like he's trying to meet that with his own change. Maybe while he is going thru his changes, they will meet once again. With eyes opened in a different way.
It could happen. I hope for the best for them, and their kids.
