Has anyone else here had experience with this combination, either recreationally or medically? I'm prescribed 300 mg Wellbutrin daily and 30 mg worth of Adderall IR (2x 15s). I always take my Wellbutrin immediately upon waking, and usually wait about half an hour to an hour before having an Adderall.

Now I'm aware that the Wellbutrin potentiates the Adderall; the thing is, as I take a once daily dosing of the bupropion via XL formulation, it releases throughout the day in spaced intervals. Pharmacologically speaking, considering the differences in XR/SR/XL etc., do you think this 300 mg is delivered in a smooth, once hourly amount (ala Fentanyl patches) or in two 50% shots spaced a set time apart (ala Adderall XR)?

The reason I ask is because throughout the day, I notice what seem like "boosts" to the Adderall's effects; I can take 30 mg IR in the morning, do some things, get past the initial stimulation and into the more mellow, focused part of the dose, and then at times I suddenly feel boosted back up, like I just bumped another 5 or 10 mg. Not "tweaking" style, of course, but just closer to the feeling of the stimulation I get at the beginning of a dose or when using intranasally.

At times this even happens towards the ass-end of the IR duration, like at 4-6 hours or so when it's usually wearing off.

Does anyone think this could be caused by the Wellbutrin XL releasing small amounts of bupropion at different intervals which consequently "pull up" the amphetamine a bit? In a way it makes sense to me, from a medical standpoint, but naturally I still have my doubts.

Probably won't find more than 1 or 2 people in this whole forum who understand any of this well enough to be able to comprehend what I'm explaining and give their $0.02, but hey, it's worth a shot.

It should work, I have never did that but you could give it a try. You wont die or end up in the hospital so I would go for it.
Just use like 1 or 2 Wellbutrin and snort 2 Adderall and see if you like it, then move up from there.

but seriously folks, from what about about what you are asking, and about pills in general, i would say it is most likely spaces out for several doses, since you noticed in the increase in effect several times a day as opposed to two.

although on the wellbutrin website it says "WELLBUTRIN XL, you can take one tablet in the morning, continue with your daily activities, and not worry about remembering to take a second dose" which makes it sort of sound like it is only two doses. but my money is still on more then two from what you described

This thread is more of a pharmacokinetics/chemistry related question than a specific inquiry about stimulants, which just happen to be the drugs involved in the situation.

And Mr. Alex, you're kinda on the same page, but I'm wondering more or less the possible interactions between an amphetamine and a norepinephrine/dopamine reuptake inhibitor, namely an increase in the effects of the amphetamine.

you should try adderall by itself one day and then compare that to the effects you'd receive when combining it with wellbutriin the next. since you can differentiate adderalls high from wellbutrins i'm sure that you can conclude whether it potentiates the adderall or not.

i've always noticed that taking downers along with other downers seems to always potentiate whatever it is that i'm taking. wouldn't that work the same way with uppers? would the wellbutrin help slow down the reuptake of dopamine significantly enough to actually make a difference for the amphetamines to be more effective? sorry sir, i have no clue, but i hope you find the info you're looking for.

So it prevents the reuptake of norepinephrine which is basically adrenaline, and dopamine which is the "feel good" neurotransmitter many "street drugs" operate on. Thus "trapping" them for longer than they would normally persist.

I take Wellbutrin XL(Well the teva generic). It comes in tablet form, which means it has no mechanism for a "controlled release" of bupropion. Therefore it probably just delivers a steady dose over the course of the day. When I say steady, thats the average....there's gonna be peaks and valleys in the release of the buproprion from various factors like metabolism ect.

Are you taking the brand or a generic? Is it in tablet form or a capsule?

Also try taking it in combination with a preloaded dose of 5-htp, or various other drugs. Just be VERY careful and always titrate your doses up from a small amount.
