Those of you who have tried shrooms
Do you regret trying them? I tried them a couple months ago and I'm a completely different person. I have absolutely no direction. I just understand the world better, and lost belief in any 'extraordinary beings'. I developed a mindset that isn't understandable to those who haven't done them before.
This refers to the people who went on a spiritual journey, not those who just hallucinated.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
I had the same experience on acid..
I havent taken enough shrooms for that effect, or at least tried to..
On acid I realized that everything we did in school is just to filter smarter people out and feed bullshit to the dumb ones..
And if you are lucky enough to go to college they teach you real stuff, and that in order to make it in the world you have to have will power thats built up by doing stupid , boring tasks but in the end that will power is used for something good and difficult rather than doing the dishes or mowing the lawn..
Also my friend told me this, that our friends mom told us..
You know when your parents are just telling you old stuff youve heard 100 times and just small talk.. Well have you ever been with a chick where conversation sucks and you just say stuff to try to get it going, well thats what your parents are doing to you just trying to communicate with you, but they dont know how.. Makes you feel like a asshole, especially on acid.
not really a different person, but I put forth more effort in normal shit now

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
Naw on shrooms I had alot of fun. The first time I took a strong LSD dose the next few days I was planning on killing myself for no reason. After a few days I felt normal and I dont usally have suicide thoughts.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
I've done shrooms too many times to count and I don't regret a single experience. I've had as many bad trips as good ones. I do them for the change in who you are and that's what makes psychedelics so great. They aren't to be used to catch a buzz, you're going to be changed and should use that to your advantage.

Shrooms taught me that it's completely up to me whether I regret something or embrace it. You create your own reality. I don't regret taking them.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
I think everyone who is mentally stable enough should try shrooms or acid at least once in their life - preferably early in their adulthood. Because it does dramatically change the way you think and see things etc....

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
After taking a large amount of shrooms and entertaining myself with pictures of galaxies and other celestial bodies for hours, I found myself much more appreciative of my pathetic little existence on Earth.
However I also took away a contrasting feeling of meaninglessness. It took me some time to come to terms with both these things, but I don't regret it one bit.

Dude. I feel you 100%. I can't take the world seriously anymore, knowing how unimportant humans really are.
The best way i've found for me to stay on track is to pretend i'm playing a game and i vie for the approval of people by trying to succeed at the game.
Yes, I'm a bit psycho.

There is no spiritual journey, simply introspection. Possibly realizing all the lies you were told were really lies. It's hard to believe when you're brainwashed your entire life. No god, no meaning, just existence.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
Shrooms make me see my self for who I am. It's depressing. I just think about how much I hate 9-5 jobs, with 1 hour of commuting both ways, just working to live. Then I get depressed and think that I should just commit suicide to stop the pointlessness of life.
I get into this cycle mindset. Where I'll just end up at the same place which is "Why live a pointless life?"
Oh, but this is when I take 10+ grams.
I want to study, but realize everything I study I'd get sick of in a couple of years.
I just look at the world, and what it's become, and it disgusts me. The ease and convenience of everything we do. I just think how smart the people who live a life of simplicity are. Monks. Priests.
I realize how much I have to force interacting with people, that I some how fluke my success with girls and I'm actually clueless. That the tediousness of it all would be so much easier to avoid. Ejaculation = ejaculation. I'd be happy jacking off for a very long time.
That's what I think of when I do a lot of mushrooms. Everything ends with "Go on a crime spree, then kill your self".
But I continue to do them in the hopes of getting a clue with what to do with my life.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
I have what everyones talking about but theres always weight on my shoulders as if its the burden of having this knowledge. The insignificant aspect towards everything lets me drift around life with no worries. I could pull off being a bum with joy. I have no problem with that. It seems life went from ground view to seeing everything over an aerial grid. It made everything seem alot less real.
God i love shrooms

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
It looks like most of us get the same feelings when tripping.
My first few times I had that same suicidal feeling, not because "oh noes lifez not worht living!!!" but just because I no longer saw a point. Not that I ever really have seen a point, but tripping brought it out a lot clearer. Made me seem REALLY insignificant... I lost a lot of motivation, but I still maintained my grades and everything.
My priorities REALLY changed since I tripped for sure. I like drugs a lot more than I did before I tripped.
But, also, I exercise a LOT more since I started tripping. I typically work out about 5 days a week with weights. I play tennis a few days a week, and box a few days a week.
My best explanation for doing this is that the realization of my own insignificance. I also no longer go on the computer as much, and at first I smoked a lot more bud, but now I've slowed that down in favor of exercising.
Also, at first I lost all of my aggressiveness with women, and now I'm gaining it back again.
Honestly, the trip I had 2 nights ago off of 1g changed my perspective more than any other trip.

Me working out isn't for health reasons.
It seems to give me more to do during the day.
Like I said, I was smoking a LOT of pot, now instead of smoking all day I go out and do shit most of the day.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
Shrooms, no
but one night when i though i only ate 3 hits, but it ended up being 6, fucking crazy shit. I now look at things completly differntly, i cant even remeber how i though before. some things are very very strange to me now, like cars, and roads. I think that LSD is not at all spritual and its just some fun shit to do now and again. and i totally agree with meta, everyone who feels thatthey can should at some point in their life eat some acid or some shrooms

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
It's hard to make sense of what you experience from shrooms. It opens a whole new realm of possibilities of what reality is. You are missing the point if you think the world is mundane and unimportant after taking shrooms. New perceptions of beauty, love, and things that bring happiness are a small perceptual shift in consciousness away.
The reality you've been conditioned to see begins to fall away bit by bit. But those things aren't what life is all about, so it is your task from that point to be open to new ways to replace the old ways of perception. This doesn't even take effort either, just a calm and aware mind that can see the importance of things without abstraction.
Shrooms simply attacks the flimsy false thoughts we have of things and forces us to be genuine. I don't think there should be anything more to it than that when trying to make sense of spirituality. Simply, live as a more genuine person.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
amazing that so many people have depressing trips so often. probvably the wrong set and setting and state of mind. could be a good indication that you have some mental health issues.
use them incorrectly or too randomly and thats what youll get, depressing trips. i dont think im capable of having a bad trip anymore. theyll always be exhausting physically but i dont think itll ever be depressing for me again.*/+
ill never regret using them but sometimes it seems that im too old and lazy to use them anymore cause the ones that grow near me, take a lot out of me physically and i dont really care to get any others any time soon. lots of people say that the species and strain can determine some of the efffects of the trip, so maybe some of you people who have such depressing tirps so frequently should uise a different kind.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
I've done shrooms around 15 times and I really think they changed me for the better. In grade 10 I was lost, I did drugs everyday and didn't care that I was failing school and life. I did 5 grams of shrooms one day thinking I'd just see some colours and it was the most depressing day of my life. I remembered all the things I wanted to do in childhood. I remembered my love of science and how I always wanted to go to univeristy etc etc. After that day I was changed for sure. I realized that I could reach my goals if I wanted to and I did. Now I'm in univeristy and even though I still use drugs I don't abuse them liek I did before. I have respect now for my body and for the drugs themselves. I know this doesn't happen to everyone but I really feel like they put me on the right path. I only regreted it when I was on them but if I could go back I'd do it again.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
I've done them a handful of times, and although I feel like I'm having the most profound experience of my life every time I do them, I couldn't really say that they have had any substantial impact in my life.
I dunno though, maybe its just because when I do them its generally for a novel experience rather than self-exploration or anything of that sort.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
This refers to the people who went on a spiritual journey, not those who just hallucinated.
Pfft, pretentious wank....
I haven't been on a "spiritual journey" on shrooms, I don't think - i've seen Indian goddesses beckoning me and turning into foetuses and the circle of life being broken open and forced through my eyes and brain, and snapped my eyes open to see hundreds of colours moving and turning, the trees alive, and the energy of life just.... spilling out.
But.... do I think what i've done n seen n felt on shrooms is "spiritual"? Well, not really. Maybe in some ways - of course, it's very personal and highly significant. Shrooms really tug at the emotions and the heart strings, but I don't feel like i'm any better than people who dont do shrooms, or haven't felt such things. I don't feel like much has been revealed - i've seen a perspective, a method, a "WOWWWW THIS IS SO NEW AND OMGGG" method. A new way to say hooray, truly. End of the day..... i really don't fucking know. I have NO regrets about doing shrooms, including at high doses, however scary, confusing, painful and confronting things have felt, during trips. The positives do outweigh it all, and I feel very strong and upbeat as a person, generally, not linked to any groups or set ways of thinking, but capable of thinking, feeling and fucking flowing. To me, that's a weight off the shoulders.
Why do you feel there's nothing in your life? If shrooms are making you lazy and depressed and apathetic, that's worrying. Go somewhere beautiful and see what is, and what could be, and blahdy blah, who cares if you have to get some crappy job to get worthy places afterwards - in your head, you're laughing all the way to the bank, and eventually you can truly pursue your dreams.

Re: Those of you who have tried shrooms
Planted in the ground as the grass the trees as am I. I am breathing as is the Earth as is the planet as is the galaxy. This beautiful instrument of countless vibrations creating harmonious waves in the underlying quintessence that is betwixt all things, this motion creates more motion as that motion contributes to the others motion. As the drop of water enters the bucket and another drop falls out of the bucket, it is not the in falling drop that caused the out falling drop. But rather the in falling drop contributed to the motion that was already vibrating inside of the bucked, and that is what caused the outfalling drop. These things aren't really things, they are all interconnected in One all pervasive thing. One thing that all things are vibrating in, causing cycles within each other. This one thing is what I truly AM.
My brain, my thoughts, my feelings, my observations, I am those things, but when intwined in those things the essence which lies behind which is what I AM cannot be bonded with. But what if I stop perpetuating this eternal wheel? Stop adding motion and just let it run out? Will I then see the true essence of Reality? Is it even possible to see this essence in naked union? Surely if it could be done, such a thing would never be told to another.
Death. I am ready to die. Stop my breathing as this life force leaves my physical form and returns to the vast seemingly endless ætheric ocean. But no, this is not death, this is life. My childhood will end and I will transcend that which I was/am and ascend to the next layer.
NO. . . I may be ready, but this world is not. Much remains to be done before I can leave my brothers behind. They will continue to destroy my leafy friends, and those with four legs. I cannot abandon my family just yet, awareness must be spread and hearts must open. Oneness must be known, not just in the soul, but in our physical minds as well.
But what is one man to do? Never would I force such a thing. But what I can do is condition myself and the vibrations I contribute to the system in a more harmonious and loving resonance. They will interact with all vibratory cycles I touch. And that interaction will now be within their signature as they interact with other signatures. In this way, I can help the planetary organism evolve into a wiser path of thinking and doing.

Oh, I don't regret it in the least... someone down below in this thread said something along the lines of "think like a kid again," but honestly, I usually go to where it's more like floating in utero, no contact with the corrupting assumptions of this world ever, yet with all the knowledge I have. I have returned to the purest me... 'n since my life is not 100% unlike a "lifetime movie boxed set" of the worst and most horror-sociopoltiically-manipulative sort, probably like most people, I really think that's a good thing. Not that it wouldn't have been a pretty chill thing anyway.
My last several trips have, ironically and paradoxically, centered around using brainwashing to create the real - a little art of trancendental beauty, a little yoga, some instrumental music, and good nutrition until one of the norms suddenly says "hey - what if we did it all differently from the very get-go?" one day... but I think I'm going to meditate a bit more on the fundamentals of human boundaries and human needs for a bit, first - I've just gotten plumb lucky in dealing with people in this life through not being particularly evil by nature outside of necessity, and that a hard-learned survival skill, but don't really have any sort of trancendental knowledge of this particular way in which we're really all the same... all I've learned is the ghandian skill that I myself don't really need boundaries, because shit that's not physical can't really hurt me unless I give it space in my head in my own act, and that maybe demonstrating this by humbly living by one's revelations rather than preaching them and loving unconditionally, really unconditionally, all life might just make some shady-hearted motherfucker - say, an agent of the government - say "well, gee... now that he's not trying to force this shit down my throat, maybe I am being a bit mean-spirited compared to how he's acting right now."
'n that's not the same as figuring out basic human psychological integrity needs and promoting by humble, silent action a world which brings peace by respecting them. Instead, it's the 'shotgun flyswatter' method of self-human-sacrifice through trancendence of the whole damned social game, 'n not only is it (probably) harder to pull off (though I can usually remember it if I remember to stop and think), but "one dude glowing blissfully in the middle of a jungle" draws a whole lot more attention than just an invisible sea change of human welfare, security, and happiness.
...'n I don't wanna be a messianic celebrity. I get that shit enough IRL, just because of the nature I started out with. It's flattering and all, but it also distracts from the real work...
...of course, there's an easy way. I just think the right way is really freakin' beautiful, too.

....
...of course, there's an easy way. I just think the right way is really freakin' beautiful, too.
If I understand you correctly, you were talking about boundaries? When I was trippin I was always thinking about boundaries. I thought about how I seldom if ever just go and take a walk in the woods or further. I felt that I'm stuck in the town that I live in, which isn't developing at all.
My trip made me content with my past, especially things I once regretted with an ex. I realized that you can control your emotions, and can control if something bothers you or not. I had an 'out of body' experience where I was outside of my room (I really was) but I could look into the windows and see what I'd be doing if I weren't tripping right now. I would be living a life that my parents have no idea about.
It also had me come to realization as to why the relationship I had at the time wasn't working as well as it should have, but we'll get into that another time.
