Don't know about benzos etc. but I've heard rumor that you can get hydrocodone OTC there. Don't quote me on it, though.

From Erowid:

"Italy #
Although one contributor told us hydrocodone is available over-the-counter, this may be incorrect. We have also been told that it is available only behind the counter, where a pharmacist can choose whether or not to dispense it if there is no prescription. (unconfirmed)"

My guess is thats its not literately over the counter, but they just allow you to skip a step and get pain killers directly if you have an obvious injury. Like say you burnt your hand pretty bad, but not bad enough that you have to go to a doctors you can just show the pharmacist and get some pain meds.

Codeine? I dunno about benzos, i bet in Naples they'd sell you fucking anything. That place is hardcore....

God, if you're on holiday though, you shouldn't need anti-anxiety drugs as regular meds..... meh. They have nice hash and coke, pills etc in Italy if you're interested in omgillegalz too...
