Shroom hunting in Central Florida
I'm new to shrooms and haven't hunted or tried them yet. I live in Central Florida and was wondering if anyone happened to live in the area that is familiar with local species, etc. Please PM me for more info.

Re: Shroom hunting in Central Florida
Your going to want to go to http://www.shroomery.org
I'm to lazy to bring you to the exact page, but it has a page on their that tells you which mushrooms grow in which areas. I used this website and sucessfully picked mushrooms not to far from orlando.
Your definitely in a good area for picking wild shrooms. Read as much information as possible before you go out and hunt them though. The last thing in the world you want is to pick the wrong mushrooms.
A spore print is the best, and only way to identify a mushroom, and know for 100% sure what it is. I didn't do a spore print, and got lucky. You might not be so lucky.
The mushrooms I got were kind of a cross between orange and brown, with the middle of the cap being the darkest. The gills under the cap where dark grey, and the stems where white. The biggest caps were about the size of a compact disk, and the stems bruised dark blue.
Again, your going to want to do a spore print. Eating poisenous mushrooms will make you very very sick, and you will hate yourself for it.

Re: Shroom hunting in Central Florida
I believe that Psilocybe Cubensis grows wild in FL, so you should learn to ID Cubes. Shroomery will be able to tell you what grows near you and how to ID them. Make sure you learn to ID look-alikes, too. I don't know how many look-alikes Cubes have, but I know that some mushrooms will kill you and others will make you wish you were dead.
