What's 'yeast compound' for 'wine must'? (Brewing troubles)
I bought some cider and it was one of the Scrumpy ones that comes in a demijohn. So I thought I might as well get an airlock and make some homebrew.
I bought some 'Wine yeast compound' which says on the container 'just add to wine must'. I thought it was a bit iffy but there was nothing else there. Anyway, I've made a homebrew mixture - it's as follows
- 1.5L Powerade Aqua, lime flavoured
- The recommended amount of this yeast
- About a cup full of sugar
So I've put the mixture in the demijohn, Put the airlock in (I had to balance it on top and seal with tape because it was too big for the bottle) and left it for a few hours, but I haven't seen so much as a bubble come through the airlock. What's going on?
