Internet Slow as fuck on Ubuntu

I just installed Ubuntu and connected to my wireless network and it said some shit about restricted driver.

Anyway the internets working but its slow as fuck loading webpages. Only opening a page for the first time though. For example I open firefox and I type in google.com. It takes about 2 minutes for google to load but when I click a link or the search button in google it loads instantly. Then if I type in totse.com it takes ages to load but once im in totse all the links load instantly.

So the problems connecting to the webpages in the first place not the internet connection.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Check into your drivers first. System>Administration>Restricted Drivers. Enable any you need to.

Although I haven't had this problem (so I'm just regurgitating what I remember), look into IPv4 and IPv6 problems. I briefly skimmed through an article about problems associated with IPv6.

That doesn't sound like it's a problem with Ubuntu -- if it was, it would be more consistent.

Does the problem exist in other browsers or other applications?

What does firefox say in the lower left during the hang?

If its "look up <site>", that means its a DNS hang, and you should point your computer to a better DNS server. A good one is 4.2.2.1. You can add it by going to System>Administration>Networking, then the DNS tab (unlock the app before the next step), then adding that IP.
