I have been getting Ms Contins XR in the past and I would take about 75-90mg. If my memory serves me right I remember reading that the morphine molecule is entrapped in a wax molecule to prevent abuse. I would chew them up regardless, if my memory serves me right this would not effect the XR since it is entrapped in the wax right?

My question is how do I gage taking these to IR how much is 30mg XR supposed to release per hour or at a time? Thanks for any help I appreciate it.

It does not prevent abuse but only makes less attractive to addicts. i still abused ms contin and got high from just poping the pills whole. It only allows a certain amount per hour to bbe absorbed. But After about 3 hours I would be nice and high.

Yeah that's what I meant because I was abusing them aswell ;). So I guess if I was taking 90mgs, about 45 should get me high if you are right about the 10mgs. It just won't last as long . Gonna do some more searching and see if I can't find the exact amount it releases. Thanks for your post.

IR will only last like 4-6 hours. When i dosed morphine xr for the first time I only needed 30mgs with 0 tolerance to get a buzz. So be careful with that. What kind of tolerance do you have? Also the bioavailibility is pretty low it is something like 10-30% is actually absorbed. You don't actually end up with the full 45 mgs in your blood. There is something callled first pass metabolism with morpehine sulfate where something like 60-90% is destroyed by yoour liver in the first pass.(before it even can get to your brain) Now that doesn't mean you should take more , i am simply informing you that though those doses sound high alot of it is just destroyed by the liver in the first pass.
