You should have done your best to taper.. When you were down to your last few pills, you should have cut them into halfs.. Then when ur down to ur last few halfs, cut them into quarters - it's called tapering.. What were you on for a daily dosage anyways??

If you can find suboxone, that'll definitely help.. And if you can't find any type of opiate-replacement - then benzos will help.. Something like xanax, klonopin, valium, etc.. Other than that, you're pretty much screwed.. There's really no other non-opiate substances that will satisfy WD symptoms.. Good luck

Are you kidding me, Vitamin C?come on now. I can tell you from experience that vitamin C doesn't do anything for withdrawal.

To the Op, get some beer and some weed. Benzos or soma if you can. Try to eat if you can because that is the only way you can start rebuilding your endigenous endorphin system. Take a multivitamin everyday as that will provide you with what you need to rebuild your endorphin system also. try to stay away from beef and red meat because that has the wrong protein in it and it will cause inflamation which basically means your legs will kick and hurt more. and if you are 2 days in you may aswell just quit the methadone unless you want to have to go through this again. it is going to take much longer than H or other opiates to feel normal again but you may as well just quit.

Stay away from stimulants including caffiene. Try to cut back your sugar intake. no soda. drink lots of water. Take imodium(poor mans methadone) for the shits. Get an otc sleep aid. You probably will have a lot of trouble sleeping at first but I always took unisom before bed and after the first 2 days it started to work really well for sleep.. If you have somehting like seroquel you could use that to knock yourself out.

hot baths helped me ALOT for the back pain, leg pains, and chills. If you have a hot tub make use of that for the pains.

Tylenol or ibuprofen held also. Or an anti inflammatory of your choice. Stay away from opiates and opiods because you will just have to restart withdrawal when they run out/wear off.

Find weak Opiates like Codeine, Vicodon, or some shit like that - and use Diphenhydramine [Benadryl] or some shit like that [you know, Tylenol PM] and combine then in low doses to counterbalance the shit. Dramamine may help for nausea.

I also find Alcohol a big help when I withdrew from Methadones, I'd just take a few shots everytime I started to feel a little to sick. Eventually, it'll all just wear off - and knowing most people who do 'Dones, they end up just doing them again anyway. It's just a waiting game, usually, until you can re-up on the shit.

Godspeed.

the diphen would help with the nausea it self.

True! Nausea is what kills me on Opiate withdrawls, so mind as well do as much as possible to counter balance it all.

nuggs, you fuckin idiot...you just get out of the hospital, and youre back right on the wagon again. what the fuck is the matter with you?
you want a reply to your question? dont use your methadone to get high stupid, use it to taper off. you must have already ran through the other dozen stamps you had stashed.

I seriously cant believe this is the first post Ive seen from you since youve been out. All that talk of getting clean, 1st you end up in the hospital, in a coma, and now this...why man? I loved you like a brother...it isnt like nobody gives a shit about you...you have tons of people trying to help you, and youre going to spit in their faces. If i were a lesser man, id tell your uncle about this thread...youre lucky im no snitch. you had better hope i dont bump into your dumbass though...you ought to be ashamed of yourself man...you should try and clean your act up just to prove that you can. I cant believe I even cared enough to worry about you. I should have known better.

What they both said.

For me, I never really had stomach problems with W/D. For me the worst part was the uncomfort feeling; the feeling like you can't stand to be in your own skin.

But no matter what part is the worst for you, the best thing you can try to do is to sleep through as much as you can. Somas help a lot for that.

telling someone they're stupid, weak, and dissapointing everyone who loves them is a great way to make your friend relapse.

~thread about you~aparently you have never had any experience with opiate/opioid addiction. It is VERY hard to just taper off when you have a drug that can still get you high. whenever I tried to just take enough to keep me out of withdrawal i would just end up taking more to get high. Even when you almost die the adiction to opiates can be so strong that you will be doing it again the next day. Relapse is very common with opiate/oids because the addiction is so strong. you need to do a little research about opiate addiction and how you can offer support to an addict because it IS NOT EASY TO STAY OFF THAT SHIT. What you said will not help your friend. If you cant understand that it is hard to get off that shit then don't be his friend. What you are doing does not help at all and it only makes a person feel more down want to do more drugs. if you cant offer the right kind of support then don't talk to him.

You are only going to make it harder for him. Getting all mad and heated about the whole situation is only going to cause another relapse. Like I said you need to be understanding and supoortive about it or just let him go because it is only going to cause further relapse.

I have plenty of experience, and i know how difficult addiction is to deal with.
he JUST got out of the hospital, i see this thread, and im pissed. i know this guy in real life, hes one of my only friends, and he smart enough to do this the right way.
hes a very smart kid, and hes just being weak. hes going to wind up losing everything...this is his "rock bottom", and he is being given an opportunity to get his shit together. I know him well enough to know that if he finds something else to taper down with, hes going to just start blindly using again, and i care too much to let that happen...

Its good that you care about him but it seems like you don't understand how hard it can be to break an addiction to heroin and other opiate.opioids. Start going to na meetings with him or some kind of support group. Educate his family on how support can help him. Give him an ultimatum and have his family do the same. Have his family lock up their prescriptions. do not feel like you are snitching him out you are only trying to help him. You NEED TO INFORM HIS FAMILY. If he does not stop he is going to end up dead.Don't get him drugs of anykind except weed. Dont give him rides for drugs. dont loan him money. don't yell at him about it only give him positive support or it will just lead to more relapses. Inpatient rahab may be the only way to save your friends life.
I will tell you from personal experience that tapering does not work for most addicts. Only addicts that have very strong self discipline can taper.

has he ever thought about buprenorphine? It can be prescribed for cravings also. Maybe after the withdrawal period from all of the opiates and opioids he is taking he could go to a buprenorphine doctor for cravings.

id be willing to do all of that with him, but he dosent care. I do understand how hard it is to kick an opiate addiction, being an addict myself...however, i was able to kick, with no help from my family, like he has. I know youre all right...i should be trying to give him positive support, but put yourself in my shoes...this is the first contact ive had with him since he was released from the hospital, and i see this thread, of him going through wd already, and im a bit pissed...thanks for not being assholes to me..im just heated, im trying to calm down...i just know that hes lying to me right now...its not an assumption. we went in his room, found his stash of H, and now hes saying it wasnt there, when i saw it with my own eyes. and furthermore, he still hasnt logged onto messenger to discuss this with me 1 on 1..im pretty sure that you all would feel the same way, if in the same situation.

i understand how you feel man. He may be ashamed and scared to admit it to you. I have been there with my friends also and it is very hard to admit I fucked up again. Don't let it get to you too much and go and relapse or do something stupid yourself. You can only help him so much before you have to cut your loses and get on with your life. Apparently he does not understand the pain he is putting everyone through by continuing his abuse of opiate/oids. You can only put up with so much before you just have to give up on it.

That attitude sounds much better to me than earlier in the thread. I am glad that you are atleast learning from his mistakes. The sad thing is that he cannot learn from his own mistake(the overdose). atleast it put things into proper perspective for you. You sound like a good friend to have.

Well just a lil update: I ended up just dealing with my withdrawl the best i could, and stayed completly and fully off the ops. No methadone no dope no nothin aint even smoking cigs, just the bud but to be honest the weed is more for medicinal for eating since i got off my feed tube the process of eating became quiet a chore and having to deal with the upset stomach and inability or even want to eat the weed def helped. Yea im back at my house, but go-go i am clean man i aint even been to the spots at all. And its fucked up cause i knew as soon as i got my car legal i was gonna go and i havent so i think im doin pretty fucking good. Just chillin takin it easy recoperating. I think really going through that last withdrawl really showed me how much iits not worth it cause that shit was bad. I dont ever wanna do it again its like salvia when we talked bout that ill just sit back n watch people do it cause fuck that shit. The methadone program i got accepted to was just another way to be fucked up all day and i dont need that cause what if i cant get to the hood to get it or i get it and nod out at the wheel and what if i wanna stop that am i supposed to feel like i did for another week fuck that shit man. I feel you tho go-go i know i fucked up yea it was stupid but i make mistakes regreatable ones and i am man enough to see that and step away.
