TLDR: Had sex with best friend, is now weird between us.

I’ve known this girl for nine years, she is my best friend. I knew her before high school; we know everything about each other. I have always found her attractive, and there has always being some repressed sexuality between us.

I hadn’t seen her for a few months, and she recently had her 18th birthday. After a few drinks and a moment alone she says ‘Kiss me’ at first I laughed, but then she pulled me close. I said no, because I didn’t want to make things strange between us. She understood, although she kept whispering it into my ear throughout the night.

But regrettably, on the cab ride home she tried once again (this time with her ex in the front seat, ugh) and once we got home I threw away all my inhibitions and good judgement and we slept together.

The sex itself wasn’t strange, it felt quite natural and at the time I thought it was lots of fun. Unfortunately now I’m in an awkward position as much as I’m trying to condition myself mentally to think nothing has changed.

I now feel uncomfortably opening up about other girls to her, which was perfectly normal before. I used to call her several times a week without a second thought, but now the silly mind games are starting to bleed over like… ‘I called her Tuesday she has to make the next move’

This might seem strange but we used to say I love you to each other, because we were incredibly close and I truly meant it. But since that night I kind of cringe when she says it, no matter how harmless she means.

I’m really confused right now, since I thought we were mature enough and knew each other well enough not to have this get in the way. I think I may have developed some feelings deeper then friendship with her but realistically it wouldn’t work.

What do I do? Is this my problem that I have to solve or should I bring it up with her? Need help before I ruin everything ><

Talk to her, chances are you're blowing this way out of proportion. At one point or another, you will end up sleeping with your female friends if alcohol is involved, you just have to make the decision to deal with it maturely and continue the friendship. Everyone has lonely nights sometimes, at least it was a close friend that she fucked instead of some pissed stranger, right?

You can either go with Siatek's optimism, or the pessimistic (and probably more likely) possibility that unless you can both completely put this behind you and forget about it and come to terms with this, it's fucked.
