I used to love working at the Dollar Tree, I liked my co-workers and everything was good from like november-march. Then I guess a few "mistakes" were made, ok so let's get into them.

I was cool with my general manager(female) and I guess one day she decided to text me(I didnt give her my number), whatever I thought. So 1 day I get a text from her, it's 1 of those chain texts, saying "what do you think of me, reply and forward to 10 people to see what everyone thinks of you!!!".

So stupid me responds "sexy"..It was a joke, im absoultely NOT attracted to her in anyway..Well I guess she kinda took it the wrong way because a few days later after work we were kinda talkin and once we stepped outside the front doors she says "now that we are outside, I like you too"..I just kinda froze and just walked away to my car.
So there was a carnival next door 1 day and I told her we should go with my son(kind of a friendly thing) and after the plans fell through, my hours went out the window


I noticed my hours were being reduced after the day of the Carninal I never talked to her, now keep in mind she has a girlfriend, who she has been with for 10 years(I guess shes bi because she has a son)..I never fully expected her to take me serious. At 1 point she even referred to me as being "confusing"..I never wanted to tell her I wasnt interested because I didnt wanna lose hours and I just wished it would ALL blow over. She has had 1 complaint of sexual harrassment just recently like 2 months ago and EVERY employee had to go through an interview with the regional manager, even if you didnt work there at the time, which I didnt.

So the other day I questioned her about hours and she just made up these bullshit excuses bringing up that I called off on truck day 3 months ago, and 1 day last week i couldnt make it in because a babysitter bailed on me last minute to watch my son. So just 2 weeks ago a guy quit and she promised me more hours, now it is a different story


She is giving 2 girls with less senioraty more hours than me, I am getting a whopping 8 hours a week..Just today I was fed up because there was 2 employees(me included) and 1 manager, well the plan was for me to leave early if it wasnt busy..keep in mind the girl who was guaranteed her shift already has more hours than me and was hired after me.

Just before a guy quit I was looking at my schedule and she saw me and shes like "I will call you if I need you", I had 4 hours that whole week, never called..after he quit I was promised more hours, never happened. She even hired a new truck guy. I used to be on truck but not anymore. My assistant manager who is awesome and 1 of the reasons why I am still there..

completely agrees with me that she is playing favorites and when I asked her "Do you think its because I wasnt interested" says "yes I do, she plays favorites and i agree with you"

I used to love being there but now I don't..I wanna quit so bad but I can't. I asked her

for more hours via text messages(i saved them) and when she said "im not your friend im your boss" I responded "well you wanted to hang out with me" and she said "look if everything goes smooth you will be the first to get more hours"..this was before I was sent home today.

Im just tired of it, I really wana be there because I get along great with my co-workers but I dont know if I can do it anymore..what can i do???

Does your company have rules and regulations about relationships between staff?

If so, fuck her, get evidence of said fucking, then use it to your advantage. Blackmail the bitch. Hold her job at ransom at the price of more hours for your self.

Does said rules not exist in your company? Start looking elsewhere for work. If your co-workers and your self got along so well, you'll become mates out of work.

Yes, thats why she said "if everything goes smooth, you will be the first to get hours"...the way I took it was "if you dont say shit, you will get more hours"

Definitely take this to whoever she sucks up to, the regional manager it sounds like. Make it clear if action isn't taken, such as at least her being transferred to a different Money Tree(there are shit loads of those things), you are going to file complaints with whatever state or federal agency would handle workplace discrimination.

Do you still have the messages saved? Then you've got a case. Claim sexual harassment.

You should probably work more than 4-8 hours a week, to begin with...

make a claim against her... you will win for two reasons. 1: she had a previous incident 2: you have the AM's support.

maybe get a lawyer and see who you can sue. sue dollar store inc. for keeping a employee in an authority position with a history of sexual abuse.
