Visiting Ex in jail?
So I was with my ex boyfriend for like 3 years or so, and needless to say, it was the most horrible 3 years of my life.
He beat the shit out of me, sold my car to a crack dealer, wahwahwah.
Whatever, I'm well aware it was my own fault for staying for 3 years. I don't even care anymore, I'm not hurt anymore, I really have honestly moved on.
Well, I get a call from him a little while back after I hadn't talked to him in almost 9 months and well, apparantly he's back in jail. No one is surprised, I mean he's been in and out since he was like 16. Anyway, I'm going to go visit him tonight. There are a lot of things I want to know and a lot of questions that, until now, have been unanswered that I literally DEMAND to be answered.
Anyone else deal with a situation similair? Thoughts?
Oh, and I talked to my current boyfriend about this, and he finds no problem with it. I've never given him a reason to not trust me and he believes me when I say I just want to go talk to him to get some answers that I feel are long overdue.
He's got about 4 more years to go, so it isn't like I'm going to see him outside of a glass sheild for quite some time.

Re: Visiting Ex in jail?
Hey, I don´t really have any experience with this kind of thing, but don´t go in there expecting too much. If he´s an abusive cracksmoking jailbird, then he probably doesn´t really care that much about what you think.
Although, he is the one who called you, so maybe he´s willing to try and share - don´t let him con you with his sweet talk though either.
If it´s not too personal, what kind of things do you want answers to?

In all seriousness, did you really need to post this on Totse for an answer?
If you want to see him, then go see him. But don't expect him to apologize or even answer your questions.
If you don't, then leave him to his misery.

I'm not really expecting anything, at all. I just want to know what the fuck he was thinking at the time and why he thought his behaviour was acceptable. I understand his views were pretty skewed growing up, he grew up in Bosnia with a strict Muslim childhood, but he was exposed to societal expectations that I was used to and he was aware the standards that I held for myself, but I guess my standards were so low because I was doing a lot of horrible drugs and shit.
I don't really even know WHY I'm going, I just feel like I kind've have to, ya know?
Oh, and he can't sweet talk me, he's not that smart.

Because people don't post rediculous things on Totse all the time, or anything.
Like I said, I'm not even going into this expecting that much.

I know that there are alot of ridiculous posts on totse, but you should have asked yourself and known whats best for yourself.
Nobody on here can give you a better answer than the one you can provide, cause you know him better than any of us.

True, you actually make a valid point. I guess I was just looking for some perspective, because I figured at least someone has been in a situation like this before and could offer some insight.

Heh, sorry, I don´t mean to insult you - that´s just a pretty silly comeback you had there Saline Colors.
why´d you start going out with him in the first place?
When did things go sour?

Re: Visiting Ex in jail?
He's just going to apologize a lot, beg you to come back, make you feel like shit again and when he gets out of prison he'll be a "changed man" and you are going to get back together.
If your really over it you wouldn't bother.

Re: Visiting Ex in jail?
The only sort of satisfaction you're going to get from visiting him is laughing at him from the other side of the glass.
I highly recommend this course of action.
In seriousness though, and please don't take offense, but this sounds like a really bad idea. You'd be better off forgetting all about him.
