Medicinal Vyvanse Questions
Does anyone here take Vyvanse for legitimate medical reasons who has been on Adderall in the past-- specifically twice-daily doses of Adderall IR? I've read a lot about Vyvanse, and while my current dose of Adderall (15 mg IR twice a day) does seem to help, I'm intrigued by Vyvanse's clinical pharmacology profile.
As a lot of you probably know, it's lisdexamphetamine, which is metabolized inside the body to plain-old dextroamphetamine ala Dexedrine/Dextrostat etc. Is this a 1:1 ratio of conversion? Vyvanse goes up to 70 mg, and if that 70 mg of lisdexamphetamine is truly fully converted to 70 mg of dex...well that's a lot of dex, even for a 12 hour period.
I know there's definitely no generics but does anyone know how much it tends to run them once insurance takes a stab at it? I know not all insurance will help with it, but I have great medical insurance and am fairly confident they would at least lend a bit of a hand, even if not much.
I mean, does it seem to work well? I'm happy with Adderall at the moment, but depending on what I can find out, I might look into Vyvanse considering its duration of action/ease of use and my doctor's full willingness to give me a trial run at it if I ever feel curious to give it a go.
And if you don't take it for medical reasons but do for rec, how does it seem to affect your focus, and what are the usual side-effects? Aside from the normal amp-ness that is reduced appetite/increased heart rate blah blah blah.

Re: Medicinal Vyvanse Questions
Shire is marketing the hell out of this shit, it's essentially XR dextroamp. Wouldn't vyvanase be harder to abuse than regular XR adderall because it's metabolized into dextroamp instead of being formulated with time release beads that can be crushed?

Yes, it's marketed as a "pro-drug", with a much lower possibility of abuse due to this feature; essentially, it's WHY the feature exists.
Of course, the whole thing can be offset with a base/acid wash, but whatever...
Shire calls it their new "flagship ADHD/ADD product". Their patent for Adderall XR expires in 2009 and there will very likely be generic XR available at that point, possibly by Barr, who purchased the Adderall IR patent from Shire.
I go with Barr generics and they work great IMO.

Fact: You can buy "stomach acid", OTC in most places. I'm sure you know what to do from there.

Re: Medicinal Vyvanse Questions
Vyvanse lasts rediculously long in my opinion. Not overly strong in effect, but its just perfect for putting in long hours of studying.
