cultivation from prepped mushrooms
is it possible to start cultivating mushrooms from prepped dried mushrooms. some people are saying just put one into a cultivation setup (rice cake or PF tek) or put the shake at the bottom of the bag into one, but i dont want to waste any. so is this possible.

You might be able to clone a tissue sample on agar or as a LC but I wouldn't try as it would be hard to get a clean sample. I'd take a sample from the top of the cap cuz anything under it would likely be contam'd w/ spores, soak the shit out of it w/ h202 and then put it in a 4% karo solution cuz I'm assuming you don't have any agar. Maybe do like ten and give them all a week to see if anything grows and if it looks mycellium-ish use the lc to nocc up a pf jar or whatever and see what grows.
I don't think it will work but it won't hurt to try.
I've never bought any mushies but if i did and there was 'shake' in the bottom I wouldn't eat it cuz its probably dried poo or something equally.....not a mushroom

A mushroom has to be wet still to take a spore print.

What a valuable nugget.
I'm pretty sure he's not that ignorant as he was talking about using a piece of tissue (in your own quote) to start a culture which, as I already explained, may or may not work.
Could you really imagine someone trying to take a print from a dry cap?
What a waste of space

Well you have to make a spore print first to get spores then you put them into a spore syringe. I doubt you can just drop a dried mushroom in there and more will just grow. If it was that easy don't you think people would be doing it all the time? Instead of going through the trouble of a spore print and putting it into the syringe. sure it may grow something but there could be other fungus spores on the dried mushroom and since you are providing perfect fungus conditions any unwanted spores will grow also. Since contamination happens anyway when you do it the right way alot of the time your pretty much gureenteed to get acontaminated batch if you try and do what he wants to do. it would be a waste of time and resources to do that. just do it the right way the first time and you will get mushrooms. Some of the jars still end up contaminated when you do it with a pressure cooker and steriize everything so if you just plop in a dried mushroom into a "grow bag/kit" contamination is gurenteed.

Paragraphs motherfucker, do you speak it?
I'll address whatever whiney bullshit you're spouting when I can read it.
Also, please refer to this (http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5808187#5808187) thread, and re-read my post before commenting on what you "doubt" will happen in the future. kthxbi

For some reason my mac doesn't allow me to indent paragraphs it just goes back to where it was. And i don't know where you get getting "whiney bullshit from."
Cut back on those drugs man they are turning you into a strung out douche bag asshole.
Now i know why you are back on totse, did you lose all of your friends? Now you have to come back to totse and be a little whiney bitch about paragraphs. Who is really being the whiney bitch here. There was no bitching in my post so i dont know where you are getting that from.
And that was all concerning the same subject and that is why it is ONE PARAGRAPH, moron.
"Also, be ready with fresh plates to transfer into, because all the contamination on the dried fruit will also begin to grow. You'll have to transfer healthy mycelia as soon as you see it to a new petri dish. It generally takes ten days to two weeks, sometimes longer, for the dried fruit to begin to grow again. Unfortunately the contamination doesn't need that long, so you have a bit of work to do to clean up the culture, but it will work."
Your better off just ordering a sterile spore syringe and doing it from scratch.

Yeah no one can indent on a bb, what you did there, those double spaces between the blocks of text, those were paragraphs.
Maybe there wasn't any bitching, I don't know I didn't make it past the second line. I know I picked out a few things and they were all redundant or blatantly obvious. Mushrooms grow from spores? NO WAI!
give the op some credit and if you don't have anything to add don't post, and certainly don't post twice when you get called out on it.
OP, search shroomery forums for "cloning dry", no quotes, and you will have all the info you need. Unless you were just wanting to know if mushrooms grew from seeds or not, in that case ilovechronic's got you covered ;)

Re: cultivation from prepped mushrooms
You probably could do it, but it would take some serious skill with agar and a lot of time. You'd have to somehow rehdrate the tissue (maybe a H2O2 solution?) and use it to inoculate a petri dish.
You would then have to isolate the mycellium from the contaminants that would almost surely be there. You'd inocculate another petri dish with the clean agar, or maybe a few if you didn't get too bad of a contam problem on the first dish (not likely.)
Assuming you could only get enough clean agar to inoculate one more petri dish, you'd colonize that (and pray that you didn't transfer any contaminants) and do a transfer to another few agar plates.
Once those colonize and are clean, you could finally put a wedge in some grain and get something that will fruit started.
Only an expert should attempt something like this. I doubt I could even pull it off even though I can explain it.

Keep doing those drugs man they are turning you into a wonderful person. I can see why you have to hang out on totse, you must be pretty bored since you lost all your friends. drugs just turn some people into an asshole. I would snap at tiny little things to when I did opiates. I am clean now and I don't snap at shit like you do anymore.
And you can call me out all you want but the op didn't declare his experience with growing so I was simply imforming hime that it is easier to do it from wet mushrooms. If you want to be an asshole about it that is fine, but don't fuck up the ops thread bitching and moaning about whats obvious or redundant to YOU and what is not. We have the B&M forum for a reason.

Proves my point that it would be much easier to do it from scratch.

Re: cultivation from prepped mushrooms
Ok you're right. I haven't done anything but smoke weed in like six months, save the occasional shroom trip, but whatever. I gave the op all the info he asked for in my first post, and all the additional info he might want in my following posts. You told him (someone who knows what the pf tek is) that mushrooms grow from spores because "you don't know his experience level".
I'm done arguing you win I'm going to go not have a life somewhere else.
*takes another hit of raid-laced crack and yells at some kids in the front yard*
