Will you get a report compressing smokeless powder in cardboard/metAL and lighting it with a fuse?

Which would be better, a faster or slower burning powder?

I'm thinking something fast like bullseye.

Or would something like pyrodex be better?

What is the best kind of powder you can buy ready made to make a decent report by compacting it and igniting with a fuse?
