Re: Done with SSRIs
-How long have you been taking them (the SSRIs)?
-How old are you?
-What's your condition? Severity? How long have you been experiencing whatever you have (assuming depression)?
SSRI's take awhile to become beneficial because your body takes time to adjust to them, usually two weeks to two monthes. And by all accounts, this period of adjustment is a living hell and there are little or no positive effects from the drug.
That being said, I believe that anti-depressents should be a last resort, only to be used after therapy alone has been proved ineffective. How long were you in therapy before starting a drug treatment? I believe that many people, including therapists, see anti-depressents as a cure instead of a tool. Maybe give therapy a chance. Be aware that there's a difference between clinical and natural depression. Everyone gets depressed. Some of these people can get back themselves, some need time, and some might even need professional help. Maybe your condition isn't permanent and life's just got you down.
However, I'm no psychological professional and neither are most people on totse; talk to your psychiatrist first.
Also, be aware that there are alot of bad shrinks out there. And there's alot of good ones that aren't going to be compatible with you.

Re: Done with SSRIs
im a teenager ive been most recently on prozac for like five months, luvox for a while, and zoloft before that.
i have ocd/anxiety. im actually not really sure if im super anxious or if i have adhd without the "ad" part.
ive had a psychologist for years, and he has done a lot for the ocd, but not anxiety.
i personally believe anxiety is the source of my ocd, because they both wax and wane together.
i really wanna roll sometime soon, when will this be possible?

Re: Done with SSRIs
i love taking ssris.
it makes me talkative and happy... like a real human being.
it also gives me them awesome energetic highs when i smoke some bud and also you can get belligerent drunk quicker when you mix them with hard alcohol.
200 mg zoloft FTW!

yes! zoloft was the only ssri that did anything beneficial. these meds obviously are great for depression, but thats not why i needed them.
definitely felt more energetic, happier, and almost like i was on e when i took zoloft. i didnt notice any interactions with pot or alcohol though.
i took 125 mgs sertraline

Re: Done with SSRIs
i hope your being weened off them. there is a withdrawl period...
i would advise against, especially as a teenager, the use of SSRI's. the drugs mode of action at best can be described as cocaine for the seretonin system. get the picture?

Re: Done with SSRIs
Well it's a valid comparison, considering they're both reuptake inhibitors.
Yup. i have no decided these things suck and have terrible side effects and dont do a fuckin thing,
Everyone feels worse when they start SSRIs; you just need to wait for your serotonin receptors to adjust for the benefits.
I started Prozac just over a week ago, and most of the side-effects have gone. Begin on 10mg if it's too severe.
my only other option is lyrica, should i get a new doctor?
anyone have experience with lyrica? does is interact with recreational drugs? does it actually work?
Lyrica is shit, even as a recreational drug. Doses of >600mg put me into a state of delirium with total amnesia every time, but that's just me.
Even gabapentin is better, though it's depressing and amotivational unless you flood your body with many grams of the stuff.
i stopped taking prozac (fluoxetine) yesterday. when can i ingest mdma again?
It'll probably be a few months before your serotonin system is normal enough to benefit from MDMA, considering the long half-life of fluoxetine/norfluoxetine.

Re: Done with SSRIs
i quit taking ssris and its kinda nice to be my old self again. sure i get depressed now from time to time but i wanted it for anxiety relief and not depression to begin with, and the side effects suck. i was on zoloft also actually. lyrica is alright, helps my anxiety a little but only if i take 7 of the 150mg pills and eat a GABA suppliment. some people get a buzz from it more easily than others so your mileage may vary. and that's creative of your doc for suggesting that as i've never heard of it being perscribed off label for that, i just happened to find it on the web when looking for drugs that work on the gaba receptors.
now a word of caution regarding benzos: if you've never taken them for anxiety i recommend trying just about anything else before taking them. they work great, but they fog your thinking, kill your memory, make you lazier and dumber, kills your sex drive worse than ssris, but worse of all if your doc decides to cut you off you're going to be in a world of hurt. i currently self medicate with GBL, it does the trick for me. loosens me up nicely, doesn't make me dumber, actually makes me hornier (which i dont mind), and when you quit taking it it's not as bad as with benzos (the term is called "rebound anxiety").
good luck with it all, just try to keep a postive attitude. even small steps are steps towards conquering this.
edit: lyrica mixes rather nicely with some downers. lyrica + benzos will have you stumbling arround COMPLETELY fucked up. lyrica + ghb or gbl is not safe as you fall asleep/pass out with a much lower dose of ghb. lyrica and alcohol will most likely get u fucked up, iv never tried that combo cuz i dont like to drink but id be careful with that. it's safe to say lyrica + benzo + alcohol/ghb could kill you. be carefull when mixing lyrica and start with very small doses

Re: Done with SSRIs
i get ativan also ive had that for years
20 pills a month
also last night, after being rejected ambien and realizing that im gonna have to stay up till four in the morning for the rest of my life, i had an enormous panic attack. i threw up, felt so ridiculously overwhelmed and panic that i wanted to kill myself, and i hyperventilated, felt all tingly and my muscles tightened. my mom called the ambulance and i went to the hospital, anyway, my doctor has come to a little sense, but not much - 30 ativan a month. I DONT WANT FUCKIN ATIVAN I WANT AMBIEN ITS NOT EVEN RECREATIONAL GODDAMN.
this scared me - at the hospital i got an EKG. if anyone know about these, please help me out. there was something wrong with it. she said that my "P-waves" were switching directions frequently. some would go up, some would go down. the way i understand it is that its ok if they all go up or all go down, but if the change thats bad.
would this react badly with cocaine. ive heard of sudden death by coke and it being linked with heart problems. im not even sure if this is a heart problem, but will it interact with cocaine, someone help me please.

Why is that a problem? Just because it's not recreational doesn't mean it's ineffective at treating your condition. If anything, the fact that it can't be abused for recreational purposes is a good thing. You're doctor can probably see through you which is why he prescribed you Ativan as opposed to Ambien. Sounds like a smart man/woman.
And if you have truly do have severe anxiety, then you shouldn't be using cocaine, dipshit.

what are you talking about? im saying ambien isnt recreational, and would be much more effective for treating my insomnia. ativan is recreational, and the doctor dishes that out to me, when i really want ambien. do you not know what ativan and ambien are?
i dont care about using cocaine with anxiety, can someone tell me if the result of that EKG would have any contradiction on the use of cocaine?

Re: Done with SSRIs
My bad. I thought you were bitching because you didn't receive the recreational drug.
But seriously, if you have panic attacks to the point where you have to go to the hospital... perhaps you should shift your focus on curtailing that as opposed to getting high. If not, you're only going to further fuck yourself over in the long run.

Re: Done with SSRIs
ok i have four questions now.
1. are those results of the EKG dangerous in combination with coke/mdma?
2. has anyone had any luck with lyrica?
3. what drugs does lyrica interact with out of the following - benzos, opiates, weed, alcohol, coke, mdma, acid, shrooms, ketamine, 2c's, nitrous?
4. can skipping the dose on like fridays or saturdays or whenever im doing drugs stop an interaction from happening? i know this is ineffective on ssri's.

I don't see how you could misunderstand so badly. What he said was pretty obvious, and it would be retarded to come to the conclusion you came to if you actually fucking read what he said, instead of just looking for reasons to jump peoples asses.
Pay the fuck attention, constantly explaining posts just draws attention away from the topic at hand, and brings it to you ranting some stupid shit yelling at people for being "stupid" after merely skimming a few sentences.

Re: Done with SSRIs
None of that shit works.
SSRI's are scientifically proven not to work - The only thing that's authentic about them is the insomnia, loss of libido and the occasional placebo.
Therapy is bullshit too.
I suggest suicide.

I take paroxetine... it works really well for depression... makes me smile, motivated, talk more... I feel NORMAL. I agree tho the side effects are bitchy, am getting insomnia and night sweats. Worth it for a while. I felt so good I laughed a good 5 minutes when I went to bed because I was so happy the other day. Almost everything indicates I will have a girlfriend very soon! I'm so glad I decided to take SSRI, doesn't make me feel like a zombye at all. SSRI FTW
