| Cellular Mods Your cell phone is really just a specialized computer with a wireless network connection. It has the software that your cellular provider has picked for you, but their software sucks. Why not replace what they give you with better software that has more features? |

Help Wanted : CELLULAR BROADBAND
I tried googling around but couldn't find much info on cellular broadband hacks and tweaks, either wcdma or hsdpa. Does anyone have any idea where to find them ?

Re: Help Wanted : CELLULAR BROADBAND
Looking for info like hacks or tweaks on cellular broadband. I'm currently using cellular broadband on HSDPA to link to the net, not much info found on them. Also there have been no info, or text files on cellular phreak since the late 90s or so, is there no interest in modern day phreaking anymore or it's just impossible nowadays ?

Re: Help Wanted : CELLULAR BROADBAND
I know bits and pieces about what you're talking about, however I'm unable to aid you with tweaking.
I'm also unaware if you're trying to hack into other phones, if you're trying to get it for free, trying to get access to somewhere you shouldn't be, or simply trying to make it go faster.

Re: Help Wanted : CELLULAR BROADBAND
Short answer: no.
Slightly longer answer: A5 crypto spec is close to being broken.
PS. I work with HSDPA modems, and there a few things you can mess around with, but nothing I can think of that'd work to your advantage.

what ?
A5-close to being broken. time elapsed= maximum 8 years.
time it takes for telcos to switch to a new encryption = 2years max.
conclusion = hopeless.

Re: Help Wanted : CELLULAR BROADBAND
It'd probably take longer than 2 years for all the networks in the country to agree upon a new standard, but eh... I believe it would also void all production handsets, so it'd have to be phased in/out gradually.
As for monitoring, do you mean download limits? I can't think of any ways around them specific to HSDPA, but I'll definitely look into it as it's a stupidly overcomplicated system, at least the way it's implemented here.

Maybe it might take a little bit longer, but the fact remains, it could be phased out faster than the time it took to crack it open. A tiny tweak in the sim card itself could change a lot on the protocol itself I think.

Yea, more or less, but I want to know too if they could somehow invade my privacy too by keeping a log of everything I typed/sites I visited.
