Yes, I'm going to erowid right now. I just like hearing it from you guys too sometimes, so let me explain t3h situation:

Out of nowhere today, a friend asked me about DMT, I'm sort of a resident expert among my friends (even though I admit to being a complete noob at it, I still know more then them) so I told him about how it's in the brain etc. etc, trip doesn't last long but it's amazing etc. etc. anything you would find out from like a 10 second google search. Then though, he goes on to ask if we should try it. Normally I would laugh and say "Go ask the university chem professor to make it for you" or something like that, but for some reason my thought process was different this time and I thought "Hm, why not try it?" So, now I am making it a goal to obtain some and this is how I figure the easiest way will be:

1) Order some mimosa hostilis, which is avaliable easily enough on the net (I already know the site I plan on getting it from) but I have a question about this:
Is mimosa the best thing to preform the extraction from?
Would it be possible to call up a rare plant shop around my town and see if they could order it? To be honest going through the internet is a lot of hassle, and I don't have a credit card.

2) I've read some extraction methods on erowid, and they all seem easy enough, I am reasonably skilled at chemistry (passed my gr. 12 AP course with about 85%) so I figure it shouldn't be to hard, especially since it's only extraction and not synthesis.

3) Smoke
4) ????
5) Profit!

Any tips? I am largely interested in this not for a "trippy" experience, but I am a strong believer in drugs for shamanic applications....and my experiences have led me to believe that if I'm going to try something like this the time will be right, you can't just do it, idk it's hard to explain. Either way, I hope to grow from this experience, the hard part is just getting it.

If you wanna try DMT, I'd say go for ayahuasca instead of trying to extract and smoke the DMT.

According to two different guides on erowid though extraction isn't very tough, and since I do have the chemistry background it shouldn't be over my head anyway.

If you or you're friends aren't experienced with drugs, let alone hallucinogenics, you really shouldn't smoke DMT...

I am experienced with Datura, which is more of a deliriant, but honest to fucking god, if I survived that night I think I would be able to..."experience" this. I'm not going to say I can handle it, because I do not believe anything could prepare me for it. My friend, eh I'm iffy about how well he'll take it but that's his issue =/ he's messed around with mushrooms, which isn't even close to this...but w/e we'll see where it goes.

Ah okay. But one of my other reasons for going the extraction -> smoking route is that the trip only lasts about an hour (coming up, the peak, coming down), whereas drinking the brew is a longer trip.

Yes, Ayahuasca is N,N-DMT with an MAOI, because DMT isn't normally orally active. I haven't tried it yet, but from what I've heard, there is a purge, sometimes a violent one.

As far as the extraction, it's a simple acid/base with a couple washes through a non-polar solvent. Naptha is usually reccomended, you can get clean naptha in the form of V M & P brand naptha at a hardware store.

Mimosa's gonna be your best best as a starting source. It's got the best alkaloid to fat ratio that I know of for DMT-containing plants. Just make sure to wash it till it's near white. The yellow crystals don't have shit on some sparkling white DMT.

Have fun, but make sure to get plenty. DMT is rare, it needs to be spread around as much as possible.

Where the heck could I extract this without my parents finding out =/ and does anyone know if you can ship packages to a post office and pick them up? (So it doesn't go to my house), these are fairly simple things but I've led a fairly sheltered life and do not know how to go about this easy task >_>

You should be able to do it in your bedroom. Except for the naptha wash, everything's pretty much contained in a jar.

Like I said, DMT is no party drug..dont do it if you want to trip out..Your soul has to be destined to wherever it's going or else they wont be happy. I'm not touching it again for a long time.
