Default Have you ever fallen for a best friend?

I have, right now. I don't know what to do, she's been my best friend since the 6th grade.

For any of you that have been in this situation, what did you do about it?

Warning: You're possibly on the verge of ruining what seems to be a valuable friendship.

But being best friends with someone of the opposite sex is stupid anyway, so I say go for it.

If you value your friendship, don't pursue her. I don't think I've ever seen a case where the relationship actually works out, my own included.

In the long run, you two being best friends doesn't really make a difference in the success or failure of the relationship. Success is dependent on how much time you two are willing to put into the relationship. The real issue at hand here is that, unlike other relationships, you have a lot to lose if you screw this up. Once you move past being just friends, it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to ever go back. Oh sure, you might say things like, "Let's go back to the way we were before," or some such. But let's face it, no matter how much you trick yourself into believing that's the case, you're both going to feel that nothing's quite the same anymore.

As best friends, I'm sure you two have that special something where you lean on each other for support or confide in each other your personal feelings or whatever the hell it is best friends do. You have to ask yourself if you're willing to give that up.

Yep, we were hooking up for 3 months just after she broke up with her bf. I fell in love and asked her out, she said no for a myriad of reasons. Now we don't talk and i'm trying to get over her.

But truthfully, ive got no regrets. Some of the moments me had ill never forget my enitre life, she was my first love. Go for it, you don't want to be thinking what if. Also if it works out it will be pure bliss. Don't put him/her on the pedestal like i did or youll fuck it up.

Good luck, i hope things work out.

Almost fell for a flatmate who I was quite good friends with and there were times that I thought she liked me, but I never had the guts to pursue. I shagged the other flatmate instead, but that's cos she pursued me.

Constantly. Its my bad habit. But I'd rather have a great friendship than a fucked up relationship, so I never act on it.... The one time I have ended up incredibly fucked, three years later and its still hanging over me.

I havn't, but plenty of times girls I've been trying to get with have turned into really good friends.

You should probably concentrate on that more.

Yes. I have. Lasted over a year, it was amazing while it lasted. Now I'm with another best friend. We've been together for 11 months and it's even better than the last relationship. Even talk of moving out together etc.

You haven't fallen for her.

You just can't find any other women and see her as your only option.

I am now happily together with my best friend and have been for four years now. We met at school, he was a few years above me, but things have worked out magically with him. It doesn't always ruin a friendship, but you need to go with your gut instinct about it.

Are you a virgin? It could be the possibility that you've not had contact with any other cool women.

Aye. My best friend is a female, I have had feelings for her on occasions, she has had feelings for me on occasion, but we both valued our friendship too much.

It was for the best that way.

Get drunk together and try it on, if it works then go with the flow and then talk about it the next day about what happened; try not to make too mcuh of a big deal about it though.

If it doesn't work and she still knocks you back then still talk to her then while she's drunk, she may make more sense/be more open/clear about her feelings towards you.

Booze never failed me on a friend trap, it isn't always the answer, but it certainly fucking helps.

Or of course just forget about even trying it, move on to someone else AKA her hot friends.

Before you do this just ask yourself if losing her as a best mate is worth a few blowjobs and sandwiches made by her for work everyday; trust me it usually doesn't last, I'm talking from experience as well. While some of my female friends who were ex partners of mine are still friends with me, we're never AS close as once before.

Something like this.

Whenever I am low, need a shag, broken up with a girlfriend, or whatever I find her unbelievably attractive... It is so predictable now I am used to it. I just like having a close female friend with amazing boobs.

No, wrong.

I actually had some chick ask me out a couple of days ago, but I rejected her because I'm trying to sort through all of this.

Yea. I had fallen for my best friend during my senior year of high school. I had other offers, but I turned them down. And as of now, we are no longer friends. We don't exactly hate each other, but we're not exactly on speaking terms.

Don't try anything with your best friend

Yeah, we dated for a month, and then everything went to hell.
We barely got our friendship back.fornunately, we're closer than ever.
Now she's semi-dating another guy who's two-timing her and treating her like shit.
And all the while I'm having feelings for her again.
It's a bitch, cause I'm trying to be as supportive as possible of her relationship with him, but it's hard when he's not even treating her right.

Anyways, now that I'm done ranting, my advice is that 99.9 % of these fail and you can't go back to being friends. with that being said, it worked out okay for me, because we're tighter than ever. I say, test the waters, make some sexual banter, but act like you're joking. See how she responds. you can tell a lot from that.
and she might really like you, but be as scared as you are right now. that's what happened with my situation, she made no indication of liking me until one day, on impulse more than anything, I stopped her when we were walking around and straight up asked her. she'd been relieved, becasue she didn't know how to bring it up.

Remember, you don't want to have to wonder what might have happened.

go for it. i dont have any friend girls that i wouldnt fuck if i were sexually attracted to them (except for one of my best friends sisters who is also my friend and i know her family very well). if you cant handle the sexual attraction and having sex ruins the relationship, id say you probably werent as good friends as you thought.

Haha, who hasn't fallen for their best friend?

Depends where you are in life. If your going to leave where you are now; school, area, country, job, whatever.

Failing that, don't touch her. I would fall for who would be mine right now, but I don't have female best friends any more for that reason. Just repress what your feeling, it works, trust me, though I'll admit it's hard work and it will hurt. Repressing it will hurt less. It'll feel like crap, it'll make you feel noble for sacrificing your needs for those of your friend and love an it'll make you feel regret. This is OK, especially regret. Lot's of people say they regret nothing, this is denial, but there's nothing wrong with denial. Just take away the parts of yourself that hurt or don't work where you are. It will make your life so much better. You can grow them back if you need them again later.

Failing that, take it out with an equally strong feeling - aggression. It's easy and entirely natural for most men, so it works well, unless, like me, you repress it. Go somewhere you can break things, woods work especially well. Get all your frustration and need, build it up in your chest, get one strong stick, scream and smash some trees to shit. Or whatever equivalent activity you can perform where you live.

Fallen is in fallen in love?

No.

I have had hopeless infatuations though.

And I did have this mutual crush-thing with a friend a few months back. Maybe it's just me but it seems something has changed even though I tried to "fix" it.

It sorta bums me out, we were the awesomest of friends. If you're reading this I love you.

not really fallen in love, but i have fooled around with her.

We made it clear that the sex is just sex, similar to a massage.

However if you're falling in love with your best friend, it can either go well or bomb, but go for it, the what if's in life are painful.

I'm kinda in the same situation as you man. This chick was my best friend in highschool, and when I graduated we dated briefly, then I had to fuck everything up. I just recently started talking to her again, and last night was the first time I've seen her in like 7-8 years. I love her so much, but I'm trying really hard to not be anything more than friends with her, because the least thing I want is to lose our friendship once again.

This.

One of the last things I said to her was "You're dead to me."

But there was about two years worth of drama building up to it.

We were both guilty.

Everyone has, does, and probably will. I've done it. I admitted everything to the girl back at the end of August/early september. I seen her once when me and a buddy went to her work (jamba juice has kickass drinks), and another time just a week ago or so at a gas station. Other than that, we haven't spoken a word to each other. But fuck her, least she could have done was responded to me, but didn't, and she always goes for the fucking losers. I'm not anything great, but I KNOW i'm better than the guys she's been with. so whatever.

But hey. If you play it safe and you don't bring anything up, then what if she felt the same way? You guys could have had an amazing relationship, but you didn't because you were afraid.

"Tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all."

Right there. Fuck what everyone else has said. Right there.
