Girls' friends vs guys' friends
Does anyone tend to notice that women don't really have as many friends as men. Sometimes women have their 1-2 best friends it seems like but that's it. Not to mention a lot of the time all of a woman's friends are male.
Does it seem like to everyone else that men form stronger bonds with each other than women do?
To me it seems like it, when I look at any girl I can't really find any that have any really good close girl friends. The girlfriends always seem to be in a competition if anything and always pissy, etc.
Than, you'll also notice, women are much more prone to leave their friends for a boyfriend. Where as a guy, unless completely whipped, won't leave all his friends for a girlfriend.
Do girls tend to have less of a bond with their friends than guys?
I can elaborate more, but I gotta go.

There is no such a thing as girls that are friends. That's in their nature. They might seem like friends for a while, but at some point they are bound to eat each other, and not in the cool way.

Re: Girls' friends vs guys' friends
girl friends can be really bitchy. also, if one of my friends wants to date a guy that is a complete dick and not right for her (it's happened), i'm not going to come straight out and say "you shouldn't be with him". i'll be there to support her, i'll suggest she re-evaluate the relationship when they go through a rough patch, but i won't say 'he's a dick, leave him'.
true, mainly because she might just go with him and it would stuff up our relationship, but also because i recognise that it's not my place to tell her who to date. she can make her own decisions. when you like someone, it's hard to understand why your friends are so against the relationship.
i have about equal numbers of male/female friends, but i talk to my guy friends more often. they have less dramas and are generally more interesting to talk to.
also - girls always compete. who has the nicest hair/clothes/body/boyfriend/life. it's not blatant competition, but it's there.

Re: Girls' friends vs guys' friends
I don't have a lot (read: any) close female friends because girls are fickle and petty. They are jealous, catty, selfish and have no sense of loyalty, in my experience. Just from the friends I've had/lost, and through observing other people I know, one minute two girls are 'bestest friends till the end of the earth' and five minutes later they're off telling so-and-so how their best pal is a bitch/whore/slut/etc. In addition to girls generally being terrible friends, I can't really connect with them on a meaningful level because most of them are stupid and petty with no brains at all, and the ones that have any type of substance are either pretentious egomaniacs or weirdos, or no fun at all.
I mean sure, I have girl friends. But not the type I would trust with anything important. I find guys to be better companions because they generally don't gossip, slander, and hold grudges like girls do. And when you get in a fight with a guy, you curse at each other, say some mean things, and get over it. Girls are ruthless.

Re: Girls' friends vs guys' friends
Yeah, chicks generally suck at maintaining strong friendships.
Every female I've known for a long time has gone through cycles of best friends. And sometimes these cycles repeat (IE: they'll 'break up' with one friend, then months/years later become best friends again).

Where did the first half of your post come from?
I'm not asking a specific question in any relevance to me, I was just pondering this because I honestly couldn't think of any girls whom had really good close girlfriends. Girls always seem out to fuck one another over.

Ask any girl who has lived for quite a while and you'll get the same answer.
At least that's the answer I was getting.

Re: Girls' friends vs guys' friends
That's retarted. My best friend and I have been friends since we were six.
Not all girls are petty and selfish, etc. To be honest, I know just as many guys that are like that.
I have close female friends and I know from personal experience we would never fuck each other over or leave each other, and trust me, we've all had plenty of opportunities.
A lot of females that hate other girls are completley generalizing all females in the same category, and I think that that alone is just as petty and stupid as those being accused of being petty and stupid.
There are just as many dudes who fail at life as there are females, and I stand firm when I say that. I'm not disputing the fact that some girls are stereotypical skanky bitches, but again, so are a shit ton of guys.
There are plenty of girls who are loyal, honest, chilled out, and all around good people, maybe people just aren't looking in the right place. Those girls who other girls say are shallow, immature, stupid, blahblahblah are usually talking about pretty girls and other girls resent them for it, regardless if the accusations are true or not.
I love my close girl friends, I love my close guy friends, you know why? Because they all are fuckin' awesome people and friends, sex doesn't and shouldn't matter. People are people, some suck, some don't. Plain and simple.
I'm sick of females hating ALL other females, most of the time they don't even give them the chance to proove themselves.

I don't know if I agree or not. I think guys can randomly hang out on a more casual basis, but just from my own observations, girls are more intimate and can be closer and better friends with more people than guys can be, but I think guys are better at having a lot more casual friends.
But yea girls are bitchy, we get into fights all the time, it makes it hard. Oh and we let boys get in the way of our friendships way too much.

I have definitely noticed this, that the loyalty in women is pretty flighty. Didn't you know what The Bible taught us? Women are poison...

Girls are ruthless...TO OTHER GIRLS. Of course it is a competition, what sucks is that most men don't realize they are competing OVER US. Too bad, that little secret in the heart of men everywhere might shift the tides of society.

Sorry, I can't agree with this, and you basing your entire census of the population on YOUR SECLUDED friendship, to me doesn't merit much. What was that again? Pretty girls are resented? Ahhh, is that why all girls pretty or not question their looks? Are insecure? It isn't about whether the girl is pretty, it is about the nature of women and the society they live in. Everyone is eaten up with insecurities and they don't know how to handle it. Women will let emotions make decisions that no sane man would, which is why you end up with so many "BFFFFFFFS!" not actually being shit.

It shouldn't be news to anyone that women are more sharing on a regular basis with their emotions, and look for emotional support in lots of different groups. The problem arises is when the majority of women can't accept the consequences of their actions.

The fact that pretty girls have their own insecurities has absolutley nothing to do with the fact that OTHER girls resent them for being pretty.
And I think that you are basing your entire census of the population on your personal experiences, which is exactly what you just reprimanded me for.
I'm also pretty sure that women and men alike have insecurities, and I think its rediculous that you are saying all women are like this, when, clearly, they're not.

Interesting Thread.
Stereotypically, men sleep with alot more women than women with men. When I read the first post I thought about this. IMO women form a few close bonds (under 3 best friends) in which they can talk about anything, whereas guys have many good friends and 1 or 2 REALLY good friends.

Re: Girls' friends vs guys' friends
A lot of these posts raised some good questions.
Saline Colors says she has many close friends etc.
Maybe all women do, maybe I just fail to recognize this because I'm a guy.
Saline, you seem to have the same viewpoint as I do on women on both women and men. At least, men to some extent... but it still seems like you were agreeing with the general consensus?
Ojise, you mention that guys have more friends they can casually hang out with... doesn't that constitute someone as being a good friend? I usually only hang out with people I consider good friends, I have probably 20-25 good friends, 3-5 are the kind of friends that are REALLY close. Although, I don't know if this is just me personally, or if every guy is like this, but I don't share my feelings or any of that crap.
I work out all my problems myself, along with do a lot of things by myself. My secrets stay with me, one friend will never hear what another friend said about them. Anything said in confidence to me goes to the grave, ever. Honestly, I don't even like hearing shit like that.
Most of my friends actually don't know each other or hang out with the other ones. I like it best that way honestly. Keeps things really simple, especially since some of these friends are girls and I hate hearing about how so-and-so did this or that. Do almost all other guys hate hearing about this shit, or is it just a me thing?
CarbonB, you mention how women love sharing their emotions. I agree, but it doesn't seem like most women CARE who they share them with. The people they share their emotions with never seem to be close friends, just people they seem to know/work with. I'm guessing this is why it seems like women tend to have more drama in their lives? Or maybe they just generally do have more drama in their lives, and most of this drama tends to come from other women?
John deer, you say women tend to have 2 REALLY close friends and you got this information from your sister. I don't know about that, from what my older sister has talked to me about, it doesn't seem like her and her "best" friend have that great of a bond. I can remember all of her "best" friends and they all seemed to "break up," if you want to call it that, over tiny reasons that seemed completely absurd after the fact.
Not to say I haven't had many REALLY close friends, I've gone through many. But, I can tell you that if I were to see ANY of my previous best friends, there'd be no hard feelings. Although I know we probably wouldn't just start kicking it from where we left off, our friendship ended for a good reason. Maybe we didn't have anything in common and basically drifted apart slowly, or the other guy moved, or went to a different school when I was younger. There are many different reasons, but I honestly can't think of a friend that I've had where we're no longer friends because one of us screwed the other one over.
I believe my theory still stands.

Re: Girls' friends vs guys' friends
I think in general, guys are easier to get along with. Me personally, I have more girl friends then guy friends but that's most likely because I went to an all girls school.
As women, it's pretty easy for us to bitch and moan about the most mundane things but that doesn't mean the bond between women is weaker then the ones with/between men. Girls fight a lot more because, as you've said, they do tend to tell each other everything. I know guys who've found out they were gay and have waited years to tell their friends. I don't know, maybe guys don't know enough to ostracise each other?
Guys are somewhat always detatched too, I wouldn't have anything to fight about with my guy friends but I know that's definately not because our 'bond' is 'stronger'.

Re: Girls' friends vs guys' friends
just on the whole "women throwing away freindships for men" subject, i think if you look back at the hunter gatherer times the answer can be found.
on that level men are meant to find as many breeding partners as possible to carry on their genes and then feed and sustain said offspring/partners. this means that to each man every woman is a potential partner and subsequently another man taking a women doesn't mean anything really cause there are plenty more left over. that particular mates qualities don't really influence the issue iwe're simply trying to pass on our genes in some form.
on the other hand women are meant to selectively choose breeding partners based on their survival characteristics (strength, social standing whatever). in their case another woman taking a man means that the prospective mate is now permanently off the market (so to speak) and hence jealousy over a partner is more common. once a suitable partner is found all other women become potential rivals and hence the enemy.
obviously we have evolved beyond this base state but i think that remnants of this still survive in more social groups. women still turn on each other over a potential mate and men continue not to care cause we're just happy with any kind of mate.

This is where the confusion is coming in...I am generalizing, this is a discussion of generalization. Look it the fuck up. It should explain why no one gives a fuck about the one exception that is your love life.
I never said that pretty girls are NOT resented for being pretty. The problem is you are too fucking stupid to realize that INSECURITIES are the reason girls feel resentment TOWARDS OTHER GIRLS. Now...telling me I am basing my views on personal experience is also idiotic. Since I was GENERALIZING, and my personal experiences might even contradict the generalization. However, as it stands it should be obvious ALL WOMEN, and ALL MEN can never be said technically when referring to relationship circumstances.
Since it is possible for anything to happen with billions of people on the planet. Oh, and you should be more than "pretty sure" men and women have insecurities. It's just the common ones are different, and occur for different reasons.

Sorry, you can't play a numbers game. Women to me though are much more promiscuous. It's the nature of their sexual maturity.

Drama comes from other women in their lives. Most men hate drama, and avoid it at all costs. Women like drama because it is an emotional roller coaster ride. Also women do care who they share their emotions with, which is why if a woman doesn't have anyone to share her deepest feelings with, she might walk around feeling stressed and burdened. Longing to meet someone who will just listen, and appreciate her feelings, and let her share her deepest secrets and emotions. That is how you get the best out of a woman.

Ouch, that bold statement hurt me! It's more the fact that girls use words as a way of hurting each other, men use their fists. I think women realize that emotional pain hurts more for them than physical. Men on the other hand I think are more capable of handling emotional stress, and rely on their physicality to dish out punishment.

Women are inferior mentally from men (Fact) and hence have more trouble building bonds with each other because they don't know how to handle one another. Men however don't get all strung up on everything, and hence have less fights.

lmao this. Yeah it is really true. But yeah males are the same sometimes. Have you ever seen a group of 6-7 guys trying to get with one girl? It never works out.
I would definatly say that i have more guy friends than girl friends. I am only close with a few guy friends but closer with more girl friends mentally, emotionally and physically :p

Quoted for truth!
Honestly, chics are just too emotional for me. As a girl, I try not to harvest too many close female friends because logical thinking has come hard to EVERY girl I've met and tried to be close to.
I've had female best friends my entire life, and all of them have been failures: whether too possessive, competitive, controlling, demanding, jealous or sensitive, the friendship died.
Looking back on those incredibly asinine girls just pisses me off
Guys are so much easier to be friends with. :D
