i've done LSD once or twice by myself and 3 or 4 other times with a good friend of mine. on top of that i've done shrooms 4 times with the same friend.

we've always done it at my house and always have a great time.

now, tonite he's out of town but i'm about to pick up two blotters and chill by myself, doing the same as i always do, just with out my friend.

like i mentioned before i've done acid by myself before and everything was fine, a little intense but over all it was an enjoyable experience.

i've also experienced a bad trip (my first time on shrooms, and the only time i wasn't with my friend) and i've since then been able to over come that and haven't had a bad trip since.

my question is...

have you ever been perfectly fine to take acid, mentally prepared and everything but for some reason, maybe because you were alone, you just could not have a good time and had a bad trip?

like i said i'm confident i can handle it, i've done it several times before and i used to do DXM every weekend by myself for a long time.

on top of my other question, are there any experienced users that have had a bad trip come out of nowhere even though they were in a good mood and were mentally prepared?

I've kind of had that before, but I wouldn't describe it as bad so much as difficult. It definitely wasn't fun, but it's not always about that. I've described some of what happened to my friends and they said that they went through some of the same things I did during a bad trip.

But you sound pretty confident and have some experience, so I think you'll be fine. If things get rough, just remember to not judge yourself. Also, the most grounding thought that I can think of (if it goes bad simply for being too intense) is to remind yourself that you took drugs. I've heard advice to write down your name, what you took, when you took it and when you should be sober.

I've never tried it, but the theory is that seeing your own handwriting, and especially that information, will remind you that you're just on drugs and that you will come down. I do not, however, advise trying to abort a trip at all. If you have issues, work through them. That's what psychedelics are really for.

You sound like you'll be fine, though. The number one thing that stops bad trips is confidence in yourself to not have one.

I find that doing any strong psychedelics around other people is a huge mistake.

In a lot of situations, yes. It depends highly on the people, though.

Mushrooms are a lot easier to have a bad trip on alone than acid, in my opinion.

I was alone for a lot of my best acid trips, because there is no interferance from another party when you're having crazy hallucinations.

A lot of times it seems, a good hallucination/visual will be interrupted by the tripping buddy.

I say go for it.

Personally there's nothing I really prefer to a couple hits of quality acid and an evening at home by myself. I definitely say go for it, you'll have a great time.

I've never had a bad trip and I am pretty sure the reason people have them is because everyone worries way too much about having bad trips thanks to drug propaganda in the media. Even when things get really intense or scary just remember that is part of the experience and you will come out a stronger person because of it.

I remember reading somewhere that on ayahuasca you're supposed to imagine a million demons eating your soul or something, like intentionally inducing a bad trip to cleanse. So really no matter what happens, just let go and experience. In the end, just remember that it's all in your head. ;)

Especially if he lives with his parents: worrying about that will be something that will be on his mind the entire trip, which can certainly hinder a good trip.
