Filling a Prescription
About 6 months ago I received a prescription for codeine syrup. It says I have 2 refills and its still valid. I just turned 18 and I'm still living at home. What would happen if I go to wal-mart or somewhere and try to get it refilled.

Re: Filling a Prescription
The DEA will catch on. You'll be arrested and go to jail, where R. Kelley will piss on your face. And you won't be able to do anything about it.

Thats what I figured but wouldn't I need something from my parents health insurance? Sorry for asking dumb questions but I've never filled a prescription before.

Re: Filling a Prescription
now i may not know the actual answer youre looking for...but as long as its a real legit script and its still valid AND youre 18, if you go down and try to get it filled and you dont have everything you need or whatever the pharmacist aint gonna call the cops and kick you in the nuts till they get there. go down to wally world and check it out...if you need something more, im sure theyll be happy to tell you what it is

Re: Filling a Prescription
Ugh...what is with kids today, man? I'm surprised they can even dress themselves....
I'm assuming you had it filled once already when it was written? Or do you still have the paper prescription?
If you had it filled, just go into or call wherever you had it filled before. Tell them you need it refilled. They should have all your insurance information on file (if it was billed to a prescription plan in the first place). All you need to know is your name, date of birth, and the drug you need refilled.
If you are no longer on your parent's plan, or don't have coverage now, or didn't in the first place...just tell them you will pay out of pocket for it.
They will fill it for you, they can probably do it while you wait. Then pay for it (or not if your plan covers it completely) and go home.
If you want to get it filled somewhere else besides where you had it filled initially, you have to transfer it. Just go to or call where you want to pick it up and have them call the pharmacy that filled it originally.
If you still have the paper script, just go into any pharmacy and have them fill it. If you have prescription coverage, you will need the information. Either go to a pharmacy that already has your information, or bring the information with you.
Of course you can always pay out of pocket.
*edit* I should add it's possible the RX is expired by now...prescriptions are only good for a certain amount of time after the doctor writes them...regardless of how many refills you have left. Usually they're good for 1 year, but in many places it's less for controlled substances and/or narcotics (theres a difference as far as the pharmacy is concerned)
So yea, as I said call them or go in or what have you, and the worst that happens is they tell you the rx is expired.....Why'd you wait so long in the first place? You don't have to be 18 to have prescriptions filled for yourself or to pick them up.....

Re: Filling a Prescription
There's no way you can have 2 refills for a codeine product, it's CII.

Re: Filling a Prescription
I would always fill my moms script for her.No phone calls, no questions asked, I just ask for so and so's script and they give it to me. Of course it was called in first and I write my name. Also it was nothing special.

Depends on where you are. For example, pharmacies in big cities like SF require you to show ID to pick up any scheduled medications.

^^ this.
OP :
1. Walk up to counter.
2. Hand them piece of paper.
3. Get drugs.
This is not rocket science. This is not even close to rocket science. 'n btw...
I received a prescription for codeine syrup.
For extra lulz, make sure to bring a 2-litre of 7-up to the counter with you.
