Why do girls like guys that cook?
That seems to be the general consensus. How do you Totse girls feel about guys that can cook well, and why do you think it's attractive?

Re: Why do girls like guys that cook?
A friend of mine likes to cook for girls when they come over for the first time. He goes all fancy slice-n-dicing adding spices and hyping up how good it's going to be. This girl came over while i was at his house and it was just a regular grilled chicken. He did end up boning that girl though. She must have liked it.

Chicks dig a nice meal with some candles, soft music playing in the background,
It gets you laid.

Re: Why do girls like guys that cook?
I assume it has something to do with proving the guy's worth as a provider/father.
As a guy who likes to cook, I do it mainly cuz I want to eat healthy but with no loss of taste. I imagine this is a good skill to have, but my future mate better like Southwestern food

Re: Why do girls like guys that cook?
You let a woman into a kitchen to do more than just make you an apres bonk sammich then you can expect your good knives to be blunted and your pans scratched.
Cooking is man's work, women just don't have the balls for it, especially if its for a large family.
There is a reason why most of the top chefs are male, even in these godless equal rights days.

So, I was just about to jump in and go off on one about how you suck for making such assumptions and generally being a sexist pig etc...
And then I remembered how I actually DID retardedly scratch one of my dads brand new pans when trying to clean it.
So.... guess I'll just stick to the sammich making.
But yeah, guys that can cook are GREAT. Not sure its (at least, consciously) anything to do with "provider" stuff. I just love good food, and appreciate the time and effort someone puts in to do something make something nice for me.

Out of curiosity, if a guy says that he can cook (and you believe him, I mean), what do you actually feel?

Re: Why do girls like guys that cook?
I've been wanting to cook for a girl for a while.
Even something simple.. fried onions, chicken breast and chopped tomatoes with pasta or something. Bit of garlic, oregano and pepper.
I reckon it would work so well.

III would like a guy who can cook because it would mean if we ever live together I'm not going to have to take on all the cooking duties.
And trust me, if you'd ever tasted my cooking, it'd be something you'd want to learn how to do to keep me from doing it. I'm terrible :( I bake damn good cookies/cakes/cupcakes though!

Re: Why do girls like guys that cook?
I don't mind if he can't cook, I enjoy cooking. Not only do I like the executive decisions of picking out sides and how to flavor the dishes :p, I like to sit down and have whomever's eating my food thoroughly enjoy their meal. When my boyfriend or brothers or family compliment me on my food, I'm a happy camper.
But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate when a man cooks. My high school sweet heart was Italian and used to make the best parmesan chicken, not to mention whatever else I wanted. No matter which way it goes, the act of feeding someone symbolizes caring and I think that's why a lot of chick's dig guys that cook. It's a very concrete way of showing someone you care. Cooking requires a lot of time and mindfulness, and that's very appealing.

LOL you think thats bad, Mrs Ketch is a trained chef and I still hate letting her do the cooking, although she is a fantastic cook. And if she does cook (maybe once a year) then I watch her the whole time. She's ruined too many knives, pans, ovens already.

Re: Why do girls like guys that cook?

Well, call me cynical, but I rarely believe people that SAY they can cook until I've actually experienced it. A guy once cooked me a "Romantic Dinner", which turned out to be frozen pizza that he put toppings on himself.
But yeah, if I know a guy can actually cook, it definitely works in his favour. I guess I'd be just as excited about him being a great cook as if I found out that he was a good artist or musically talented. It's a skill that takes learning and practice. I really love food and could never be in a relationship where we just lived off pot noodles and takeaways. Its also really fun to be able to cook together sometimes.

Re: Why do girls like guys that cook?
Or probably just laziness, you notice that a lot with women who get us blokes to do the cooking.
I cook when I feel like, if a woman demands I cook then she's getting a fucking takeaway.
I don't mind cooking as long as the woman does her fair share now and then as well; but it seems you find most women who will expect you to cook meal just because you're "good at it", even though that'll probably have been the only meal you've cooked for her she'll expect you to always do it rom that point on.. just sounds like an excuse for her to doss about to me.

What did you learn at Papa John's then?
But yeah, making dough is really awesome. It's like a stress-reliever, and it makes you look and feel skilled.

Well at pjs the dough is already prepared in lumps(never frozen though). You just have to roll it out and flatten it. You can toss it up too but it's not necessary to me because I dont like really thin crusts.
I just had to learn to make the dough myself.

Because normal people dont like being cared about, right?
Its the same idea as him buying me something or paying for dinner, at least for me. Its not that I couldnt have bought it myself, paid for my own dinner or cooked my own food. Its that even the least complicated cooking and smallest gifts take a bit of thought and effort.
Of course, there is the added bonus of him actually being able to cook for himself. I dont mind making the meals sometimes, but he's gotta pitch in too.

Re: Why do girls like guys that cook?
Skills = hot. If a person knows what they're doing it's generally attractive, and it shows they can make nice food for you/they can put in the time or effort to do some minor-ish nice things for you now and then.
It's generally better than them being incompetent/unskilled at something. Unless it's something gay like interior design or fashion, in which case being competent at it is generally less hot.
So yeah, competency = hot, and there's some level of art involved in cooking. Also, it generally means they're likely not a chauvinist dick with no skills outside of scratching their balls and grunting, and thus probably wont expect women to do everything for them, or end up beating them when they burn their toast or whatever.

What about all the outdoor, heavy labor type stuff, like fixing the house? You'd be willing to pitch in on that?
Maybe there are certain tasks that should just be left to whoever's good at them..?
Everything doesn't have to be divided up straight down the middle, you know...

I'm a chauvinist dick, and aside from cooking just being a hobby, I might go to culinary school.
Better watch out.

It's not really that complicated. From what I've seen all it is is putting the yeast/flour/olive oil/whatever in a bowl, towel over it, waiting for it to rise. Then all thats left is folding it in on itself and applying more flour as you roll it out.
Cooking isn't really that complicated. If you have some idea of what you're supposed to be doing it turns out fine.

This, right here.
Although... I don't mind cooking. But the washing up is a bitch. So any ability to make my dishes all shiny and pristine would easily make up for being useless at the stove top. :)

Cooking isnt physically labour intensive, but for most days it has to be done at least once. Thinking of ways to keep it from getting boring, to eat and to make, can get tedious for one person.
Lawn has to be mowed what, maybe once a week? Roofing the house isnt even a yearly thing, and most men dont do their own houses anyways.

There's a lot more than just mowing the lawn and roofing the house. Those were just a couple examples. There's tons of other stuff that women typically don't do because they simply expect a man to do them. So why shouldn't there be things that a man expects the woman to do..?

Yeah, because a housewife having to prepare meals is such a demanding job.
If a woman isn't a housewife, then that's a different story, but housewives only responsibilities are raising kids, cooking, and sex.
