Why are drugs illegal?
All you fellow drug consumers must understand SOME reasoning behind the ban of recreational drugs.
From the drug users them selfs, what are some bad things about the drugs YOU take?

Re: Why are drugs illegal?
Drugs are illegal because of the vision of society having to be perfect as possible, trying to push away the problems of the rest of the world. In a society we can't have drugs because they are viewed as imperfect, which they are, and a reverse on the efforts to enhance "society." That is why drugs are illegal.

Re: Why are drugs illegal?
I can see why a person would think that coke, meth, H and other opes should be illegal but I just cannot see why anyone in their right mind would think that weed, shrooms, LSD and other psychedelics should be illegal. It just does not make any fucking sense, at all.
I say an article recently about how in California, a car crash happened, and the person that was at fault was stoned on medical weed from a dispensary. So the fucking cops went there (don't know how they found which one it was) and arrested the owner and shut down the 6 dispensaries that he owned. But everytime a drunk driver kills somebody, the cops just do NOTHING. I can't believe the goddamn irony in this shit.

Actually it does, but only if you're of a certain group of Native Americans in the US.

Ok then why aren't psilocybin-containing mushrooms legal? They have FAR more positives than negatives. The worst negative I can think of is possible nausea, which is quickly eliminated by weed. I just can't wrap my head around this kind of shit.

I suppose they should follow similar rules as is done with peyote.
But, the reason peyote is legal for that select group, is because they were using it before 'we' (the Europeans) came and took this land. So it would be a colossal dick move of us to deprive them of it.

Has it occured to you that meth is already legal (sort of.. ), and same with "other opes" because they serve a genuine purpose? Technically, if you really wanna nitpick, these so called "hard drugs" are in fact more necessary than hallucinogens.

Re: Why are drugs illegal?

That still doesn't change the fact that hallucinogens aren't technically necessary, for anyone.
But then again, I guess you could say the same for alcohol...
But opiates and amphetamines can fulfill a need for people.
So if anything is going to be legalized, they should start with the drugs that have practical uses. Then they can start considering the other drugs.

I totally see your point with this, and this is in fact why I am quite conflicted on the issue. But I still think that including certain drugs and excluding others can come off as a bit.. unfair/illogical. Because how do you decide which drugs are worse than others? Is it in terms of addiction potential? Or OD potential? Or long term health risks? etc...
There are a lot of thing that need to be weighed out in order to do this properly.

Re: Why are drugs illegal?

Shrooms and LSD and mescaline have been shown to have next to no addiction potential. To OD on shrooms, you need to eat your body weight. I'm not sure about mescaline and LSD, but I know of no recorded overdose of either. Long term health risks again are miminal for all of these, the worse being HPPD, which occurs in less than .05% of people trying these drugs.
Now if you contrast that with something like heroin or meth, THAT is how you decide which drugs should be legal and not. There isn't really a logical and realistic case for the advocation of the legalization of strong opes, meth, coke.
I am ALWAYS open to things though, if someone would like to post something that opposes this, PLEASE Do! I look forward to it.

Re: Why are drugs illegal?
Shrooms are TECHNICALLY legal here in Florida.
State legislature was given a chance in 1978 to make them illegal but never did specifically.
At least, wild picked mushrooms of low doses. Ever caught with mushrooms in FL, keep your mouth shut and call a lawyer. Your lawyer will pinpoint this case from 1978 and get you off since Pscilocibin carrying wild picked mushrooms can not be considered a container of pscilocibin.
