Should I just give up and forget about the situation with the gf's parents?(long)
So a few months ago my girlfriends mother got hold of a written rant by me. None of it was really true, I was just having a shitty night so I wrote about it to make me feel better. It said that I was so tired of my girlfriends stupid ass mom. I said I was tired of her stupid crybaby shit, tired of her making my girlfriend cry and she was a crazy bitch a cunt, a fat ass and numerous other things. To top it off I said that I as much shit as I put up with that night I didn't even get laid.
(I cant find the original document so don't ask for it)
So, the next thing that happens is my girlfriends mom finds it, gets extremely upset and hurt by it. She shows it to everybody including her husband and tells most of the extended family about it. So that night I'm being harassed by her extended family about how much of a nerdy faggot and how Emily can do so much better than me blah blah blah. (at least I don't do meth, which is more than I can say for half of her extended family)
So the next day I scrape what little money I have together and send her some flowers that drained the last of my free money that she didn't even say thanks for or want. I wrote her a letter apologizing and telling her I was just upset and I didn't really mean it, I told her the simple truth. I haven't apologized in person because she doesn't want me too and I feel like her just seeing me would make things worse.
I've been depressed about it because everything was going well with me and her family, everybody liked me, thought I was nice, ect, ect. Now I feel like they don't even want any thing to do with me (which I can't blame them for) and it seems things will never be the same again.
So 3 years and not screwing up or bringing my girlfriend home late even once is all flushed because I got angry like an idiot. I never said those things to her face I wrote them down because I thought it would be a better outlet then letting my anger burst and hurting her feelings.
So finally Tuesday my girlfriend's dad talked to me about the entire situation, the first thing he told me is that it was going to be a one way conversation. he said he would kill me if it ever happened again, explained why things were the way they were(even though no matter how things were it really didn't give me the right to say those things, thats why I wrote them down thinking that would be better)and how his wife cried for weeks and weeks. It was actually kind of scary. He asked me if I had anything to say about all of this and the only thing I could muster out was theres nothing I really can say to make anything better.
I don't have any hope that things will be the same or I will ever be visiting or spending any holidays with her family for a long time if ever again (maybe I'm being overly dramatic about it?). However I still feel terrible and don't feel like things will be good again relationship wise with her family. And I'm afraid it will start to hurt my relationship with my girlfriend. It sucks ass and I just get depressed and annoyed when I think about the entire situation. Its really starting to get at me. It had even caused my grades to suffer a bit too.
Should I just forget about everything and never visit or talk to her family again? Should I just give it even more time? How can I avoid letting any of this damage my relationship with my girlfriend?

Re: Should I just give up and forget about the situation with the gf's parents?(long)
The things you wrote down? Were they in a journal of some sort? Just one piece of paper? How did she come to find this little rant?
For instance, if it was a journal, and quite obviously that then she had absolutly no right. It would be her own fault for reading such things. However, if it was a shitty bit of paper just lying around somewhere then you are sort of asking for it...
It strikes me a little odd how none of this harrasment has come from you girlfriend. To be honest if you have been nothing but the perfect boyfriend to their daughter for 3 years, and they can't accept an appoligy for something that was written in a moment of anger they are not worth it. Sounds like they have all got their heads suck up their ass.

Re: Should I just give up and forget about the situation with the gf's parents?(long)
Your girlfriend is going to play a heavy hand in how open they'll be to you in the future. She is your common ground, you all care about her. If it's important to HER for her family to accept and love you, then she's going to have to tell them - over and over.
Things are going to be sensitive for a while. Obviously you guys weren't super close from the beginning, otherwise this would have been resolved by now. I'd just say keep trying, treat your girl well and do what you can to get back into their good graces. Again, she's going to have to explain to them what it means to her for all of you to get along.
What matters is that you love her and treat her well. You aren't dating them and they need to get over it. They are the adults, unfortunately, you can't control how other people react to things.
Good luck. And if this is a standing issue, you going to have re-prioritize. Your grades and girlfriend are what's important.

Re: Should I just give up and forget about the situation with the gf's parents?(long)
I didn't read any responses so I don't know if this has already been said...
You need to move on, you fucked up. But that's not the reason you need to move on, more of the reason you should move on NOW rather than later. If you can't put up with a girls family, especially at an age when she still lives with the family, you don't need to be dating her.
Than for that ass hole to tell you he's going to kill you?
If ANY girls dad ever pulls me aside and says that, he's got another thing coming. You should've choked a mother fucker out, straight acting a fool like that telling you he'd kill you. He's trying to put you down man, wants to set it up so he's the man.
Wrong you're your own man and you need to slap that disrespect down asap.

i'm confused. you wrote all this stuff down and then you left it at your girlfriends house? that seems pretty dumb. why don't you do your journaling at your own house.

Re: Should I just give up and forget about the situation with the gf's parents?(long)
I seem to remember this thread from a while ago.
Basically, I would've never let anyone's dad have a one way conversation with me. As soon as he said that I would've been like "No. I'm going to have a conversation with you about it and be rational about this whole thing"
You see, people can't argue with logic, without getting emotional and letting their emotions make them irrational.
Or just tell him to fuck off, I don't know. Who cares?

Unrepress that shit.
No reason to repress an emotion you feel.

Re: Should I just give up and forget about the situation with the gf's parents?(long)
I agree with this guy ^
You really need to put pops into his place man.
You better not bitch up next time this shit happens.
Seriously, next time that one way conversation bullshit starts happening you need to AT LEAST say something and man up.
You basically already showed him that you're the bitch.
Dad's LOVE that shit. I have NEVER backed down to someone's dad, regardless of what he's done. Now that I think about it, I bet you showed your weakness towards him early on, and THAT's why he tried this shit.
You need to march back over there and be a man. Go get your girlfriend, and if they have anything to say about it you need to tell them how it is.
You should be nobody's bitch.

Why not? Makes my life easier. I figure being a whole person is great an all, it just hurts way too dam much. Just remove the bits of you that hurt or get in the way.
