Default Reasons not to get a Medical Canabis card

I just turned 18 and i am interested in getting an appointment at Medicann in order to get my medical cannabis card. Although i have no serious ailment which requires Marijuana as a treatment, I do smoke fairly regularly and do not want to have to face the harsh consequences of being caught by law enforcement. I was just wondering what the negative consequences of having this card would be such as complications with my current doctor and medical records. I am also living at home still and my parents do not approve of my cannabis use inside their home. If i become a medical patient there will be no way of them findign out correct. My health insurance and such will stillb e the same under their name correct?

eh, seems like you're being a pussy about smoking weed.

jack shit's gonna happen to ya mate, don't worry about getting in trouble unless you're dealing, most places are really relaxed with their cannabis laws now.

Don't bother trying to get prescriptions, or the like. You'll get turned down, could get in trouble with the authorities, and i've also heard about some log they have that stores all the people that try to get or use fake prescriptions. The only way to get anything through the medical system like that, is to seriously have a problem.

If the doc's office doesn't report it to your insurance, then your insurance won't know. If you go to another doctor's office, don't say, "I went to so-and-so's office for my last checkup." (so they don't call for your records) This prevents your medical files from getting back to your insurance. I don't believe there is any state/nation-wide medical document filing system, yet...

Oh, and if it's your parent's insurance (again, don't use your insurance), then they can find out. My dad called me up when he was doing his taxes and asked if I got my prescription to Modafinil (something I hadn't told him), because he was taking it too. Anyway, I also seem to remember that the visit+script is around $100 if you go to the doctors who operate specifically to hand out cards. I'm sure you can find one. They take no names and use no insurance, IIRC.

Trying to get one without needing it is no different than someone who tries to get painkillers who isn't in pain. It's abuse of the system and makes it that much harder for those who really do need the med[s] to get them. And in the case of medical marijuana, it can change public opinion if it is seem to have too many people abusing it like that.
