Depersonalization, even when not high.
Yeah I read that other thread about having bad times when high. And something from wikipedia he posted describes my current state well.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depersonalization
I thought I was just depressed, but did I do something to myself with drug use? I doubt it, I had some scattered marijuana use, a third plateu DXM trip. Adderall a couple times. Diazepam once.
Is this treatable?

Re: Depersonalization, even when not high.
I felt like that on shrooms, and do still every now and then. It's like life is a game, nothing matters. In the end we all die and go to dust, and no one can do anything to make a long-lasting effect. It's a harsh reality for some, but it's the truth: brutal and up-front.

You seem to follow me around insulting my since I said some bad thing about you, I don't even remember.
I had expected a reality like this from strong psychedelic, but pot is only a mild psychedelic, although I've had crazy times on it.
It gets worse when I focus on it, usually I can ignore, but I can put myself into strange thought loops about my thinking. Metacognition, thinking about thinking.

This is very similar to what I get while stoned.

You can spend a few hours on webMd and convince yourself you have a ton of other psychosomatic diseases. Everybody thinks there's something wrong with them.

Re: Depersonalization, even when not high.
I may have it.
I'm soon to start going through another medical evaluation to see if we can clear this up, I only recently figured out what depersonalization is and told my doctor about my experiences so she feels it's necessary to go through the steps and find out what's going on.
EDIT: If anyone saw my full post here before I edited it could they please not repost it in a quote or anything, I let myself go on and on and i don't really want to have all of that discussed here.

Nobody's being a bitch. I am apathetic toward the whole situation, just wanted to know if this is just something that "happens" or is from any drug use.

Re: Depersonalization, even when not high.
W_S_T, you might want to watch a movie called "Numb".
It's pretty good and in the movie the main character is worried that weed is what made him develop it but even the doctors say it probably would have happened anyways and he just triggered it sooner. It can happen with or without.
I really liked how they never blamed the weed definitely like a lot of movies and took a realistic approach, with new proper information, not 1960s scare tactics.

Lulz.
It seems like you're just going further and further into it, worrying about what might be the case and thinking about it too much. By thinking about it too much, you might be causing it, or even exacerbating it.
It's weird how psychological conditions work. If you would just chill the fuck out and stop worrying about it, you might not even notice it again. And then who's to say you have depersonalization disorder? Nobody. See, it's all in your mind, and how you perceive things.
You probably never thought you had a problem before you saw that. So why do you think you have one now?
Everyone gets a little scatterbrained now and then, but I don't think nearly as many people have real problems as the amount that think they do.

Re: Depersonalization, even when not high.
onysik22, I think you may have been talking to me but I'm not sure.
I read about it before I saw the movie lol, that's when I thought about how much it explains about my fucked up mind, that's why I went and saw the movie, to see how they portrayed it. Love that movie, it was like watching my life sorta except he had it go full blown much later in his life.

This is pretty fucking true. I'm not saying I know I have it, mental illnesses have been a part of my life since I was on prozac at six so I'm not one to jump to conclusions about what I have or not, I try to relax and just enjoy life. That's what everyone should do, if you're a little worried about something and you think it might be serious, just talk to your doctor, don't panic and start going "OMG THAT'S ME!" or "I'M JUST LIKE THAT! OH NOES!". That's one of the reasons that unless you're pretty damn stable in the sense of who you are, I wouldn't watch it while you're high, you start that kind of thinking.

Re: Depersonalization, even when not high.
Are you under a lot of stress?
I convinced myself I had diabetes a few years ago. I was under a ton of stress because of heavy end of the semester course work and my ex-girlfriend. A psychology professor mentioned something about drinking lots of water and having diabetes. So I read threw all the symptoms and I convinced myself I had it; even though, I've never been overweight in my life. I went to a doctor and got blood work and I was perfectly fine.
It sort of takes over your thoughts and you become thoroughly convinced you have it.

Yeah I was just thinking that, I am probably just getting past the emotional teenager stage. I have pretty much gotten over it, It was dumb to think that I have a disorder.
I feel "numb" most likely because my crazy teen hormones are starting to shut the fuck up.

Re: Depersonalization, even when not high.
Well, the thing is, pharm industries want to make everyone think they have the disorders, more patients, more cash.
That's why everyone thinks they have ADHD, just very few people have this disorder but it has been bumped up to this bullshit amphetamine-zombification of the youth.
again, please unquote me.

How old are you? I think I'm going through this too. I'm almost 19. Everything seems stagnant. I don't really have the same interests as I used to. My thought patterns and urges aren't the same. Guess it's just another stage in life.
At first I was convinced that weed had turned me into a schitzo. But I haven't been smoking for even half a year and I've only done LSA and shrooms once...so that's irrational seeing how people can do this shit for years without doing much damage.

Applause! A productive thread!

Probably it, I sometimes feel I am too aware of my own conciousness for my own good. I get alot of thoughts like "It's just an illusion, a biological function to keep me making babies, I have no reason to do anything"
But luckily none of that seems real enough, or imbeded in my thoughts enough to make me an apathetic douche.
