What exactly is resin?
Isn't it just smoke particles that settle on the sides of a piece? If so, could I blow a hit into a philly tube every once in a while, close it, and it'd fill with resin? Or could I just retoke that toke later on?

Re: What exactly is resin?
if you blow smoke into a tube, the "good stuff" is already in your body, so theres no point. The resin inside the pipe is from smoke that has not yet gone into your lungs.

Re: What exactly is resin?
that would work if your lungs didnt already absorb most of the thc.

Re: What exactly is resin?
What if i just pull a rip, or inhale for only a second? So what happens to that smoke in the tube then, if it can't become resin or anything? Just becomes stale until I open it again?

Re: What exactly is resin?
who cares? it doesnt matter.
trying to make resin is very uneconomical. if your interested in extraction try cooking, hash, honey oil, etc

One hit will not leave too much resin, I would think. It takes a several bowls before it begins to develop into a thick black sludge, in pipes.
Why are you so intent on creating a disgusting gunk to smoke? Why not just smoke your nice green weed?
If you want to get something that will produce a lot of resin, why not just get a metal pipe with a cap on the bowl and no shotgun, and don't clear your hits? One one with chambers in it for putting more weed in?

True that. The resin in my pipe has kept me cheery through the driest of times. I never clean that shit.

Re: What exactly is resin?
I don't really want to make any resin, but like the two previous posters said, resin is nice every once in a while. The bowl just lasts forever.
N theres no real reason to it, I was curious, n it'd be funny to have this philly tube chuck full of resin in a year or two.

At my local head shop, they have glass tubes with large bubbles in them and a shotgun at the end, near where you stick a blunt, and smoke it through the tube. Maybe you should think of getting one of those, and not using the shotgun all the time?
Tube of resin.

Re: What exactly is resin?
My dad walked into my room the other day as I was scraping the resin out of my bowl, and he goes "I hope your not smoking that, its like eating shit. mhhm that hamburger was good, how about a second helping. I had a buddy who would come over and exhume all the resin out of said devices that it collects in. I dont know why I told you that. Stop smoking in your room, go outside"
I just think it pertains to this thread

Re: What exactly is resin?
Fuck scraping it, cleaning with acetone then evaping it works wonders and once its been swilled with acetone a few times its surprisingly clean... Who cares how shitty it is, it gets you stoned as fuck and its more or less free weed.

It's at least getting your moneys worth.
Resin pretty nice when your dry and you do get pretty damn high with not too much of it.

Re: What exactly is resin?
I've used acetone, and I hate it. It changes the resin some how, though I'm not sure what or how. I prefer iso alcohol.

Iv used both and not really noticed much difference, the way I see it both solvents pull the resin in the same way and both evap cleanly. Mind you when its pipe resin you cant really expect it to be the nicest smoke ever regardless of how you get it out the pipe. Any solvent has still got to be a hell of a lot cleaner than scraping it and considering I tend to smoke shotties there is going to be a reasonable amount of tobacco resin in with it too.

Well.. you've got some tar, carbon, ash some oils, and a good amount of THC. Once inhaled the THC will be absorbed into your body so there's not much point in blowing your second hand tokes into a tube..
