Marinol, appetite enhancement, and drug tests
I'm on probation, and my PO has yet to drug test me.
I have a script for Desoxyn (Methamphetamine), so I'm allowed to come up positive for that.
However, since I quit smoking pot in February, I have had zero appetite most times. I eat one big meal every 3 or 4 days, and in between meals are replaced by snacking. This leaves me exhausted most days, and when I finally do eat, I am nauseated beyond the point of being functional.
My idea is to ask my psychiatrist for a Marinol prescription to counteract these appetite issues. I am almost certain he will oblige.
Will I come up positive for THC? My plan is to get this prescription, and if it will give me positives for THC [which will be allowed on probation via prescription], I'll just take up toking again, and there will be no way to prove otherwise.
Any suggestions? Ideas? Personal experiences?

Erowid. That is my suggestion.
I'm not sure how loose a psychiatrist would be with prescribing Marinol to someone fresh out of jail with a drug habit. Just dont go in thinking youre going to get it.

I didn't go to jail, and I don't have a 'drug habit'.
He gladly prescribed me Desoxyn 2 months ago, even knowing my legal situation/circumstances.
In the past he prescribed me Adderall and Xanax.

HELL YEAH, that's precisely what I wanted to hear!
Yeah, it's delta-9-thc; I highly doubt my PO will go through the trouble to differentiate all the other cannabinoids present in pot from the Marinol.
The only reason I'm going through THIS process and not straight-up getting my medical card is because there's still legal issues in California regarding medical cannabis. The DEA won't leave dispensaries or its clients alone.
Dank! Next time I meet with him is in a little under a month. SHITYEAH :D

Has Adderall, xanax, desoxyn, and wants to do marinol. You've probably done more than that. No drug habit? Or is it that he just doesnt know about it? :Þ
Sorry about assuming you were out of jail. I saw you were on probation and figured that's what happened. What are you on probation for?

My doctor knows I've had a history of drug 'ab'use, but didn't hesitate to write me a Desoxyn prescription.
I don't like the effect of benzos, plus they do nothing to help me overcome the severe nausea involved with sitting down and eating a legitimate meal.
I'm on probation for nothing drug-related; petty theft and a bullshit assault/battery charge.
I'm pretty sure it'll fly with him, but I wanted your opinions on the matter first.
Will the Marinol even help?

Re: Marinol, appetite enhancement, and drug tests
only thing is i dont think a psychiatrist can prescribe marinol for appetite issues. you would have to see a nutritionist or something of this like, and they probably arent up for prescribing marinol.
but yes the marinol will help

Nope. My dad's a physician, and he has told me stories of doctors prescribing all sorts of shit to patients.
According to his medical handbooks, and U.S. law, ANY physician can prescribe ANY pharmaceutical if they and their patient agree it is a good course of treatment.
Who's the dumbass now?

Re: Marinol, appetite enhancement, and drug tests
the other drug for appetite enhancement is depro-provera. now unless you live in a pot friendly state, your chances of even scoring marinol are low...
if you do go to a doc about appetite issuses, i'm willing to bet you get pulled from your desoxyn treatment.

It really sucks for BLTC that it takes this many posts nowadays for someone with some sense to point out the obvious.
Unless you've got a doc like Anna Nicole Smith's, and as long as his medical school wasn't called Nick and Tony's College, then a patient with prescription methamphetamine complaining of poor appetite is much more likely to lose that script or have it greatly reduced before aforementioned doc throws some THC on top of it.
And Marinol is just THC, weed has all sorts of cannabinoids. Your PO most likely can differentiate that shit, and usually they wouldn't, but if you're on Marinol, I wouldn't be surprised. If I'm a textbook PO and my client is on Desoxyn and Marinol, I'm going to shell out the extra cash/effort to send his sample for extended tests. Think about it.
Seriously if your appetite is so poor, try cutting back on the methamp; it's a novel idea, I'd say.

This is a real risk.
Also Marinol will not likely be prescribed in this case but good luck I guess (or most of the cases posted in bltc). Also you might not call it a habit but you ARE a drug user, at least except it.
It should increase your appetite if you do get it and yeah you'll probably feel stoned most of the day depending on the dose you take.

Re: Marinol, appetite enhancement, and drug tests
Yeah I agree with the other poster that said that they're gonna take the desoxyn for the appetite problems. I mean thats probably why you do have your appetite issues cause you take meth everyday. Plus what are the odds you get marinol? If you lived in California then you'd have a chance to get medicinal marijuana or marinol. Depends on the laws in your state.

dumbass. just because the law says that you can prescribe anything doesn't mean it's correct. We have freedom of speech and press, but that doesn't mean that people just run around outside screaming "Fuck" and other offensive things. Also, you are already prescribed meth, xanax and you are trying for marinol? Fat chance.
You are on probation.
They will definetely take the meth away and give you amphetamines, then ritalin and so on until you are able to eat again. Probably meetings with a nutrition counselor.

Well I can't say for sure about Marinol but I can speak for Cesemet and yeah, I got pretty high for a large amount of time, maybe not most of the day...
Like I said it depends on the dose your taking though.

Re: Marinol, appetite enhancement, and drug tests
US doctors like to treat sympthoms rather than causes but you'll probably get your desoxyn script taken away if you complain of lack of appetite. Most physicians would be hesitant to prescribe marinol to non cancer/AIDS patients.

Re: Marinol, appetite enhancement, and drug tests
the only way the poster [even living in pot friendly states with the exception of california] would even have a shot with marinol or any other THC derivative as a medicine would be under a few conditions [with or without the meth, most likely without]..
-a BMI of less than 14
-a daily caloric intake of less than 1000
-an already shear weight deficet of at least 20-30 pounds for your height.
-and most likely, a note documented on your medical records of an eating disorder, which they will happily put on for you..
now, even if you went to a nutritionist, you'd be drugged as a shear last resort but more than likely dropped out of noncompliance with what they want you to do first..

Re: Marinol, appetite enhancement, and drug tests
OR I can just tell him the truth, that I've had these appetite issues since before I was ever on Desoxyn, and that I have noticed NO difference between being on ADD meds and off them. That this problem only became serious in the 6-month break I took from taking Adderall.
What about THAT?
Plus, California is the official Medical Marijuana state, 90% of cities in this state have at least one dispensary.
I highly doubt he would take away my Desoxyn, especially considering that he was old/senile enough to read 'methamphetamine' as 'methylphenidate' on several occasions.
Plus, my PO didn't bat an eye when I handed him the information on Desoxyn.
And I DON'T have a prescription for Xanax anymore; I told him I simply didn't need it anymore. After watching a friend go on a k-pin binge and pass out in the middle of the street, I decided it was best I didn't have that shit around.
I get the feeling you guys are just jealous...

if you live in CA, than why don't you just get medical pot? your current doc might not be all for it, but you can look around [even if you have to spend a day in LA]...
why would you even consider marinol if pot is avalible? granted i don't know how the PO status would be on that, because if i remember correctly having a script doesn't cover your ass if you fail a drug test over there?

Yeah, it does give a pos in a drug test. But I don't think your Dr is going to be as ready to write you a prescription as you think.

I already explained that -- in California, the DEA is rounding up medical marijuana patients left and right. I don't want anything to do with the Medical Pot system until the feds leave the patients the fuck alone.
Jealous -- yes, jealous. I get to tweak hard on medical-grade d-meth twice a week LEGALLY.
And I'm pretty much positive my doc will give me the marinol prescription.
Here's how the Desoxyn discussion went:
"Doc, I'm convinced I need to be on ADD medicine again."
"Well, you've always been well-informed. Maybe you can suggest a medicine you'd like to try?"
"I've heard good things about Desoxyn."
[pulls it up in the PDR]
"It says here, 'for treatment of ADHD'."
[doc fills out prescription after asking no more questions]
And here's how the Xanax discussion went:
"I've had evening anxiety for as long as I can remember."
"I can prescribe you Alprazolam for that."
[fills out script]
"Thank you, doctor."
I'm GOING to get my THC damnit :P

No you won't. Doctors get sued for doing that stuff. If you were to overdose on anything and you die, your parents would sue your doctor and he would lose sooo badly.
