So I met this girl.
She lives less than an hour away from where I live in Wisconsin. She's intelligent, attractive, funny, and a great conversationalist. We have a great deal in common. She's 17 (I'm 16), home-schooled, has her driver's license and a car, and just got a job today after the interview. She doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs, which is good because I used to do that (not smoke though) and want to stay out of it.
I've told her that I used to drink and stuff, and she's ok with it, as long as I don't do it anymore. We really hit it off, and we both like each other. More than just like, of course. As sappy as it sounds, one of those "love at first sight" things. We're going out and are gonna hang out again sometime in early June.
The problem that enters the equation, as there is always one: I'm moving to Arizona in July. It's not like we'll never see each other again since my Aunt and Uncle come up to Minnesota/Wisconsin for holidays. She only has one year of school left too, and she was planning on moving to Tucson in Summer '09. So it's definitely not like we'll never see each other again.
I know that we're both still young, and that it's a pretty long distance relationship, even for just a year, but I've really fallen for her and don't want us to drift apart, as it could happen from the lack of actually seeing each other. I can't back out of the move to Arizona, because I have nowhere else to go in Wisconsin (courts have it set up for me to move).
It's great and thrilling that I met someone like her; but also frustrating and saddening that it had to be so close to my moving out of the state, as well as the lack of opportunity to see her on a regular occassion. I'm not gonna break up with her for any reason, and I'm certain she wouldn't break up with me either.
I know that this will stress me out at least a little all the time. Any advice? And any personal experiences of a similar situation that you're willing to share?

What's up with her cheek? She almost looks like a female version of that mannequin in the Saw movies.

It's the angle of the picture and the way she's smiling.

Angle of picture.
This thread wasn't originally for discussion of what she looks like. It was for advice on how to handle the situational stress and for stories others may have about similar situations.

I know my life has barely started, but being "young and angsty" my hormones are obviously out of control.
Also, please remove the picture from your previous post.

And why not?
I asked politely, I didn't want it here in the first place and I don't want it on here. I only posted it because you asked, and it took away from the original discussion. Thus why I am asking you to remove it from your post.
Once more, please remove it.

Re: So I met this girl.
Ok so back to your question...
The best advice I have ever heard about relationships, is that every one is a growing experience. No matter what happens, you will be given an opportunity to grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. (If thats your thing).
You seem like a nice guy for being a 16 year old boy. I know I was a total douche when I was your age. I think that if you follow through with this, you will get a lot out of it.
One recommendation I will give you is this: Try your hardest to not set expectations, high or low. Expectations are what allow us to get hurt the most. Also, remember that by staying in the relationship, you are putting yourself in a position to be hurt. (This goes with any relationship)
My best friend has been a part of a long distance relationship for almost 3 years now. From what I see it has been an amazing experience for him, and he has come a long way. At first it was very hard for him, and he would call me every other night to talk about how difficult it is. Now he couldn't be happier with the way things are going.
Of course it is going to be hard at the beginning, especially if you have strong feelings for this girl. Just try not to let your fears run your life.
The thing about teenage relationships is that we tend to complicate them with love and sex. At your age, I could tell you that you need to casually date, so that you can figure out what type of girl you would want to be with. Unfortunately that is not realistic. It is inevitable for us teens to date, fall in love, and fuck, if we stay in a relationship long enough.
I hope that I have helped you in some way or another. Just remember that no matter how much pain or happiness or frustration or fear you experience, it is all still experience, and you will come out the other end a much stronger person.

First off, Excellent advice. The kind of quality needed for this stuff.
Yes, I agree 100% with the growing experience idea. I am very superficial and cautious with people. I don't trust them. Very rarely will I ever actually talk about my past honestly and openly. Talking to her on MSN over the past hour or two, however, I've told her more about my past than anyone. That must mean something. I was almost crying. I would have been if I was either a bit less tired or had more teary eyes. I don't really cry for anything. I think the last time I genuinely cried was at my Cousins funeral 3 years ago, he died in Iraq.
I was never treated very nicely in school and my parents are both fuck-ups in their own ways. I absolutely despise genuine cruelty and hate the thought that I might have caused someone true pain. I really strive to be a nice person.
I know it'll be hard at first. I tend to get overwhelmed and anxious easily, so it's probably just overthinking it.
I could not care less about sex. I really don't find it that interesting. Granted I am a virgin but I care more about the person than the pussy.
But yes, thanks. This is very helpful.

No one did. She's just like the Latinas that want their hair and eyebrows to match. They're drawing the hair back on as we speak.
