Default When will weed be legalized?

What's the first state you think will completely legalize weed, when, and why?

As long as there remains international treaties in place, no state will totally legalize it..

But the first state to take it as far as it can go, I think, will be California.

"if every drug user actively fought for legalization, it would happen in a heartbeat"

grassroots man, it starts here, now. my friend and i walk down the street chanting NO MORE DRUG WAR when there are people around or car windows open, and lots of people we meet on the street we tell them about how much the drug war costs the US and how ~69 billion anually is wasted when it could be spent on healthcare, education, ect. (idc abt run on) we've spent over a trillion combined. not only the 'druggies' suffer from prohibition. we just need to turn over the voters minds. fight it every day, we can win.

if everyone across the country did small protests like that, it wouldn't be so stupid. it would get attention, and maybe something would be done about it. sitting online bitching about drug laws does nothing. the government prefers you stay in your house doing nothing. it's easier for them that way.

But in reality, that will never happen. People are not going to walk around all over the country chanting "STOP THE DRUG WAR" etc... And because of that, anyone that is doing that right now is not going to change shit because anyone seeing them will write them off as either a psycho, or a junkie. Or both.

shut the fuck up cunt, you disbelievers are the ones who make our forces lose momentum.

yes, we actually do this, the seattle marijuana march gave us the idea. we only do it when people can hear us, as often as we can. it shows people that there are people that want it to change, it gets the subject on their mind, it builds us momentum by showing other people on our side that we want it now and we're doing something now, and they can 2. this spreads the idea and sooner or later you have twice as many stoners chanting no more drug war, then 4x, we will grow exponentially. when people can't go for a day without having our anti-brainwash advertised to them, the lies revealed to them with evidence and facts, they may start to question the drug war, especially when they realize it costs them personally $530 each year, and all the taxes we could be making off them (although i personally do not support taxing of drugs, only legalization).

if you believe drugs should be legal, join the fight, spread the word, it's about god damn time.

EDIT: no, you don't get it doooshbaggy. reality is what we decide to make real. there are MANY of us, and it's time are voices be heard. once druggies see that other druggies are joining the fight, making their voice heard on the street daily, they will too, so will all their friends, and their friends, and the people that hear them on the street that are for legalizing drugs. grassroots man, it starts HERE, NOW. and we get written off as junkies and psychos without chanting anyway, it's funny, we don't care.

if you wanna be walked on for the rest of your life, go ahead, don't do anything about it, don't try. at least we're fucking trying.

one day we will win.

nationally, probably not. state/local, probably. but, hey, anything can happen.

the best way to revolt against the drug war is education. teach your friends and family the real facts, and not the BS that the government feeds kids and adults through DARE, the DEA, etc. use university and non-baised studies for facts (ie Harvard medical..., not government-funded).

i did that my junior year of HS, and convinced a lot my classmates to either a) smoke pot, b) legalize it, or c) wake up and think for themselves, instead of being sheeple and told what to do.

Canada will be the first to legalize. Once legalized there, even more higher quality marijuana will be smuggled to the states. Its popularity will grow to that of alcohol during prohibition, and they won't be able to keep it illegal.

It's popularity is already as high as alcohol during the prohibition.

Honestly, it's about legal as it is. I say that meaning, if you're smart, you should never get caught.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

Weed will become legal is soon as the government figures out how to tax it effectively. With that in mind, I don't know why you want it legalized anyway. The minute it becomes legal, the government will tax the shit out of it. If you think weed is expensive now, just wait till the government gets their hands on it.

If anything more people will grow themselves.

Since you ask such a question, I happen to have written a game theory tutorial (http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2125992) in OTH. ("Stoners use math every day!!")

Think we should turn &t/BLTC into the leading global think tank, craft the mathematical models, test and implement, and turn world governments into our bitch??

'cause it sounds like fun to me.

And what line of reasoning brought you to this conclusion? If the government ever legalizes it and taxes, not everyone will just be able to grow it. That defeats the whole purpose of taxing it.

Hell yeah JP. I'm willing to contribute what I can, and when it comes out to physical action I'm willing to stand on street corners/get out in public.

Probably needs a new thread and a lot of participants to get started. If I made the thread the idea would probably dismissed immidiately...

i think we should be strongly against the govt. taxing it. we should be able to grow our own fucking plants, they're plants, that's like saying NO TATERS IN UR GARDEN 4 U. if we can get them to legalize it, we should have enough organized power to demand it to not be taxed.

we are the government, not them.

Depends how they're taxed. If it's 10$ for a twenty pack I'd much rather buy it, knowing thats its good stuff. a 20 pack would last several days and only cost you 10$, of which the government gets 7$ or so. That'd defeat the purpose of home growing pretty much.

which is one of the many reasons it isnt legal, growing pot isnt difficult, and if it was legalized almost every pot smoker will have a plant or 4.

Then why do people buy cigarettes instead of growing there own tobacco? If the government wants to tax something, they'll tax it. There isn't anything you can do about it.

though its a good idea in theory, i dont think legalising it would be good in practice.
I mean if the government were to legalise it and then consequently tax it, then they would in very little time, be able to dominate the market for it. Itd become like paracetamol. And though thats good for some, youll have alot of these 13 year old skater kids who would think that weed isnt cool anymore and then move on to coke and shit. The dealers would be selling these more harmful drugs to these minors, which again would just cause more problems in the long run.

are you fucking retarded? people smoke weed because they enjoy weed. they don't do it because it's illegal. people sell weed because it's easy to grow and harvest. Not everyone can easily make cocaine, pills, or most other kinds of drugs.

You're a retard. The kids would loose all contact with dealers if weed was legalized. The amount of dealers would drop 10 times. The amount of organized crime would drop. American culture would change.

As soon as they are able to slap some kind of tax on all the weed in circculation, it will become legal because of some "Scientific Breakthrough: Weed makes you Jesus like. Only £9.99 in most stores now"
