Drugs as a tool for life
Drugs are in some areas of society are acceptable as a tool for life, that is using a drug Regularly to help you live better like medicating mental illness, but if its an illegal drug there a junkie or an addict.
I soppose my point is, drugs (illegal drugs) have been demonised, so most people only accociate intoxicants with partying or tryna get wasted, when in reality they are so much more, they are tools for life.
and i think so many people are missing out on this because of the stupidity of certain governments.

Re: Drugs as a tool for life
Tools for certain aspects of life, but are certainly not a fix all duct-tape type tool.

Re: Drugs as a tool for life
hmm i wasnt really thinking along the lines of fixing something, that implies it was broken previusly.
im talking growth as an individual and how we view the world.
besides that is pointing out the obvius.
you only have to look at the meaning of the word tool too see that tools are specific to a purpose and sometimes multiple purposes but not many.

No, most people miss out because they are afraid, ignorant, obedient lapdogs. Without an oppressive authority to tell them to wipe their ass and go to work and pray to god and go to war, most people would go completely off the wall. The 'drug issue' isn't the only issue like this, and things are only like this because we all allow it.
Its all one big game. Stop caring about the rules so much, and just be happy.

Re: Drugs as a tool for life
Same.
I would have been called a "drug user" if anyone found out I was taking 40mg Ritalin everyday to help me function in school and at home for 4 months during which time (and for months before as well) I was trying to get my parents/psychologist to listen to me so I could explain that I thought I had ADD. Finally I got a word in during a session and I got tested and was diagnosed with severe ADHD. Then I got prescribed 54mg Methylphenidate a day, who would call me a drug user now?
It's really lame how this world works but who cares, do what you feel is right and what makes you happy, not what society says you should do or what society says should make you happy.
EDIT: I've always felt that most drugs can be used as a tool for you to work on some parts of your life and help work on things but I've yet to even hear of a drug that's a "fix". You have to use the "tool" properly and that means doing a lot of the work yourself, not throwing a hammer at a nail.

you need to smoke some PCP, that seems most fitting.

You have to remember that the majority of people who are non-users or don't have a close relative or friend who is a user are only subjected to exposure of the negatives thanks to media and society in general. I'm sorry but in today's day and age, you're not going to see a 20/20 or 60 minutes special on the benefits of LSD use or how to relieve your chronic pain with diacetylmorphine. Since the events that transpired during the Reagan administration, illicit drug use has reached a level of scorn and taboo that it will likely never rise out of. At least not in our lifetimes.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you whole-heartedly when you say that there is more to it than intoxication and partying. I've never used a hallucinogen as a way to get fucked up on a lazy Friday night when I ran out of weed or couldn't get any booze. A lot of people do that, and aside from being a shame, it's also the reason for the way that they get lumped in with the various other types of "dope".
While some people who are unknowing to the powers of some of these drugs could possibly benefit from their legitimate or even legal use for medicinal purposes, there will always be the people who abuse them and create the stigma for those engaging responsible use. Good luck convincing the government that the enlightenment of one man is worth the suffering of another. They may believe that in some cases, but drugs isn't one of them.
