Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
Right. Well this is a somewhat long story, so bear with me.
I was in a relationship with a girl for a bit over a year.
At first things were incredible, awesome, we were in love, ect. Things went on and towards the end I essentially no longer found her to be 'girlfriend' material. Basically, I thought she was a slut and that I deserved better – there were things I found out about which I won't go into which I let ruin the relationship.
So there were problems problems and we basically dragged it out for several months past when we should have ended it.
In the end, we'd both gone out separately one night, and when I ran into her, she was making out with a random guy.
Bouncers had to drag me off him, nothing serious though.
The next day we pretty much decided it was fucked, and broke up.
This was midway through last year.
Anyway, I had made the mistake of moving into the same college residence as this girl at the beginning of the year (we'd met in our freshman year), and had, a bit before we broke up, loaned her about $200.
A couple of weeks after we broke up I started asking for my money back. She began coming out with bullshit about my “emotionally abusing her” and making her miserable so she wasn't going to give it back. I got pretty forceful to the point of calling her repeatedly and demanding my money back.
By the end of the week I find out through the grape vine that she's getting a fucking restraining order put on me. Fuck
Sure enough, eventually I have a cop knock on my door, delivering it.(an interim order).
Within a week, she's had her little group of friends make sure EVERYONE in the residence knows about this.
Whats more I began to hear rumors that I'd “bashed my ex girlfriend”, amongst other things.
Naturally this makes me the most popular guy around, doing wonders for my chances with the other girls I knew around the place. /sarcasm
I complained repeatedly about this to the dean of the residence.
A week or so after, I have two cops banging on my door at 7am. This fat pig starts screaming at me, saying he can arrest me right now, that “she's tired of your shit” that “THE RELATIONSHIP IS OVER”, and that they're “tired of coming around here trying to find me”.
Turns out that she's told them I've been trying to talk to her (I haven't). Apparently they were frustrated because they'd tried to find me at 8:30pm the previous friday night and I wasn't there (because all 19 year olds are sitting inside studying on a friday!!!).
Naturally they “let me off with a warning”.
This continued, about once every two weeks for about 2 months I'd have a cop show up or ring me warning me, saying I'd tried to contact her or approached her (thus violating the restraining order). Having the cops show up asking around for you also does wonders for your reputation, as I'm sure you can imagine.
When the time rolled around for the actual dispute resolution/court thing in regards to the restraining order, I said I'd contest it, but upon getting free legal advice I was pretty much told that I had no chance in hell unless I could afford several grand for a good lawyer.
So when the day of the court hearing showed up, she'd shown up with a lawyer, I showed up in jeans and a tshirt and accepted the order without fault. (I probably cost her several hundred dollars there and then by having her get a lawyer and prepare to push the case in court as opposed to my simply signing it when they were doing mediation)
The shit from the cops continued, I kept getting calls and visits, and not once was I charged for anything.
She then claimed to the dean that I'd stolen stuff from her kitchen cupboard (this college was self catered and had one massive communal kitchen). How I was supposed to have got in there is a mystery, since the cupboards have locks.
About a week after that, I get told I'm being asked to leave the residence because:
“due to your harassment of XXXX, a restraining order has been issued against you. This order makes it impossible for us to accommodate both of you at this residence”, they also said that it was embarrassing for the college to have cops coming around all the time.
Essentially, the Dean decided that the existence of an order I had accepted without admission of fault(because I couldn't afford to contest it!) was evidence of my actually having done something wrong. This was a bit before the end of last year.
I then had to move, the only place nearby I could get into cost $70 a week more, I didn't have time to appeal or anything - they place that had just kicked me out took their sweet time getting my bond back to me and even 'accidentally' charged me another 2 weeks rent after I'd left (which I got back fairly promptly after giving them a visit.
I ended up having to borrow money and get the first decent paying job available (night work at a bar) to keep myself off of the street. Coming up with a $800 bond from scratch with a weeks warning was not fun – it was either borrow at fucked up interest rates or sucky sucky. I chose the former.
Anyway, this other place, besides being a rip was actually a decent place to live up until a few months ago. The bullshit gossip this time was that I had I'd threatened her with a knife. Brilliant no?
I left, and I'm technically homeless, crashing with highschool friends while I try to find a place, which is not fun in the city I'm living in. Theres no point living in dodgy on campus accommodation other then for the social scene – and if you're being defamed constantly to the point no one wants to know you, why bother?
Whats more, whatever I get involved with around uni, this ex, or her friends quickly follow me into, which of course results in the same bullshit. I'm dead tired of having people who were previously friendly to me suddenly refuse to look me in the eye. This keeps happening. It's been a fucking year now and it keeps happening. It's a small university, so by now it's probably got to the point that any given person knows someone who's heard “about that guy”.
I've talked to the Dean of students, (of the whole institution) about this. and while they're supportive, there is sweet fuck all that they're willing or able to do, and besides, a reputation once damaged is irreparable.
This also means that pretty much anyone I meet though uni ends up hearing the rumors, if not being outright sought out and told by the ex or one of her close friends.
I have no fucking idea what she's trying to achieve, I don't deny that the breakup was my fault, I was no longer happy with her, but still stayed with her because I loved her and wanted to keep loving her.
That probably wasn't a nice experience, but this is bullshit, and it's extreme. It's dragged on and on and on, and it pretty much means that the only girls I can get any attention from are randoms at bars/nightclubs, and theres no way any sort of worthwhile relationship is coming out of that. I'm tired of living like this. It's been INCREDIBLY difficult to move on because she WILL NOT LET ME. Naturally she found some random idiot from her work to break her own fall straight after we broke up, while I've been left very much alone – made unbearably worse by the bullshit.
My life is pretty empty and miserable at the moment, and it's taking all my effort to keep up with study.
I need to make more friends and meet new people (decent women in particular), but its going to have to be outside of university and even then this “city” is really a big country town – everyone knows someone who knows everyone else at best. I was going to transfer to another part of the country where I can still afford to live, but because I failed a course last semester (at the height of the shitstorm) I can't.
So basically – any tips on what I should do at this point? I don't really have much of an idea on where to start meeting people outside of my usual activities – I'm not working at this very moment so that ones out, though money is not longer a big problem.
I've never really been placed in the position where I need to seek out new people for the sake of it, but the only “friends” I have left are my close friends from high school and a few from uni – and I can't live a life I only meaningfully interact with a few people. I'm not a social retard, but I'm definitely not a “social butterfly” (I probably wouldn't be in this mess if I was).
Edit:
Just to clarify - I'm not here looking for sympathy, and I'm not interested in revenge per se. Oh, I know what she deserves, but following that train of thought to its conclusion doesn't help me one little bit.
The worst of it is over, I'm not getting hassled by the cops anymore, and given that I've manged to keep my cool through that I don't intend to blow it now.
What I'm after is positive advice on what to do now, as I'm sure there's a wealth of experience on the subject of psycho-ex's here, particularly among some of the older posters.

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
Is there any place that you can find her alone? At any point? If there is, I think a rather serious death threat is in order. Throw her to the ground, take a very sharp knife and hold it to her eye. Threaten to fucking gut the slut, tell her you will keep her alive, but unlovably ugly if she fucks with your private life ever again, you will kill her family etc. I'll even give you a perfect alibi that will make it impossible for her to say it was you.
That's literally what I'd do. But I'd actually kill her family (providing there is no death penalty in your state). Seriously. That is fucked up. So so fucked up. Let me know if you want an alibi.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about it.
But I don't particularly want to fuck up(or risk fucking up) my life in the process.
Whats more, for various reasons it would be a much worse idea in this case then in most others (who the family is, ect). I've considered trying to turn it into a media circus, it would screw up her career prospects more then it would mine, but at the end of the day that doesn't help me get where I want to go.

The thing that shits me most is that after "warning" me over and over they NEVER pressed charges or arrested me.
I almost wish she'd made a *serious* accusation TO the police, so it could be proved definitively wrong. Because she never in any real capacity made the accusations that ended up floating around. It was always that I'd "breached the order".

I don't get it though, when you got called up court why did you not contest the order? I mean she had no evidence did she?

Because to have any chance at contesting it, even in a "his word vs her word" case like this I'd have needed to hire a lawyer. I didn't have cash to burn, and there's no way I'd try and hit my parents up for that much, they were helping me more then enough already.
Whats more, if I had contested it and lost, it would have been essentially saying "on the balance of probabilities, she's right". I would not be so certain about winning, given that courts tend to err on the side of caution. Thats what I was told at least. It was a choice between going in there representing myself, or accepting the order.
The order expired ages ago anyway, the problem was that at the time it was use to basically trash my name
- Other BIG thing was that she got an "interim" order beforehand, so the damage had mostly been done by that stage. I just didn't have a couple of grand to burn fighting a bullshit civil thing like that and it would hardly have undone the damage anyway.

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
Hmm, well dude, if i were you, i would be racking my brain trying to find some way to fuck with this bitch, seriously... Cause what she did is just going way beyond cruel, i mean... i seriously dont see anything you did in that relationship that warrants that much hate... Heres a tip for next time man, next time you lend ANYONE money, get it in writing infront of a witness.
Anyway, heres an idea on how to fuck with her back, im sure you know where she used to work while you guys were still going out dont you? Well, in that case, what id suggest is calling her new employer (if she switched jobs or anything) pretending to be her old one, and badmouth her or something... Err, wait that wouldnt work too well....
Plant drugs in her car... like, lots of drugs, and a few hidden open beer bottles, maybe a dead baby aswell, call the cops, she gets arrested, no more propogation of rumors about you. Failing being able to kill a baby and frame her for murder... kill a couple dogs and cats, proceed to stuff them in her trunk while she isnt going to be there for a few hours, when the smell starts to get rank enough, call cops. She gets arrested for a bunch of drugs, having an open container in her car, and a shitload of animal cruelty.... Than again, you'd need to be able to get into her trunk :-/

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
I agree with arquin. Strongly.
If that won't work, maybe an out of town friend or someone an out of town friend knows, would kill her, while your off indulging in a blatantly obvious public alibi.
Any friendly non-local drug dealers you know?
God forbid you know anyone as handy as a hitman.
Failing that, get someone you trust, again from out of town, so no one knows them, to go to a party she's at, chat her up, do something horrific, then leave, back to whatever far far away place they live.
What problem would her family cause?

I couldn't afford a lawyer, I think a hitman is a bit out of my league :P
The problem with her family is a few connections that her father apparently has. I'm not too worried on that front as things stand but I don't think it would be wise for me to start trying to threaten her physically, even if it weren't for the potential legal consequences.

Aaa, that's why you get a friend from out of town while your in public!
You have an alibi, so it wasn't you and no-one will recognise, know or find them. Just make sure you call them on a public pay phone, that IS NOT being watched by a CCTV camera and it can't be traced back to you AT ALL.
If you have a second account on totse, use it to enquire around the bad ideas forum for possible ideas. Disguise your situation with a different story, or just under the guise of friendly discussion of the subject. Make sure there is NO EVIDENCE.

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
i think its super mature of you not to want revenge since its, although tempting, not exactly productive, so i applaud you for that. :)
although moving away is not an option, its not the end of the world
since you claim not to be a social butterfly maybe you can work on that. I might start with watching David Deangelo's and Mystery Method's stuff and also a vid i found called "pickup 101" (find on bit torrent), which is NOT only about picking up girls but also a huge source of info on how to interact with groups of people in social environments.
although you claim clubs and bars are not the places to find meaningful relationships, these two guys would tend to disagree
on the other side of things
i keep hearing this cancer ad on the radio that says "the best revenge is living well" and even tho its about cancer, its still very relavent
how much would it kick ass if 10 years from now youre winning at life. youre successful and have found the right girl and youre super happy. meanwhile shes some 10 cent hoe on the street corner
All this because you didnt concentrate on getting revenge in an immediate sort of way but instead, while she was out trying to ruin your reputation, you remained calm, working hard to become a better more capable individual, while she was out concentrating on spreading rumors and calling the cops on you.
I think in some ways you're really lucky to have this huge source of motivation to win at life. so i encourage you to use it and hang in there bud. :)

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
Well, definitely don't hurt/threaten her. Your life will actually be ruined if you do, she will make sure of it. The history will make it so your suspect number 1 if anything happens to her even if you have an alibi.
I don't think your the type to and I really suggest against it but if you ever decide to kill yourself make sure you leave a videotape for her explaining in detail how this is all her fault and how she will have to live with your death on her shoulders.
Cry in the video if possible and depending on how you would choose to kill yourself show yourself setting up for it.
Seriously though, don't kill yourself. Living will make her hurt more because clearly she's still hurting and it's not your fault, she's just insane, batshit insane.
Anyways, aside from crazy shit, just act normally, try your best to live comfortably and get school going fine. Deny the fuck out of every rumor you hear and just tell the truth. You seem like a nice/decent guy and while you can't fix ALL of your rep with everyone, the people you meet and talk to, yeah you can completely eradicate any bad things they think of you, because of her, from their minds just by explaining the situation if anything comes up. You really seem like a guy people will trust. Just don't freak out while your explaining it or look mad, be calm and cool, it makes you look honest and not like someone who would do the things she said you did.
I'm really sorry this shit has happened to you man, you didn't deserve it, relationships don't work out all the fucking time. I was in a similar situation but luckily even though my ex went into months of deep depression, because I left her, her dad never got pissed at me. I know for a fact who he's involved with and while breaking up with her that's all I could think of. Thankfully he's still cool with me, we bonded well during two years I guess. I got lucky there.
Wouldn't it have just been free for you to represent yourself? Sure it probably wouldn't have worked but still, you'd have stood up for yourself. I'm just wondering though, don't let something that's over and past now get to you by thinking about what you wish you had done over and over again. Live in the now and take control of your life. Nothing some random chick says or rumors will ever take away what makes you you and you can talk to anyone you want. People will listen to you more then a random ass rumor. If they don't they weren't worth talking too. You'll be fine mate, you just got to stay positive and not think that the rumors and history will stop you in anyways socially.

I've never really been placed in the position where I need to seek out new people for the sake of it, but the only friends I have left are my close friends from high school and a few from uni and I can't live a life I only meaningfully interact with a few people. I'm not a social retard, but I'm definitely not a social butterfly (I probably wouldn't be in this mess if I was).
First of all contest all of her allegations.
Go to a free legal help clinic.
Second of all, you need to to outdo this bitch.
Get the word around that she's a slut/whore/bitch/...
got any nudies?, put them around campus, if anyone asks your comp was hacked.
Thirdly sue the whore for your 200,

Forget the bitch. That's the best option.
Isn't there a community college nearby that you could attend and move to? Something along those lines.

If you do this, make sure she knows you are moving. Hell, if you get the chance look her dead in the eye and calmly ask her if she is happy. That would fuck anyone up. Especially if you make yourself look as pathetic and downtrodden as possible.

Haha, play that game! It's a good one. Even if she doesn't feel bad now she'll still remember and regret it someday down the road. That is, if she actually grows the fuck up.

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
I wouldn't even bother trying to contact her to tell her you're moving. She's the last person that needs to know about your move. Pack up shop, find a new job and place to stay, and go fucking there. At this point it seems that education is the least of your worries. I would move before the bitch figures out a way to either get you into deep legal shit, or debt defending yourself from deep legal shit.

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
Move away and legally change your name. You aren't going to fix your reputation there. The cops are retarded because there's no evidence of anything. They should have looked at her cell phone/email or whatever for evidence of harassment. There were 0 witnesses. Still, it's not fixable at this point. Just get away from that place and start a new life elsewhere. It sounds like you have nothing to lose.

I still have a bit to lose. I'm half way through a degree. If it were the case that I was here for a job, I'd be out of here already.
If I leave without finishing, I'm still going to be stuck with debt.
Whats more, getting me to drop out of uni is probably her goal in all of this.
Because of various unrelated stuff I've got a year and a half left at least, so I need to find some way to have a livable life in the mean time.
I realize completely that I'm not going to fix my reputation at this university, but I need to stay at the very least long enough to get my grades up in order to transfer.
Changing name is a good point if I do move.

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
Your degree is 100x more important then some bitch or your rep. With your degree you'll have so many more options and ways out of there. Plus you won't of let her complete what she's trying to do, ruin your life. Uni is a small time in the spectrum of your whole life, and your whole life could get a LOT better once you finish getting your degree.
Move afterwards, get a nice job, do whatever you want to, forget about the bitch. If you seriously want to change your name go for it, but i think that's retarded. If she pulls more shit on you after you move then you'll be prepared and now she'll be the one with legal issues.

Woah, woah. So he lends her $200 out of the kindness of his heart, she REFUSES TO GIVE IT BACK, he asks her a few times (and sure, maybe it was forceful, but this is HIS money), and all the sudden he's responsible for all that shit?
Come on, man.

since you claim not to be a social butterfly maybe you can work on that.
|
That's actually good advice, thanks.
I got a hold of "Rules of the Game", but I'll have a look for that torrent too.

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
Dude, my sympathies. I didn't read the whole thing but the $200 thing has inspired me a prompt reply.
In the December of 2007, I offered to help a 'friend' with $4 fuckin thousand cos she told me she was robbed, and none of her friends had anything to lend.
She didn't mention anything about the money for four fuckin months, so I asked her if she could return me the money last March. The first time she answered my call, but then on - NEVER. She'd SMS me with all kinda bullshit excuses and shit whenever I tried calling her or messaged her about the matter. It went on for two months. So finally I gave up.
Why did I give up? To cleanse myself of any bad karma I might have had (and pass it on to her). But then you never know what I might do. My initial plan was to hijack her MySpace.

I figured you could have just transferred with no problems. Usually it's not an issue. The US system is probably different though. Here most colleges make you take low level classes in science/math/history/etc. and then you focus on your major for 3-4 years. Makes it easier to transfer for the first year or two.
I really would suggest transferring if you can. If your life sucks that bad that you can't even find a place to live, it sounds like it's not worth living there. If you can deal with it for another year or two, do it. Make your life better. Then just move away, preferably to another country.
Oh, and something else that's important. The problem with changing your name after you get your degree is that your diploma will have a name that isn't your new one. You will have to change your name before you get your degree.
I still think she's a bitch for not giving you back the $200. Making that much of a scene cause she doesn't want to pay you back is shit. Next time remember to get a written contract with at least 2 witnesses signing it as well, and get it notarized. It costs like $2 to get something notarized here. Definitely worth it.
Best of luck.

No... I don't think it was over $200.
That was just the first of many nasty acts.
The scene would be because she blamed me for the relationship breaking down.
It just didn't occur to me at the time(that I loaned it) that things were quite that screwed up, or that she'd go so far off the deep end when we broke up.

Thread starter, I so so wish you were in the same country as me.
I'd happily take the time off work, gather up enough cash for a train ticket and come beat the shit out of that evil fucking cunt for you.
She's the sort of bitch that makes me ashamed to be a female.
Could you transfer to a different Uni? If she's fucking with you that much chances are it's going to fuck with your grades, and that could be bad.

I think I should've clarified that I think it was shit for her to make such a scene over it, not you.
In any case, like I said before, it's best to just carry on as best you can until you can get away from there.

It has a little bit (fucked with my grades).
If I manage to get decent grades this semester (and it's almost over now) I'll probably be able to transfer.
Unless I can find a (permanent-ish) place to stay within the next week or so I probably will.
Im putting in a transfer application either way, I can always knock back an offer.

Funny, that's the same thing that keeps going through my head.
My guess is that she blames me for the relationship breaking apart and wants to ruin any possible chance of having one with anyone else.
Suffice to say I don't blame her for being angry, because I did a couple of times pretty much tell her (just before things went to hell) that I didn't consider her girlfriend material anymore. It's sorta complex and involves some stuff I'd found out a few months before.
It was messy, it was always going to be painful.
The thing is though that this has gone on and on and on. I'm way over it, I don't want anything to do with her but it just keeps on going.

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
Man, I feel ya' the whole way on this one. One of my ex's told everyone i knocked her up, caused her to attempt suicide, kill the "child" and send her to rehab. Yeah, some bitches can just be fucked up.
No matter how you slice it, you probably won't kill her. Fuck, I knew how to conceal 3 different guns in my house, how to get them near her, and where I could shoot to ensure death and maximize pain. Somehow, though, I refrained from it.
I will say this: If she ever comes to you, saying she can't take this or that, and is going to kill herself, tell her to fucking do it. No, I'm not saying wish death upon her. She's being an attention whore. Encouraging her shows you want her gone for everyone's sake, but you don't care enough to do it yourself.
If you really want to know why she did all of this, just think one word. "Desperation."
Hope you hit an upswing soon. I'll probably add more later.

Re: Psycho ex of a different sort - what to do?
This sounds really fucked up and as far as I could imagine no way out. Its pretty mature not to want revenge but sometimes the best way to fight fire is with fire. You don't always have to make it blatantly obvious or get involved either, I don't know if it would work but try hitting up some of the hacker type people you get around here... Seen how much 4chan has fucked some peoples lives up? Personally I don't agree with a lot of the things 4chan has done to people and generally hate that site but you gota admit as a group of people they have a fair bit of power over the internet and with so many people putting their social life and reputation in the hands of the internet its surprisingly easy for it to be fucked up. Not only that but there would be little-no connection to you.
I would also say, there is no way out of this and even if you ex was to come clean (unlikely) you would be better off cutting your losses and dissapearing to a different uni, try and get a transfer and don't tell a single person at your current uni in case she finds out. Cut all ties with anyone that has any involvement with this ex even just being at the same uni. Meaning no friends on MSN, Facebook, Myspace, or your phone book. That way hopefully she shouldn't be able to track you down and destroy your new life.
Either way, as noble as it is of you to have not attempted to get revenge, she has totally fucked up your social life, your uni work, lost you your home and got your in debt as well as owing you money herself. I would kill the bitch for that but maybe that is a bit too far and would just make matters worse... Either way, one way or another don't let her get away with this but don't get yourself in more trouble either.. She's not worth it.
